Phil Jones has been doing the rounds recently claiming what a huge "Blackburn fan" he is and how we are and always have been his club etc. Also desperate for a move into football as stated on the recent podcasts etc he has been on, and also has been around the club a lot recently I believe. Surely a coincidence that a half decent position at the club has just opened up?

We'll either be winning 1-0 and the ref will abandon the game after 40 minutes because the ball won't roll anymore, or it will be called off at 2pm when most folk including 4k Ipswich fans are already there. Can't imagine they have taken any precautions like covering the pitch etc because thats not what they do.

In his first season it very much worked, and probably would have secured a top 6 finish if he had been backed by a couple of quality players in January. The mistake was continuing to play that way at points in the following season when our side was weaker and we had various injuries etc.

He did this regularly, it never worked and we would usually concede pretty much straight away but he often went to 3 at the back during a game.

There is a rule that you have to start x amount of players from your last league game in this competition, this was just a way of them getting around that rule. Forest Green went even further and substituted 4 players in the first minute!

I listened to David Dunn on the "I had trials once" podcast yesterday, and he mentioned something about getting fit for a game at Ewood in a few weeks against Old Etonians. Guessing this will be a 150 year tribute game featuring various legends etc, I would say strange how nothing has been announced yet but then I remember who we are.

Tyjon has been hyped up far too much, and because of that people are expecting far to much of him. He's not long turned 17, to be playing regularly for the 21's is a decent achievement. I have no doubt's he will leave in the summer, but ideally he should be signing that first pro contract, concentrating on having a decent season for the 21s, then maybe a loan next season before coming back and making a challenge for the first team in a couple of years time when he will be 19/20.

To be honest I think Gardner-Hickman is a lot more forward thinking than Taveres looking at his clips for Bristol and Brum. Sid offers absolutely nothing going forward based on the first few games.

I think Cantwell can drop deeper from time to time but you don't want to move him unless you absolutely have to. As said on the other thread Gardner-Hickman would be getting a run for me instead of Sid.

It won't happen because they want Taveres to develop and be the main man in the midfield for the next couple of years, but for me I would be starting him over Sid at the minute.

Mentioned before but we were over there in the summer and went to see the ground, my lad was wearing his Rovers shirt so it naturally sparked some chat with a couple of club officials. They said that he has stated many times that he wants to go back to Haugesund one day as like you say his wife wants to settle down there, they knew all about his contract situation but don't expect it next summer as it's very likely they will be playing in the Norwegian second tier. (They had lost 14 and drawn twice in 16 games at the time of visit). So a move to somewhere else in Scandinavia as a stop gap until the later years in his career seems likely.

Post this after a win, and we're stronger. Post it after a home defeat to Ipswich, and we're weaker. A lot are very reactionary from one game to the other. For me, we're weaker than we were last season at the minute. If we finish 7th or higher come the end of the season, I'll be happy to change my mind.

Yeah I suppose it's easy to agree to a 3/4 year deal of 20k a week when you don't have to actually commit to it after the loan ends. I'd like to think they would have negotiated something realistic in case he does turn out to be a good one so we can trigger it at any time, but then I remember who's in charge.

Well you seemed pretty confident to say multiple times this summer that Brittain and Tronstad would sign new deals. So, how many of that lot who expire in less than two years do you think will sign new contracts here? Going off recent history, I will say none, with the outside chance of one, being Wharton because he's a Blackburn lad.

I think, when you do a deal that is a loan with an option to buy, that the permanent contract has to be done at the time of the deal? Otherwise it would just go down as straight loan deal. Ismael did say in his interview on the transfer window that the two loans didn't really feel like loans because we have the option to make them our player at any time.

Toth, Carter, Wharton, Mcloughlin, Pickering, Cantwell, Kargbo & Ohashi's contracts all expire in less than two years. How many of those do you think will sign new contracts now that we can't use the excuse of "it was out of our control before we arrived"?

More than that really when you factor in Goddard, Michelski, Montgomery, Tyjon etc who don't need to be registered. Gestede himself also mentioned Atcheson in his interview. Completely agree its the lack of quality that will do us this season.

No, we're a one contract club now. Sign a 3/4 year deal when joining and then sell 2/3 years into that deal. Rinse and repeat until the end of time.
