To be honest tomphil I don't know many managers these days that fit the bill, its a hefty cheque book or bust for many. Yes you can point to 2/3 that have done it, but then you can point to 15/20 that haven't.

We finished 11th this season As BDS says above, giving the manager time may just work to our advantage, the sides got more experience in this league, the manager knows we have a number of weak links that aren't capable of pushing on, look to replace them. Mowbray knows what it takes to get out of this league, we have to hope he can pull it off.

Rovers fans on the Darwen End? it was years after the fences went up? Maybe an early initiative to get the fans behind the team from both ends and stick the away fans in the enclosure? Great atmosphere and superb shirt.

I don't follow your thinking on this Rev. Mowbray already has 1 promotion under his belt at Ewood, he won a Championship league title and gained promotion to the Premiership with West Brom, but you want to replace him with a coach who has never bought a player and never managed a football club, he was running the under 14's a few years ago! Thats just bonkers, with respect. Mowbray needs to bring in a new keeper, a new defender to replace Tosin, potentially Tosin himslef! and do some tinkering around the edges. If after 10 games we don't look like challenging then yes get rid, but not for Damien Johnson, that would be madness and show that we've learnt nothing from appointing cr@p coaches in the past.

This season has seen the emergence of Armstrong, his finishing and all round game has significantly improved under Mowbray, the same can be said about Nyambe. We have Gallagher who will be decent at this level, Dack to come back and Lenihan has all the attributes to play at a higher level, a decent nucleus of a team. The assumption that we're going backwards, when in fact we've finished higher in the league than last season with more points and players are improving, simply isn't correct. Of course I'm not saying everything is perfect, we need to improve several positions starting with a keeper, but the side continues to gain experience at this level, which is extremely important and a few additions gives us a better chance than rolling that dice in my opinion marton.

I can see the bigger picture and it doesn't involve poaching Aston Villas manager

Keeping up the comedy theme I see

You're quite right its the clubs job and they seem to think we're better of with Mowbray, I happen to agree with them simply because I can't find anyone who could replace him and get us promoted, in fact I can see one of two that would probably send us the other way! If we'd had a terrible season, flirted with relegation i could see the benefits of bringing in a new man, but we haven't, its steady away and nothing wrong with that for now.
-
The original point was around sacking Mowbray for someone better, You’re looking for someone who can do more with less, I agree with you, that’s what we need. Can you name me someone who can bring that illusive quality to Ewood? Because if you want Mowbray out, you need a replacement.

Rest easy TS, it won't be happening, I can assure you of that

Here is a link to spending: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-brentford/transfers/verein/1148 How many 'better managers' have done more with less in recent times? Once you've answered that and probably given me Warnock and Wilder more recently, I'll give you 10 that haven't. The pool of managers around at the moment is probably the worst I can ever remember, either that or money is a much bigger factor than it once was, I think its a bit of both.
-
Brentford have spent £30m this season I read somewhere, they brought a few quid in also, but thats massive by championship standards, Leeds have done the same. I bet Mowbray wished he could sell the current squad for 30m and then spend it again! You'll always find exceptions to the rule, cherry pick certain clubs, but for every 1 club you provide I'll give you 10 that don't fit the narrative and we are one of them with or without Mowbray.

Even using the numbers above shows we're miles away from challenging HBM. https://motleedsnews.com/news/theyve-done-a-brilliant-job-but-sean-dyche-delivers-verdict-on-leeds-makes-60m-claim/
-
I saw an interview with Dyche yesterday who claimed that Leeds current wage bill with bonuses is double that of burnleys - £60m+, you can guarantee West Brom is massive also. Money doesn't automatically buy success as we know, but it helps, especially in todays market. Gives you some idea what Tony and the club are up against.
-
They must have seats facing away from the pitch, Downing is quality, must be kept at all costs.
-
I bet Mercer had a fiver on it
-
I still don't understand this appetite that some posters have to replace the manager? You must believe that the current crop or players are good enough to go up? or that a new manager can bring in enough quality on free transfers to get us promoted? I can't think of a manager that can do either of the above.
-
Never forget the fans on the pitch at Doncaster dancing and singing his name, can't add anything more than MarkBRFC.
-
Because he's a ****.
-
I've certainly got some sympathy for the fans and plenty for Dave Whelan, but that **** of a manager deserves everything thats coming his way, the sack hopefully.

Nice write up in the Telegraph about Danny Graham: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18606621.rovers-danny-graham-gamble-proved-nothing-sort/ The striking position is the hardest position on the pitch to fill as a manager, although some would say the keeper this season......This is one of the reasons why I could never understand posters hammering Rhodes week in week out "All he does is score goals" yes and bleedin lots of em, exactly what he's paid to do! Danny Graham was a bit of a love hate figure for me, sometimes he looked laboured, unfit and not interested, then he'd go on a scoring run and all would be well in the world again. Very good servant to the club in difficult times, will be fondly remembered, in our house at least.
-
Fingers crossed dareenrover - I'd take administration and relegation to league 2 now if it gets rid of The 3 stooges in Pune. As many posters are alluding to, we're going nowhere under the current regime and I firmly believe changing manager will have zero impact in the grand scheme of things. Its the owners we need out.
-
Mowbrays going nowhere, so lets hope that over these next few weeks we can Dack back in some sort of shape, give the rest of the squad time to shake of any knocks, replace the keeper as a matter if urgency and do a little cattle trading. This thread has 267 pages, we have another thread around a similar theme and so far I've only seen 2 posts that in my opinion make any sense in replacing Mowbray. Cowley brothers is one - Young, up and coming, a desire to succeed. Gareth Ainsworth - Lots of experience, still young, local lad, Rovers fan. The rest are no better and offer nothing different to Tony.
