For all the talk of: ”Brereton should sign a new deal to show some loyalty to the club after we spent 7M on him and he was rubbish for 3 years” We should be doing a better job at standing by Dack. He was our best player for 4 or 5 years. He deserves the chance to prove on the pitch he can or can’t do what is being asked of him.

Here’s what I don’t understand. We’ve subbed Brittain, Dolan and Gallagher on now. That means if we want to put Dack on, we can only really sub on BBD off, who’s our biggest threat.

Szmodics getting a bit of unfair treatment for me this evening. He’s only been as bad as everyone else. Hirst on the other hand has so far done absolutely nothing.

I don’t care what Dack can’t do. We’re absolutely desperate for what he can do.

They look much more up for it. I’d be going 3-5-2 for 15 minutes to get a better hold of the game. Get Szmodics into central midfield and tell Hirst and Brereton to play as a front two.

I would put it down to us playing first team players in the U21s more and like you say, the top clubs best young players aren’t playing in U21 football.

I’ll lay any bets that you like we won’t get auto promotion matched at Betfair. We might get top six because as you say, the league is weak. But across the course of the season Sheff United, Norwich and Burnley will be considerably ahead of the other teams. I could absolutely see a Lanclassico in the playoffs… it would be great fun at Wembley.

Fun fact, I worked at United whilst they had Mourinho as manager and he sacked off all GPS data in training as he felt players where being picked because they where athletic in training rather than good footballers. They finished 2nd that year, nobody has come close since. EDIT before the Data police come at me, I realise this is entirely unconventional in the modern game and within the football community is probably considered to be ‘dinosaur’ type behaviour.

I think the loss of Mane (and the fact Nunez hasn’t replaced him) has really hit them hard. I think there’s something in the fact that Mane left for another big club. They needed to sign someone and Nunez has the attributes but it hasn’t happened yet. Either way, I agree, midfield is a massive problem. Can they sign Rice? Bellingham? I like Savic at Lazio, they should get him.

Ayala had a really interesting role yesterday, he basically played as a 90s AC Milan sweeper. No idea where he got that from.

Arteta is a fantastic manager, by the way. Arsenal where a shambles and had been for years before he took over. He’s had great backing, but has got all the decisions right. Martinelli, Jesus, Odegaard, Saka, Smith Rose, Saliba, Ramsdale all have come on brilliantly. Ramsdale should be England No1 for me.

Can you have a luxury right back? I’d find a way to play him for his attacking capabilities, even if it meant the team where worse defensively. Having one of the best playmakers in the world playing right back is incredible really.

I must be watching a game here, I think Elliott and Henderson especially haven’t done what the Liverpool midfield relies on (pressing, quick turnover) and have cost them the game whereas Partley has been brilliant. It speaks volumes that Firmino was basically unused last season and is now their best striker. Salah’s thrown his toys out, Nunez isn’t adapting, Jota’s out of form. Anyway, I digress. No idea what VVD has just done there, that’s dreadful defending.

That’s just the point though, we do hide a significant amount of misery and nastiness. The easiest way to money out of this would be to let the misery and nastiness take over! TAA is an elite right back, the Liverpool midfield is non existent and the loss of Mane (and Nunez not being of the same standard) is a huge psychological blow. Liverpool need at least two new central midfielders and need to find a way to sort Thiago’s injury record.

Ironically the data shows if we don’t moderate anything and turn on his into a negativity filled bitch fest more people turn up!
