  1. Indeed they do, as proven with £10 Wigan, a December Sky night game, being our biggest home turnout in the Championship since 2012, yet the club will always piss about with deals proven not to bring folk in.
  2. Old Photos of the Rovers. Obviously only parochials like me can translate
  3. You can only imagine that advertising revenues have collapsed (along with sales of the hard copy paper) so they are desperate for income. The pandemic could spell the end of a lot of standalone local papers , so to survive you may see full editorial mergers across the industry, so using here as an example, the LT with the Bolton News (it is halfway there already) or they fold completely.
  4. People will pay for quality journalism online. A good number of news outlets are making a good fist of it. However, for the LT? Not a chance, their traffic will fall off a cliff.
  5. I’ve watched it about 5 times start to end. The quality of the writing and acting, the drama, the humour, the characters. Just fantastic.
  6. Game of Thrones was getting close to toppling The Sopranos as my personal GOAT... then the final season happened.
  7. The town of Darwen is absolutely pivotal for the club. As Blackburn continues to change demographically and more and more Rovers supporting Blackburners move further afield, Darwen is a bedrock of support in the borough.
  8. This was her response: ‘My meaning, clear at the time but subsequently distorted beyond recognition, was that society was not an abstraction, separate from the men and women who composed it, but a living structure of individuals, families, neighbours and voluntary associations.’ So it was out of context, but of course generally western society has become far more individualistic this past 40 years, so I thought it was a good insight into where Boris sees the future of the Tory party (the red wall) that a man who knows his history would bring up the infamous quote in recent weeks...
  9. Thatcher never actually said that, i.e ‘every man for himself’, one of politics most misinterpreted speeches - even Boris is at it.
  10. The Ellis Short era had many parallels to here. An ever rising debt, absentee, overseas owner just paying bills and a revolving door of execs and hangers on. No wonder the club itself rots away.
  11. EFL plan: June to August behind closed doors to finish season (with play offs). https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8204283/amp/EFL-tell-clubs-players-holiday-not-start-training-mid-May.html
  12. Shut your eyes and the owner sounded exactly like David Brent (I mean accent/voice wise, Charlie boy was the one acting like him)
  13. ‘We need the teams to run out to music that is cutting edge’... so chooses a near 20 year old dance track.?‍♂️
  14. And they're the best! This past 8 years must have seen the worst collection of players 'perform' on our pitch for many a decade.
  15. A hollow title win for you then, James?
  16. A good percentage of said happy clappers were never seen again after 2012...
  17. Tottenham were getting a lot of flak last week. However, the reason Liverpool get more grief is their previous tone of moral superiority and sanctimony... ‘we are Liverpool, this means more’, ‘a club steeped in the Socialist ethos of Bill Shankly and our city’ and on it goes. They’ve been outed as greedy hypocrites no different than any other big football club.
  18. Ah but he may have meant ‘ye olde back in’t day’
  19. Yeah don’t think it was ever available to buy. Club wouldn’t be able to get it on sale quick enough these days...
  20. Think people forget how good Shearer was in the air, and he wasn’t particularly tall either.
  21. Great read as the scales fall out of the eyes of the LFC fans, yep, you are not a morally superior institution, just another club in the PL cesspit... https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=345137.0
  22. From memory the yellow keeper shirt was only ever worn that day.
  23. Good old days? 1980 - 2010 is a good a period as any. The 80s. When a club without a pot to piss in consistently challenged at the top of the second tier and won a cup. The 90s... say no more. 2000s, a post Jack world yet we were a solid PL club with some top managers and players, won a trophy, numerous semi finals and European campaigns. All thrown away in the early 2010s in just months of mismanagement and it isn’t due to rose tinted glasses that we fondly look back at the achievements of that previous 30 year period.
  24. Baggio was mid 2000s
