  1. Just shows the emperor’s new clothes world of ‘data’ that even a top forward in his day like JDT seemingly can’t see the wood for the trees. Will the ‘stats’ show Dack running and/or pressing (not that I’m seeing much of either from any of them at the minute) as much as a Dolan or a Szmodics? No, but is running like a headless chicken going to break down a well drilled defence or unlock one with a pass ‘through the lines’ (to use a modern parlance) that no other bugger in the squad would even spot? And does running about a lot mean you also have that knack of finding that little bit of space in the box? We are throwing the baby out with the bath water here…
  2. Imagine when we first had him on loan (where I thought he did a decent enough job as 6 foot plus young centre forward in a horror season), if someone had seen into the future and said ‘he’ll come back for £5million, BUT he will play as a wide man season after season. 🤷‍♂️
  3. We never take many to Boro and we certainly won’t this time with our away form and £31 tickets.
  4. How does passing the ball around in a laboured fashion ‘improve the value of the squad’? Is ‘data analysis’ honestly being interpreted in such a basic way that having a ‘90% pass completion rate’ or whatever, even if it’s largely ineffectual passing in your own half, is somehow ‘increasing value’ of players?!
  5. Well I’m sure it would be pretty obvious
  6. Why should Ian Pearce get more of a role in recruitment, and even the DofF job?
  7. And on social media it happens with every struggling player at every club. It’s pathetic, it’s uncalled for, but unfortunately it won’t ever change, that’s what the internet has created. However, there is no question that match going Rovers fans are some of the most patient around and surely that’s what matters over trying to tar a fanbase with the brush of a minority of sad acts online.
  8. Same with Jason Wilcox, think he went straight to Man City’s Academy whilst penning a LT column next to our Rev…
  9. Of course, but West Brom currently have that whiff of a spiralling club, and as the likes of Sunderland (and us) showed it is bloody hard to turn around in the short term.
  10. He also can afford to be choosy, his reputation as a top manager is finite, he makes the wrong decision with his next job, I.e going to a Championship club on a downward spiral and that hard earned reputation quickly dissipates.
  11. You reckon the Beeb will move Strictly? I mean they won’t want to be competing with a game like that…
  12. What do you expect him to say? ‘Yeah, just cracking on until me and my agent can coin it in next summer’ 😁
  13. Always used to make me laugh when some overseas based poster would have a go at Rovers fans/attendances etc. He would always reply with something like… ’I wouldn’t DREAM of going onto a Broncos forum and start slagging off lads from Denver, so **** off!’. 😁
  14. Michael Johnson on BBC athletics/Olympics coverage is another. Real gravitas.
  15. You had an agreeable chinwag with the CEO as he gave you some insights into the club, and that’s perfectly fine, I’m sure you learnt some interesting stuff. However, on you own admission you did not ‘put your opinions’ to him at all on all the potential initiatives you wanted him to pursue (and went on about all week before you went), I.e on ticketing. So you undertook no ‘effort’ to help improve the club, it was just an enjoyable afternoon of gossip with a gregarious club bigwig. So stop with the martyr routine.
  16. Being lectured at by the fella that literally put his much vaunted ideas back in his pocket as soon as Swag poured him a brew glass of cold water. 🙄 I’ll wait until we have a CEO that wants to listen.
  17. One person said that about JDT, a bloody silly bugger, obviously, but that’s always been the way with message boards. Think a few on here need to realise that a certain type of social media poster and the match going fan are two totally different breeds. And ergo need to stop using daft posts on the internet as a stick to beat what is actually a very patient fanbase at Rovers.
  18. Ewood an angry mob! 😁 There can’t be many more genteel places to watch football these days, maybe Craven Cottage…
  19. Not this again, a few dozen idiots got on his back at Birmingham. Generally he was given terrific backing throughout his poor seasons by match going fans (of course there were grumbles, but that’s football crowds). Something we should be proud of, he’d have got far more stick at most other clubs.
  20. Cash only according to this… https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/september/15/ticket-news--wigan-athletic-v-rovers/
  21. Unfortunately it is the modern game. Football is not immune to the toxicity that social media has brought into society. SM has largely replaced giving someone a slating in the boozer etc. But in more more extreme form due to the anonymous nature of it. You can’t stop it, but you can hope that the match going support get behind said players - and they certainly do here.
  22. No point, he’d only end up throwing his wide ranging agenda in the bin after a couple of sips of Swag’s special tea, just like that other fella did (you know the one that strutted about on here for a week beforehand)…
  23. A load of ST holders around me swerved it, felt more like a night game on that score.
  24. Not to be pedantic… but the game’s in October…
  25. Football message boards have always been and will always be like this, so there’s no point worrying about it. But are they backed at games? Yes, and that’s all that matters.
