You might be sanguine about them sleepwalking to relegation and financial calamity due to some strange adoration for ‘Lamps’, but with an enormous wage bill and an even bigger one for their new ground their board can’t be as flippant…

If the ‘model’ is to sell players on for a profit, to be a ‘trading club’, then be that club. The fact that fans might be upset shouldn’t come into it for second. But if the model is actually ‘whatever the whim of the owners is at the moment’, and current whim is ‘they’ve decided not to sell BBD or Rothwell and they can go for nowt’. Then fair enough, it’s their club - but maybe stop going on about ‘being a Brentford’, ‘or developing players for profit to reinvest’ or ‘FFP’.

Sorry not selling your players when well primed for promotion is not ‘ambition’. Neither was signing a teenager with zero professional minutes, a loanee with zero minutes in English football, a lad from Scotland and another (badly utilised, granted) loanee. In a normal season when in our standard mid table? Fine. In a summer window? Fine. But when sitting in pole position and just three months from transforming the club entirely? It stunk of a lack of ambition and summed up this nonsensical decade perfectly.

Giles could’ve, possibly should’ve worked. But on the whole it was not a window of a club with actual aspirations of promotion - unforgivable considering just how strong our position was at that stage, a position we may never see again.

Giles was a young/inexperienced loanee (as was Zeefuik), still wasn’t enough for a team on the verge of the PL, even if he had been as successful as he’d been elsewhere. Those were not signings for a club serious about promotion.

You need quality to get you over the line. Like ‘92 with Cowans, ‘01 with Hughes, Friedel and Berkovic. Likes of Zeefuik and Giles when sitting 2nd and on the verge of something truly transformative for Blackburn Rovers, really?

I see, I thought you actually thought this place was representative… perish the thought! But not sure any other set of fans would be desperate to beat us just because roverboy95 or whoever on an obscure message board was slagging off some manager they are vaguely aware of…

Of course they are. You can’t be expecting to get a real picture of where the support is off a dozen reactionary posters on a message board… or from any messsge board.
