The January 2026 Transfer Window

I’m ok with it. He wasn’t in the squad and had played for the 21s the day before. He’s made the short trip to watch a friend play. -

It’s also an indication of how bad our transfer policy is when a team with a transfer embargo can do considerably better business than us. Hull are 4th and 3 points off the automatic places and weren’t allowed to pay a fee for anyone, they also had the wages capped but still did better than us in the window. -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach

They won’t sack him as it’ll bring the radar back on Pasha and Rudy, they’ve got the perfect shield who can take all of the blame in Val. -

I feel that winning the battle in the middle of the park can help set the tone for the whole team. We can’t do that with the current players. Baraji looks skillful on the ball but doesn’t have any fight at all. Loses the ball and watches the player run away from him, Cantwell does exactly the same. We probably have the weakest squad in the league. Our best 11 is lower mid table but the overall squad is weak. That weak squad has led to us having to try to play the best 11 every game with no rest, shock horror we then end up with injuries. I’m also convinced our training and rehab is nowhere near what it’s been in the past so the injuries are more common. in short a couple of signings may cover the cracks but we all know the problems are running deeper. If we keep signing average players then the starting 11 are still under pressure to start every game. Cashin doesn’t start for me when our CBs are fit so it’s a pointless signing, O’Riordan was pulled back from loan and again is probably only on the bench if all are fit. Jorgensen probably doesn’t start if Gudjonssen and Ohashi are both fit (maybe ahead of Ohashi at a push). Last season I’m not sure we signed a single player who was better than what we already had in that position. Some would save Alibiousi, but we had Brittain who was one of the best in the RB position we actually signed the player to play in. Change in formation has been good for Ryan but as a RB I think Brittain has the edge. There are no quick wins, a couple of signings will not get us out of this mess. -

Birmingham fans as friends and they quite like Anderson and reckon he’ll so well at Portsmouth. We have to hope he has a shocker as we need a Watford win tomorrow night. -

Portsmouth have actually bought in some players who know the league and will push past us so we need a couple of teams to be worse than us. Can’t see it at the moment. -

Charlton could be caught but we need to actually start winning some games. -

We’re down. No quality at all in this squad -

There is no urgency about our play at all. Baraji looks like he’s having a lovely stroll around the pitch. -

Although tbf last season he was coming off the back of a bad injury so it could explain his poor form at Blackpool. -

Dom Ballard is having a good season with 15 league goals in 20 appearances but he struggled last season with 3 in 35 when he was at Blackpool. Young player so would be a gamble. -

If we don’t get a goal scorer then there’s a fair chance we are down. If we get one we’ve got a fighting chance of scraping survival. -

Have you seen the line up Gav? A battling draw at best I reckon. Not convinced there’s any goals in that team based on recent form. -

I didn’t even know that group existed tbf. Had a quick nose this morning and obviously the first thing I did was search my name. I actually come out of it ok lol. I did have some decent debates with Drog and hoped I’d never over stepped the line as a mod as I always tried to be fair. He seems to feel the same. I’m not saying I always got it right as no mod ever will. You have to make judgement calls that will in no doubt upset someone. I’m not a huge poster on here anymore but I’ve been around for a long time. Pretty sure Grooby was the first person to make me a mod back in the late 90s. I’m sure it was when I was still at uni but could be wrong. I have no bad feelings towards anyone over there. I’ll have a nose through the posts as I enjoy reading rovers related content even if I don’t post a lot. -

If the club have leaked something to protect the actual signing then good on them. I’m all for that if it means we get the player we want with no late moves from clubs who could guzump the deal. -

Surely though it’s only relevant if we can actually sign him? If the valuation is £5m and we’re offering 20% of that then surely identifying him is pointless? I could identify loads of players we couldn’t afford. -

We’re not getting either of these Barnsley forwards. They will have attracted more attention after decent performances tonight -

Biggest mistake seems to have been letting Leonard go on the cheap. 8 goals and 3 assists this season already. I know a lot of us wanted him to stay, he would have ended up getting a decent amount of game time here this season. -

Mates who are Birmingham fans think he’s awful. They too were super excited that they’d signed a £10m defender on loan and pointed to the fact that Brighton really don’t sign duds. He’s not been good enough to get into their fairly average back line. I’m hoping he just needs some game time but his previous stint in the championship was at the lower end of the league. He must have done something right to get a big money move but it’s a strange one. Personally I would have preferred a 6ft 4 bruiser to play in the middle of the three. A full on body on the line type of player. Maybe they think O’Riordan will be the physical presence in the back line. -

He can’t play for another team can he? Played for Southampton and Derby this season already. Or is it different with loans?
