  1. 10th under Souness, but we won a cup though… and 6th the year after.
  2. As does David Dunn, you find most ex pros do, even if they are local, just how we are known within the game itself.
  3. Oh but you do. ‘Low block’, ‘pivots’ and all the rest of the jargon is just that. They are not revolutionary new ways of playing the game, just re-badged aged old tactics, but it keeps the new army of analysts, both professional and the Twitter amateurs busy.
  4. Apropos of noting, but speaking of Stergiakis, at least he actually stands between the sticks from time to time. With no pure reserve team football anymore and the plethora of young keepers on the books, plus our tendency to exit cup competitions as rapidly as possible, Pears pretty much never plays a game… great work if you can get it, but a bloody odd career all the same.
  5. Probably, panic buying from a club with plenty of cash… enter NUFC January 2022.
  6. Great preview! Just seen that they won’t be allowed any more tickets as Rovers have said it isn’t ‘financially viable’. Err Ok.
  7. About £22 million (and this was the late 90s, not the 2020s) on Ward, Blake, Dailly and Davies. We didn’t half throw Jack’s cash down the toilet in that debacle of a year that inevitably ended in a calamitous relegation.
  8. Good preview, but… *Rovers*
  9. ‘Lancs minnows’… haughty stuff from a club with less than a third of our trophy count.
  10. Even their massive ‘M55 derby’ *snigger*, kicked off at 3pm the other week, so this won’t be moving KO times.
  11. What annoys me is how they’ve de-Roversd it. The mosaic club crest floor, the memorabilia all over every bit of wall… now just a generic, shabby bar with crap, expensive beer. The entire club in microcosm.
  12. Absolutely no responsibility taken by Waggott in that article as we slump to an almost unbelievable c7000 ST holders (well apart from the revelation that Cat A+ pricing at £40+ a ticket does not work for mid table second tier football in a town like Blackburn - give the man an MBA). It’s all ‘Covid’, ‘fans being uncomfortable’ mixed in with a load of marketing and corporate jargon and waffle. And a very low target bar of merely getting back to the already piss poor sales of 8,500 STs, seemingly no plan to get back to what was a standard 10,000+ sales under that now golden age of Gary Bloody Bowyer.
  13. Well you did, as you’ve said repeatedly how they are way too expensive and Waggott has messed up. In a contrarian mood today, I see.
  14. Only on here. ‘Salt o’ earth’ is our Tone with 99% of the fanbase.
  15. Nah, we should make these tardy buyers wear some kind of hat to distinguish them.
  16. So that’s 7,200 ST holders now 🎉
  17. Missed your chance. Went off sale at 3pm and no pay on the day.
  18. Can’t knock your optimism, but surely even you must have a tipping point when you’ll realise that all these ‘ifs’ are never going to come to pass?
  19. I’m a big fan of his podcast, obviously knows his stuff, but as he thinks Venky’s are now fantastic owners (he’s said it on numerous occasions on the podcast over the last year or so) he obviously doesn’t look further than the surface - I.e cash injections etc. The shell of a club we see week in week out in the publicity wasteland of the Championship wont be something he has much exposure too.
  20. But it was to do with prices in the 2000s. We had just finished 6th in the PL in 2003 by spanking Tottenham 4-0 at WHL… we then lost ST holders that summer. Mark Hughes created a top side, we then started the 2005/2006 season with a 16,000 crowd (the Tugay volley from a corner game) as STs had gone up again. We then saw booming crowds under Sam, who certainly wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea - why? Reduced tickets. Yes, a good team is good for gates, but as this club so is reasonably priced tickets.
  21. Correct, the attendances began to dwindle from 2003/2004 on the back of a top 6 finish - and throughout most of the Hughes era - who of course, was a top manager for us. It was ever increasing pricing that saw crowds drop, nothing do with what was on the pitch.
  22. They have already sold out the bottom tier, they have requested more…
  23. ‘Fickle fans’ from the bloke who stopped going himself several years back.
  24. Why pay when he gets all his scoops from *free* brfcs?
