Not El Greco but the top of the ramp, 60's modern.

Another Saturday night of boxing is ahead of us with the main event for me being Spence Jr v Garcia on Premier Sports overnight from Dallas. Both with superb records, two real classy fighters, looking forward to it. Anthony Yarde v Lyndon Arthur is the main event domestically from Church House Westminster, with a decent undercard too, on BT Sports.

It was time for Tony to move on, he'd done a tremendous job for the club over the years, but Hughes wanted to bring new impetus and he did just that. Good players, good football and a desire to win, I loved the Hughes years. Can we get him back?

I'm not saying this is wrong, but its the sort of thing I can hear my dad saying, him being fiercely protective over Rovers and our players, they could do no wrong
-
Then he proceeded to kick the ball out of the ground

Remember that game well, the original match was postponed due to snow/ice, we sold out for the Saturday and still took thousands on the Tuesday. The dingles were going to derby on the Saturday and the police were worried, think they staggered the rearranged games midweek, it’s was to cold to scrap anyway. Notts County had a decent side, was Warnock the manager? First division side at the time? The Speedie incident was never a sending off

I wonder if the Rovers fans stood behind the floodlight pylon had reduced tickets because of the restricted view Echo what everyone has already said, without doubt the worst day I've ever had following football, the journey home was mostly stunned silence.

That was early 80’s when racism was rife across the UK and football was a breading ground for the brain dead. It Certainly wasn’t the case in early 90’s, but thanks for bringing it up.

Does anyone remember the Watford home game where ‘Whisper chocolate bars’ had a promotion on, handed out in the Blackburn End and launched at a young David James for 45mins
-
Its a great shirt, a great come back against a decent Swindon side and a Blackburn End going mental. Love seeing the chap walking round pushing his trolley selling tea/coffee and Bovril. They can't take away our memories.

Papa Bouba Diop former Fulham player has passed away. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55124939

That jab as you said earlier was superb from Joyce, he couldn't miss. Sounds bad, its making my eyes water thinking about a broken eye socket, but he's a professional boxer and should have carried on in my opinion. But its easy saying that sat in the living room miles away from a boxing ring.

Just watched the Tyson v Jones fight. Tyson was much fitter than anyone expected, Jones showed fast hands at times but held on for most of the fight and who can blame him with those Tyson bombs coming at him. Neither boxer disgraced themselves, flashes of the old magic at times, worth the £20. Dubois gave up last night, I’ve not seen a boxer give up like that, it’s usually stopped by the corner or the ref. His corner questioned his attitude a round earlier, telling him ‘This is the fight game Daniel’ but it wasn’t enough to convince Dubois. Serious questions over his attitude and desire.

2nd T20 in South Africa tomorrow. We got away with one last time out against an underprepared SA, Roy needs to get his act together, looking forward to it. I agree with Riverside above, test cricket suffers when players concentrate on the shorter game and all the riches that come with it. As a fan I’d much rather win the Ashes than any cup in the shorter game, but I love watching both forms of the game.

Tyson was unbeatable in his early career, a colossus until the money came rolling in and he took his eye off the ball. Roy Jones was also one of the best boxers to ever set foot in the ring, but that was at middle weight/Super middle. Both are absolute legends, but this tonight is a bit of a freak show for me. Tyson had little or no stamina at the end of his career in 2006, losing to 2 journeymen in Danny Williams and Kevin Mcbride, he won’t have much in the tank after 2 rounds. Jones will sit back, soak up the Tyson attack and win on points, unless Tyson catches him, he will still carry some significant power. I saw Hopkins fight Jones in Vegas a few years back, watched them at Mandalay Bay, that was a terrible fight, tonight will potentially be the same. Ok ok I’ve bought it......being a boxing fan and to once again see 2 legends pull on the leather was a chance I couldn’t miss.

Just watched the NZ vrs Argentina game which the All Blacks won at a canter after losing to them a few weeks ago. The highlight for me was actually before the game started, the All Blacks lined up for the Haka and Sam Cane walked forward, placed an All Black shirt with 10 Maradona on the centre spot, absolute class.

That over by Hendericks going for 27 was the clincher, I was worried up to that point o2g. Now for Saints to beat Wigan.

Very good I liked the quote from Maradona where he talked about giving his opponents a chance, because he drank heavily and took drugs: "Imagine what I could have been, what I could have achieved if I had been clean."
-
His other 400 games for Santos played in a tin pot league as I said. But can’t argue with your second paragraph, it’s all about opinions Jim, we’ve lost a great today. RIP Diego.

Problem I have with Pele, superb player that he was, he scored all his goals in a tin pot league in Brazil. Anytime you watch footage of Pele his greatest moments are often misses, 1970 world cup springs to mind, Banks save and that outrageous dummy on the keeper and his shot from the half way line.

Couldn’t disagree more. What he did at Napoli was similar to what Shearer did here, unfashionable side and won the league against all the odds, very few of the ‘greats’ have that in the locker. 4 World Cups, won it in 86. The greatest player of all time, but it’s all about opinions darren

Diego Maradona has died, the greatest player to ever grace the game in my opinion. I hated him for years after the World Cup, he had his demons, but what a footballer. Sad day for the football community across the globe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54810392

I don't know why, but giving tickets away put me in mind of this game, what was I thinking........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmn-rMxDjyg

The Undertaker has at times sent shivers down my spine, my son has been a fan since 2000's. Me being an old **** still pines for Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks! American wrestling is a farce, but they're fit lads/lasses and deserve respect for the entertainment value and thats born out by the fact I've watched The undertaker and had goose bumps running down my spine. End or an era, so I'm told

Amsterdam for 3 days was like a night out in Blackburn late 80’s early 90’s, just tremendous.
