Yes it was compete shit. I was extremely down by it all. I hated the owners absolutely for what they were doing to my fantastic club. Ergo I was on marches, meetings, walk outs and the rest of it showing my ongoing pride in my club. Yet you were embarrassed to be a Rovers fan?
-
Never, ever I have been embarrassed by Blackburn Rovers. The club was under occupation by nefarious people, but that in no way impacted my view of a football institution going back nearly 150 years.
-
Shame for being a Rovers fan? I stopped reading there.

Don’t recall Kenny taking us into a season with one young loanee as the only keeper remotely close to the required standard?
-
Wasn’t he scoring and crediting goals for the U23s before Mowbray’s interview? Largely because like Nuttall before him he doesn’t seem to find that level of football particularly challenging.

The problem with having such a poor back up keeper is the lack of competition it creates. I personally think some of Raya’s issues were down to complacency and losing that sharpness.

European Champions League 2019/20
Mattyblue replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
English teams stroll through the groups for a nice little earner. People then tune in for the knockouts in February. You could make a competition out of it... call it the ‘European Cup’, something like that. -
3pm and challenging they’d have fetched a load, not so many will be travelling after their start, you’d wager...

Losing one game away at West Brom isn’t a ‘catastrophe’ anyway.
-
I thought it would be more, not too far, good price. Anecdotally I know a fair few going. Looks as if the spike in followings that began in the League 1 season and carried on into last season has now subsided and we will be back to our standard 1,000 or so for Saturday games.

I’m talking about young players and calling them out in the media, as is everybody else. Nothing to do with managers losing their rag behind closed doors.
-
If you only have 1 keeper up to the required standard it isn’t ‘just another injury’.
-
To be fair Bennett and some of the other ‘senior pros’ have largely been second division journeymen, but I digress. Fine with the rest of that. But why the need to do it in public?
-
Used to be meadows on here.
-
I presumed we were talking about the treatment of young players by various managers? No idea what Beckham had to do with it then?

Arbito’s an ex EFL ref, so I imagine he knows...

Championship season 2019-20
Mattyblue replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Looking forward to the next one. I’m a little too into the schadenfreude of it all. Worrying really. -
Of course it is justified. A talented player in danger of throwing it away. I am glad TM is taking him to task. Just interesting it is only young players that are called out publicly. I suppose if the ‘dressing room is run by the senior pros’ it isn’t surprising.
-
And Morecambe...
-
Young? He’d been in the team for 8 years and was England captain when that happened!
-
Then give him a good bollocking behind closed doors. Compare him to Ferguson who would protect young players to the hilt in public - to the extent that Giggs wasn’t even allowed to talk to the press for years. Or a Lee Sharpe who enjoyed the lifestyle but was never hung out to dry in public, but eventually sold when he was no longer up to the mark. Snidey doing the dressing down in the media when the player has no right of reply.

Fine as in at this stage we ain’t getting a keeper of much standing willing to hang around Brockhall for a few months. What isn’t fine is having Leutwiler here at all, but ‘we are where we afe’.
-
End of the day we need a third keeper, so fine. The issue was giving Leutwiler a new deal. Shocker of a keeper who is only an injury away from a sustained run in the team.
-
It’s only ever young lads called out in the media. Really strange when they are the one more likely to need an arm round them. The likes of Bell, Smallwood and Evans have put in many a stinker yet I’ve never heard a negative word in the press from him. For such a ‘good human’ he needs to work on his emotional intelligence.
