  1. He’s a fair point. Many second choice keepers don’t even play U21 games these days, so obviously can go months on end without a single minute of match action… then get chucked in a very high profile position.
  2. Certainly a strange atmosphere at Ewood after five years of Teflon Tony. On here? Exactly the same as it’s been for every manager (all forums are like this)
  3. Possibly, or through his agent or he’s a pal with one of their players (who all get handed a load of complementaries) A lot of an away allocation for big games ends up in the hands of hangers on as freebies. Bugger the loyal away support!
  4. More of a Burtons look, no?
  5. Sounds exactly like what a lot of coaches would say…
  6. … on a computer game.
  7. He’s not tall… so ergo must be a shit goalkeeping coach, seems to be the crux of the matter on here.
  8. Five years of going nowhere in particular with the last fella and you rarely heard a dissenting voice… the new fella? Who’s had us around the top 6 all season and winning a load of cup ties? Cops it most weeks after just five months. Strange old phenomenon was Teflon Tony…
  9. I imagine tickets for that away end were like gold dust, how has a ‘big Rovers fan’ ended up with one?
  10. Don’t tell a Czech they live in Eastern Europe!
  11. ‘Play offs? Of course we’ll go for it’. There you go, so maybe everyone shouldn’t get so worked up then when managers talk their usual platitudes pre match about ‘not looking at the table’, ‘hard to compete’ etc. The bloke is a winner, he knows we’ve a chance (but of course that shambolic window has narrowed said chance).
  12. And you know that how?
  13. Tries to be a clever bugger… but still mangles his sentence 😁
  14. That the same genius marketing director that doesn’t think we need to market the club to kids as they don’t like watching football, so we should sell them NFTs instead?
  15. Of course you were 😁
  16. So much cash at stake and PL sides continually make such ridiculous appointments for what is the most important position at the club…
  17. I imagine there’s nobody in employment at BRFC that knew 4 and 5 either. Good job we don’t bother with a programme…
  18. Keep the thread going, but this Brent character, come on mods, taking the piss now…
  19. Hmmm, very difficult as it’s been so long without even a play off sniff to gauge what the interest is at full price. But at £430 to £530, I’d say c14k.
  20. Ok, 10,000 fewer ST holders than we used to have. And I know most aren’t not going out of principle, but as JW always said it’s much easier to keep fans in the tent than trying to get them back. Once that habit is broken and you realise just how much of your weekend you used to give up, new hobbies, £4/500 in your pocket to go towards a holiday etc instead, it’s bloody difficult to get the fuckers back. Some will, of course, but unlike you, most ex-ST holders I know won’t ever be buying another. But it’s a ‘churn’ there will be a load of ‘new’ fans buying a ST for the first time on a promotion.
  21. Wrong end of the stick then, I thought you were saying ‘every fucker would be back like a shot if we got to the POs/promotion?’ Who are the fuckers that are coming back then if not lapsed fans?
  22. That’s just not the case unfortunately. We lost nearly 10,000 ST holders on relegation (a ridiculous amount not seen elsewhere, the Ke*n effect), a load of those will never step foot in Ewood again. Not a protest, not a boycott. They’ve just moved on in life. Now that doesn’t mean there isn’t a new generation of floating fan (or long-standing floater) that ‘pick their games’ who wouldn’t be straight on the ST bandwagon on promotion, but many of those long departed ST holders from a decade ago wouldn’t be a part of it…
  23. Wouldn’t just be the big Spanish two either. Italian clubs, ‘big fish in small pond’ clubs like Rangers, Celtic, Ajax, Benfica etc would also jump at it.
  24. They were still occasionally training on Pleckgate field (pretty much my back garden then) as late as the summer of 1994.
