  1. Yeah but it’s not the Originals vs *checks notes* the Superchargers though, is it?
  2. So that would be just the two first team centre halves left (and one of those was on loan in the third division last season). Big rebuild (sorry I mean big potential loanee list to work through) for the DoF, or whoever the hell makes decisions down there. Seven weeks to go…
  3. 101 of professional football, however it stopped being the modus operandi at this club a long time ago…
  4. Oh I see, you just have an irrational dislike of them, partly due to an incident 25 years ago, sorry I thought you were trying to say they were actually similar set up clubs, which, of course, would be a daft thing to say.
  5. At 27/28 you still have a load of years left as a centre half. A four year deal taking them to 31/32 is not exactly risky. Another one after that taking them to 35/36 is obviously a different issue. A club built on loans and young lads will eventually lead only in one direction…
  6. Not sure how accurate that table is. As an example, Blackpool only had one 14k+ crowd all season, a usual crowd was about 11k.
  7. When we sold just 8k under Coyle I thought ‘wow, we’ve really hit rock bottom now’… then we scraped 7k last summer, worst sales for 30+ years, and once again I thought ‘it can’t get worse than this’… and then came along this present debacle. So more fool me for not realising that there’s always further to fall under this regime. (‘things are much improved’ though, so that’s a relief).
  8. Noticed on the official site they are still promoting that the claim your seat deadline and ‘loyalty’ price is ending this weekend. Does the club actually want a collapse in sales? What has happened in recent weeks to make the wavering thousands renew? Still no manager and now no captain. And if you hold off, you’ll be stung with another £30 to make ridiculous prices even more obscene, ergo plenty more won’t renew from then on out of principle. The claim your seat deadline needs extending to the end of June and the price hike needs scrapping immediately.
  9. It’s all to do with Middlesbrough and their wages. Blackburn Rovers never struggled to compete with bloody Middlesbrough until recent years. The crux of the matter is, even putting FFP restrictions on owner team investment aside, why this club has reached such a state commercially that even our top earners can’t get close to their ‘middle pack’.
  10. You said ‘maybe’ to them being open to investment, I asked a follow up question to why you think so. ‘Tis a forum after all. No need to get narky. 😁
  11. Then why don’t they invest in club infrastructure that isn’t impacted by FFP?
  12. He’s 28 and never played outside the lower leagues, he can’t even get on the 10 man bench of the worst Ireland side of the past 40 years. He’s the quintessential second division steady Eddie centre half. All that being said… we still won’t ‘replace’ him with a player as good, which speaks volumes of modern BRFC. So we ‘move on’ ever downwards.
  13. ‘How was your first day?’ ’Captain walked out’.
  14. So Blackburn Rovers can’t even pay their top players a wage that can even get close to Middlesbrough squad fillers? A nice way to sum up the past decade of withering on the vine…
  15. In what way are they anything like a basket case like Birmingham?
  16. Now this is an area of the club that desperately needs a new broom. Years of neglect to turn around, so good luck!
  17. That’s the point, I wasn’t aware Deila and Broughton did have any history? Yes Broughton was an employee of a Norwegian club and Deila is Norwegian, but all a bit tenuous. But who knows maybe they hit it off at a Norwegian FA conference or something, fine by me as I’d be happy enough with RD.
  18. I know it isn’t, I’m just trying to work out why Mani thinks Broughton would be a ‘dream ticket’ with Knutsen or Deila just because they are both Norwegian.
  19. Surely Knutsen would be the ‘dream ticket’ in that context as he’s actually had success with Broughton, Delia just happens to be from the same country as Knutsen, go and get OGS in if that’s the barometer.
  20. Hoping that a player we can sell will emerge every now and then isn’t ‘a plan’ for a sustainable club. It’s a bonus, but you don’t build on a club on it.
  21. Who we selling after BBD? Hoping to keep your head above water by finding a £15 million plus player to sell every summer seems a tad optimistic for a middling second division club…
  22. Indeed, same for those hanging off every word (and even paying for!) of Alan bloody Nixon.
  23. The fact he never signed for another club after that contract and played his last game at just 32 says all you need to know about how disgustingly lucrative being Ke*n’s shop steward was…
  24. Yes, yes it is. ‘ Journalists are not cheerleaders or mouthpieces. Instead, our job is to hold people of power to account. Politicians, organisations, companies’. Jennifer Williams, FT (formerly Manchester Evening News).
