An evening with Matt jansen
MarkBRFC replied to Oldgregg86's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It is a bit strange that someone who only signs up for the 1875 club for £15 a season can get tickets for this for £10, yet someone who stumps up £300-400 and doesn't join the 1875 club has to pay a fiver more. Seems like 1875 members are held in higher regard than season ticket holders sometimes. -
I wouldn't say it was that clear. Anyway, even if you are talking about fans who live more local, the point still stands, just because they are Rovers fans who can afford to go every now and then and probably have the time to do so, why should they prioritise Rovers over something else they enjoy doing? I have been a Rovers obsessive since I was around 6/7 years old and still am, but I can certainly understand that Blackburn Rovers isn't the most important priority of every Rovers fan out there, people enjoy doing other things and you or me have no right to tell them that they should be going to Rovers over doing anything else (when financially and time allowing as you said). Get over yourself.
-
I would never say to anyone, whether they had the money/time or not, to prioritise something like going to Rovers over something else. For example, two lads who years ago I went to games with every week, both now live in north Staffordshire. They are both doing well for themselves and could afford it, and probably would have time to go to a game every now and then too but don't, they follow everything religiously and could tell you everything that is happening at the club, yet just don't have any real desire to attend games at the moment, and haven't done I'd say without checking since Hughes left. If I rang them up today and said "what are you doing on Saturday", and they replied with "nothing yet" and then I followed it up with right, "you have a free day, and can obviously afford it, so you must go to watch Rovers on Saturday, you should prioritise it" They would probably laugh in my face and put the phone down. How is it any of your business to state that?!

This statement ?
-
Think It will be a similar team to last weekend. Just Travis for Buckley for me.
-
Obviously a talented player, i'm just wondering to where TM will play him. I'm inclined to think that it might mean more of this "split strikers" nonsense with Dack in the "false 9" position. Travis & Johnson holding, Holtby just ahead of them with a front 3 of Gallagher on the right, Dack in the middle and Downing on the left.
-
Or he could be on his way to Leeds....
-
Imagine the scenes if he ends up signing for someone else after all this ?
-
Could be in TM's mind that Dack won't be here in January/July and that Holtby is a ready made replacement.
-
The only way you progress in football is to continually sign better players than you already have, I think we can all agree that Holtby would be an upgrade on anyone we have in midfield, so it's a move we should all be wanting to happen.
-
Could be Graham out to get Holtby in?! I mean its funny that Graham is linked away and a new signing is linked to coming in within a few days of each other...
-
If he's going with 3 at the back on a regular basis, couldn't we line up with Holtby, Johnson & Travis as the midfield 3 with Dack in behind Gallagher?
-
No way is Downing not playing. Can just imagine Rothwell's & Chapman's faces should this deal happen ?
-
Christ if we sign him now by Tony's standards he wont play until April.
-
In the league, Travis against Norwich last season?
-
Still, I think I would rather take that risk. We're only an injury away from Evans being back to a mainstay in the midfield which just makes me shudder.
-
If it pushes Evans & Smallwood further down the pecking order then I'm all for it.

Start of the season
MarkBRFC replied to Rochdale_rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I imagine come the end of the season our wins, losses & draws will all be a similar number, our goal difference will be somewhere between 2 & -4 & our league position will be somewhere between 12th & 16th. -
Couldn't agree more. If I can manage it living in Cheshire which is rife with Utd, City, Liverpool & Stoke (?) I'm sure people who live in Blackburn with the club on there doorstep can. I see similar here, most of the parents in my lads under 10's team are Port Vale fans, but there kids rock up at training in Utd, Liverpool, City tops etc. I ask the question every week and just get told " how can I make him a vale fan when all his mates support Liverpool etc". Easy, like I have, make an effort to get him interested in the club, take him games etc. It really isnt that difficult, theres no converting my lad to a "big club" now.

Can't be recalled until January?
-
Second lowest attendance in the second tier today.
-
First half was the usual Ewood affair, saved by a peach from Derrick. Second half was much better with Gallagher on for Buckley, who to be fair I thought showed a few nice touches but looked a little lost. Thought we looked more fluid with Rothwell on, both him and Arma should have scored really. Still, good win and hopefully something to build on.
-
Spoiler.... He won't.

Things you dislike about football.

Does anyone remember that year where there were two group stages in the Champions league? Think the second group stage replaced the round of 16. What a long drawn out farce that was. -
Can't fathom anyone who would pick England glory over Rovers. Agree with AJW though, if there's one thing I would love to see Rovers do in my lifetime then it is win the FA Cup, unfortunately we're a long way from that happening.
