Most clubs realised they needed to offer something enticing to get fans back after 18 months with them out the grounds, so we saw freezes and cuts across the game… here? A rise ‘oh and we’ll keep your unused ST money too’. Result? Lowest ST sales in 30 years at 6,995 and it’s been a bloody slog trying to claw it back ever since.

You’re right they don’t. We have bounced between a pitiful 7k and a stil poor 9.5k+ STs for a decade, that’s the range. We all clutch our pearls every summer but in reality we’ll be in that range at the end of it. Going up or down a few hundred season to season means little in the grand scheme of things. In reality what I think will happen, is a fair few existing ST holders will drop off due to another shambolic season, seeing one Saturday home win after October and now the Sky factor but that will largely be offset by a few newbies thinking it’s a decent enough price. Yep, it’s a sticking plaster. Probably enough of a reduction to prevent a collapse in sales, but certainly not enough to be enticing enough to lead to any great spike in sales.

Forget about those in England, the island of Ireland or in the USA, Australia with family ties etc. But those hordes of folk across Scottish towns who fill coach after coach to Glasgow on a Saturday morning or their local pubs to watch OF games instead of supporting St Mirren or Raith Rovers etc aren’t glory hunters?
