Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
Mattyblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Full stadium, at Middlesbrough?! They get higher crowds than us, but their average gates aren’t vastly higher, but they have generally been a far better run football club, they actually ‘trade’. However, Wolves, they ain’t. -

Bang average manager but another example of how parachute money can propel even no marks like Parker to promotion. And it’s why the Dingles will be up there. -
It was mid April which made it even more surreal. They were a great side, but we looked like we were going to be up there with them in the first half of that season until a characteristic collapse in the new year…

I get that, but I’m talking about if the final day had gone differently. We’ll never know, and I’ll never change the day I experienced at Anfield, but if United had have won, we wouldn’t have just signed Matty Holmes…

He did ok at Bradford, so a loan to L2 would be sensible. Unfortunately he’s nowhere near Championship standard. -

He will be the new Ross Barkley down there. -
If Andy Cole had netted one of those 10 chances he had at West Ham, I wager we would’ve seen a very different summer of ‘95 and ergo the rest of the 90s. Obviously we wouldn’t swap Anfield for anything, but an interesting counter-factual nonetheless…

The LT has a weekly beer columnist, defo need to get them tapped up to get our Merce a wine gig.

Pretty much every random loanee that came in from 2013 to about 2017.
-
Just loved his whole demeanour, socks down his ankles, always showing for the ball, perfect angle and weight of pass every time, like a lanky Tugay.
-
Fairly typical for a fair chunk of Stoke away support in my experience

Arrigho Sacchi never played the game at any level and was one of the greatest managers of all time. Unless you see them work at Brockhall day in day out how do we know if a member of the coaching staff is good, bad or indifferent?
-
Take it Mourinho had no right to be a manager then, Simon?

v Stoke (h) - Saturday 27th August 3pm
Mattyblue replied to joey_big_nose's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The crowds are still well up on this time last season. Nearly 2,000 more home fans on than the late August game last year… -

He’ll get a decent reception, no question. -

Surprised that an out of work football manager for hire is taking a big job at one of the closest clubs to his house? -

Sky always say ‘Mowbray teams play good football’, so to be fair to fans of other clubs that rarely watched Rovers they will believe it. A few of us on here said he had re-built his reputation at BRFC and would get another decent Championship gig as he would be seen as a decent second tier manager within the game - the ‘one of the worst managers we’ve EVER had’ brigade weren’t for having it though… -
It’s a cracking blockbuster, don’t go in expecting Citizen Kane and you’ll enjoy it.

‘But a load of fans would’ve moaned ‘cos he was no good back then’ The answer to that, of course, being… so? -
v Bradford City (a) 23/08/2022 League Cup
Mattyblue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Because that manager approached the games with a shrug, it was painfully obvious that he would rather have been back home up Teesside in a cup midweek than playing a fixture. So it obviously rubbed off on the team. Footballers don’t need much of an excuse to sack it off. -
v Bradford City (a) 23/08/2022 League Cup
Mattyblue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They are a fourth division outfit, their fans will be used to watching *proper* shite teams week in week out. We are used to seeing, and so know, good second tier sides, so of course our standards are different. When somebody says ‘we were terrible today’ it’s in the context of the division we are playing in, not that we are so terrible we couldn’t go and stylishly beat Bradford, Hartlepool et al. -

As was Gallagher but they still got him re-signed up early (he had two years left on his existing deal).
