  1. You shouldn't be calling posters defeatist then Mr Clitheroe, especially when you've got no answers to the burning question yourself. We've had 10yrs of decline under the current owners, its not hard to see that we're going nowhere, regardless of whoever the manager is.
  2. Coyle was poison and useless, Mowbray is neither of those things. Howe isn't an option as you quite rightly point out, so give us a couple of names, plenty out there by your own admission?
  3. Some of us live the real world Mr Clitheroe, we can see whats happening in front of us, the quality of players at our disposal, our budget, the coaches and staff in the background, the owners. Whilst others think we'll go up every year, they're the ones throwing the toys out of the pram now promotion has gone down the drain, you're one of those by the sound of things. The smart money was on us not going up this year, look at the squad, look at the players, not a chance, the same next season for me unless a large injection of cash comes in, we simply can't compete and changing the manager won't make a difference in my opinion. But opinions are like arseholes, we all have one, I hope yours is right and mine is wrong. Who are you going to bring in to replace Mowbray?
  4. Let’s get Mick McCarthy in then chaps, sounds like just the man we need to push on, make that next step. Give me a minute whilst I change my vote
  5. Bringing in a new manager won’t improve things in my book chaps, that’s the point really. I’ve seen some right donkeys mentioned earlier today - Mick McCarthy a poor mans Allardyce, kept Ipswich just above the relegation zone season after season, do you want that? Be careful what you wish for, big Mick is exactly the type of manager we’d end up with, give me Mowbray all day long.
  6. He needs to be given 10 games next season with Dack back and a fully fit squad, with a bit of cattle trading over the summer. I’d rather have that, than bring In one of the usual suspects who will spend the next 3 seasons keeping us in mid table and repeat....... The club isn’t geared up in any way to make the step into the Premiership, we never will be under Venkys and that’s the hand Mowbray or any manger that comes in has been dealt.
  7. Jesus it really is a race to the bottom looking at that dross. Hughes would never be tempted back, but he’s the only 1 out of that list I’d replace Mowbray with. @DarrenRover Said yesterday about an up and coming managed from Rennes, few of my mates want to see a hungry young manger, I’d not be against that, but the clubs not in a position to make such an appointment. I doubt Waggot/Cheston and Venkys between then could find Rennes on a map, let alone know who the manager is, we don’t have that kind of knowledge at the club currently. Stick with Mowbray for me, unless they can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
  8. I hear Leeds brought a few over today, loads of police outside the pubs on the barbary coast. Blackburn isn't blessed with boozers these days, but you wouldn't want to spend an afternoon in those establishments, Covid19 would be the least of your worries.
  9. You could bring Guardiola in and we'd not get promoted... The clubs got a bit of stability back under Waggot and Mowbray, but we're going nowhere under Venkys, thats the reality of our situation. Someone has just suggested Chris Hughton and Mark Robins, Ainsworth or Johnson, if thats the market we'd be aiming for and i doubt Hughton would come here, I'll stick with Mowbray thanks very much. All that said........ Give Mark Hughes £15m to spend on players and a big bonus to get us up, job done We'd not be coasting through games thats for sure.
  10. Lambert left because the money he was promised to rebuild the side never materialised. He gave Venkys the option, give him the money promised when he signed, or he'd walk, they didn't deliver and he walked, fair play to the man I say.
  11. Thats an honest assessment from an honest manger, he understands and feels the frustration the same as the rest of us do. We haven't had honesty since those ******* took us over, its always been about self preservation from Agnew to Shaw, from Coyle to ***t to Singh. What he's doing here is calling himself and the players out, we're not good enough to make the play offs, thats been clear for 2 seasons and he has to improve us or leave. But in the clamber to replace Mowbray, have a think about the possible replacements - Can you find 1 manager willing to come who can build a Championship promotion side with no money? Warnock was the man, we had him and then lost him, another catastrophic decision, but you'll not find many more out there. The last decision before Mowbray and Waggot relegated us, be careful what you wish for.
  12. Sounds good to me, all good here pal, thanks for asking.
  13. Wee Dougie was the same, absolutely useless and a racist, need I go on? How the hell are you by the way? Long time no speak
  14. Like your mate Coyle you mean? Who used to jump around and wave his arms about, doughnuts used to motivate the players. He was as useless as your tips Mercer.
  15. You should never stop harping back to promotion winning seasons JH, we're a small mill town club, promotion doesn't happen very often for clubs like ours. Look at the dross before Mowbray came in, he's brought a bit of success to a basket case of a club, we should never forget that. But as I said in my original post, that only takes you so far in this game, we need to see progress in the early part of next season or you could argue his times up.
  16. I'll give you K**n OJF, but I'm not having any of the others above Coyle, he was absolutely useless and a bullshitter.
  17. Football fans have short memories, you're only as good as your last game, even the Utd fans started to turn on Ferguson towards the end, its the nature of the beautiful game. Tony Mowbray arrived here taking over from probably the worst manager in Blackburn Rovers history and we've had some cr@p under Venkys. He inherited a squad on easy street, unfit, uninterested and not fit for purpose, we went down, not his fault. Behind the scenes we had a bean counter running the show, Mowbray helped bring Waggot to the club, a man that at the very least has experience of running a football club, exactly what we needed. The following season was a good season for the fans, new grounds, full terraces, big fish in a small pond and promotion won away at Doncaster, great night for all concerned, will live long in the memory, back up at the first attempt, job done. We are now coming to the end of his second season in the Championship, our league position tells us we are probably going to finish higher than last season, so progress is being made, but not as fast as some would like, me included. His star striker buys have been a disaster, some believe he was forced into the purchase of Brereton, I think he wilfully bought Gallagher, both have flopped so far and he will pay the price is they don't improve, no doubt about that. Looking towards next season, he needs to be given a chance until October/November time for me, see if he can't pull this Championship seasoned squad into shape. We have a decent first 11, but they're not good enough to make a sustained challenge for the playoffs, he needs to add some steel, some more experience that will complement the likes of Lenihan, Dack and dare I say it Gallagher. You look at the football league as it stands, I'd much rather be in Blackburn Rovers shoes than Sunderland, Bolton, Sheff Weds and Wigan, so its not all doom and gloom, is it?
  18. I'm with Tyrone, I'll be staying well clear, but I do appreciate the need to support these businesses. Just because Johnson has eased the lock down doesn't mean this is over, far from it. The safe bet is to continue to self isolate as much as possible and stop the increase in infection rates, which we all know is are going up across the North of England.
  19. Obviously I hope the club survives, but as a side note I hope Paul Cook loses his job, the mans a complete ****.
  20. We dominated that game tonight for large parts but the end product was missing as usual. The owners have given him time and money, the sides experienced in this league now which is extremely important, he needs to produce the goods. I'd give Mowbray until November and if we don't look like making that next step up to play off contenders he's got to go.
  21. Is anyone else watching this set from Bowie at Glastonbury recorded in 2000? Legendary stuff and sadly missed.
  22. It’s a very good point, but listening to the cows moo from 4am every morning for the past few weeks has softened the blow somewhat
  23. Just bringing the thread back to food, I’m going here for the next birthday/occasion, comes highly recommend: https://www.3acres.com/menus/ As a side note I bought steaks, sausages and Lamb from my new local butcher on Saturday, all of which roam/roamed freely in the fields across from my house. Now that’s buying local.
  24. You don't need a facebook login to view this superb collection of photos from the area, some real crackers, most I've never seen before: https://en-gb.facebook.com/groups/blackburnnowandthen/?ref=group_header
