  1. Are you serious phili? Lenihan, Van Hecke, Rothwell and Nyambe have been replaced and upgraded? Wage budget under control? Really? You're in for a rude awakening if we go with what we've got right now, the relegation thread will be resurrected and I'll be doing it.
  2. Bournemouth haven't spent any length of time in 4th division since 1970's - Oh wait a minute.......
  3. You get nothing for making the playoffs.
  4. What wonderful owners we have, we should all be thankful for the money they're ploughing into this wonderful club of ours. You and islander carry on inflating the prices, 24hrs to go.
  5. I'm with JH on the fee, we don't have £5m for 1 player, we need to buy an entire team with that, but this deal is perfect for a club like ours with no money, its a win win situation for us.
  6. Mikhail Gorbachev the former soviet leader and widely acclaimed for bringing an end to the cold war has died. Nobel Piece prize winner also. How we could do with a man like Gorbachev leading Russia right now!
  7. A new poster threw that hook in yesterday, claiming insider knowledge and got a number of bites. Gullible is the word......
  8. @mackemlad You will find that on here Mowbray was vilified and in some quarters hated by posters, but back in the real world, Ewood Park and stadia around the country, you'd never hear a Mowbray out chant, fans recognised the job he'd done, working for the worst owners in football, but many also acknowledged he'd out stayed his welcome and wanted him gone. That isn't the managers fault, thats the owners fault for not sacking him, but they don't like paying up contracts, so they kept him on, bonkers right......? Mowbray got us promoted out of league 1 at the first attempt, something you lads can probably relate to, even with big gates and a decent budget its not easy, but we made it at the first attempt. We then spent a number of seasons treading water in Championship, which we'll continue to do with our budget, you need pots of cash to get out of this league and we'd don't have any compared to Premiership yo yo clubs. Along the way we saw players like Harvey Elliot on loan, a regular starter for Liverpool now, we say Tosin Adarabioyo a regular in Fulham side and a quality defender, we saw Van Hecke last season who will go on to bigger and better things, Harrison Read now playing in Premiership for Fulham, all on loan and out of our budget sadly. On the transfer side of things, give Mowbray a few quid and he's usually excellent in transfer market. Bradley Dack was his first real purchase, probably the best player at the club, but suffered 2 acl injuries, £15m player all day if he hadn't been injured, bought him for £750k. Adam Armstrong bought for under £2m, sold for almost £20m with addons. Ben Brereton bought for £7m with addons and will probably be sold for £20m, Rothwell was bought for peanuts, mismanaged his contract and walked out for free, a £10m midfielder all day long in the current climate. Alex Neill certainly has something about him, but loyalty clearly isn't his strong point, but you'll do ok with Mowbray, he'll steady the ship and have you safe this season. If the owner can find a few quid he'll bring in some quality too I'm sure, as our transfers for a fee clearly show. But like most clubs in this league, you'll never make the next step up unless you spend big, money talks in this league and most clubs simply don't have enough to sustain a challenge for 40+ games of a gruelling championship season, but I wish you luck. Anyway back to Blackburn Rovers where our new manager has just announced he wants 4 transfer windows, including the current one, to make a difference, back to treading water it is.....
  9. On the odd occasion I find myself in the same room as Sky Sports news it makes my heart sink listening to the numbers being paid and talked about for players. West Ham, yes West bleedin Ham paying £50m for 1 player and here we are struggling to find £1m here and there to plug gaps in the squad. Has the gulf ever been bigger between Premiership and Championship?
  10. I didn’t go to Spurs that night but listened on Radio 5, it was the main game for once. I can’t remember what I did last week but I recall the goal like it was yesterday, then disappointment at it being ruled out.
  11. Our new manager looks like he's been here for years working with those reprobates in Pune, obviously frustrated and probably relieved at the same time. Looks a man under pressure already to me.
  12. You said he was a busted flush when he was here, thats absolute tripe, we'll probably never see another goal scorer like Rhodes here again, he was a goal machine that went to Boro for £10m. I wouldn't want him back here, no ney never, but that doesn't take away from the fact he was a brilliant goal scorer for us.
  13. Are you on the piss today Sparks? A busted flush 🤣
  14. You have to get over the half way line to score goals, not been our strong point so far this season. But Rhodes was superb here, an absolute goal machine.
  15. I remember us signing Sean Curry from Liverpool reserves back in around 86/87? Exciting to have someone from Liverpools setup on our books, but he was hopeless, don't think he played much, similar to Paul Mackinnon around the same time, wasn't he a Tony Parkes signing as caretaker manager? absolute bobbins.....
  16. Lancashire 53/2 from 9 against Sussex in semi-final of Royal London Cup, we won the toss and elected to bat first. A rainy Sedbergh seems a millions miles away from today.
  17. I’m quoting John Williams, maybe you know better, but I doubt it.….
  18. He subsidised the club to the tune of 5000 season tickets every year, nobody thinks he had 5000 season ticket books under the bed.... Venkys, if they had the desire, could also look at industrious ways to generate income, selling the training ground shouldn't have been one of them.
  19. Thats what Jack did, he bought 5000 every year to help balance the books, you have to have a will to succeed, our lot barely have a pulse.
  20. Lets call that an extra £7m in gate receipts over a season and thats being generous - yes do carry on.
  21. It really does baffle me how fans just tow the party line, have fallen for the spin coming out of the club and have little or no ambition beyond that. How did Wolves get out of this league? How are Boro spending money an very good players, how about Hull City a few years back? Blackpool spent more than we did last season. We used to be a small town club with massive ambition, since these idiots took us over we are a small town club with no ambition.
  22. Dyche is out of Sunderland’s league with his £5m a year wage demands. Mowbray is perfect for them right now, a club hanging around in league 1 for years, he’ll give them stability and Van Hecke if we’re not careful.
  23. They didn’t have much of a choice, but filled the managerial position in quick time, could you imagine us doing that…..would take weeks if not months in the same situation. Mowbray will do well there, I wish him well.
  24. He wouldn't come out and say anything at all if he was shit. Clearly he's got plenty of time for Benson and praises him personally which is good enough for me.
  25. I was answering a question on Mowbrays reception when he comes back to Ewood, do I really need to explain that to you? I suppose you’ll be booing him as you never liked him in the first place 🙄
