I like the way you play. I follow you vicariously through Welcome to Wrexham. You have some big players which is always an asset. I wish you well for the season. Just not the next match. By the way, the concept of being kicked in the friendly has a much more positive connotation than being kicked anywhere else. I will adopt that as part of my lexicon of descriptive phrases 😉

New Sammie strikes -
Great in depth piece in the Times yesterday on Adam. He is capturing the media attention in a positive way. They see him as different and someone special. JDT not so much. “Even last season had ups and downs. Jon Dahl Thomasson, the Blackburn head coach and an initial champion of Wharton, developed doubts about his work off the ball and froze him out for four months. It was the stick, rather than the carrot, and not an approach that necessarily works with a highly intelligent footballer who keenly analyses the game and prefers explanations.” Clown of the first order.

Any youngster contemplating a loan with us should look at how we develop players like Wharton and Raya. Although some loanees have been duds, Harvey Elliott never looked back, Tosin just moved to Chelsea and Branthwaite is on a roll.

That’s a fact. Check the wages league and our sale of Wharton and we are still skint. No surprise why Ipswich are about to be in the Premier League. Owners with a long term vision, top notch manager and shrewd but significant buys. https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/championship-wage-bills-2023-24-leeds-leicester-southampton

I can see why they are called Sheffield Wednesday. I have been worrying about this game since Wednesday. 😉 -

Sadly in our season the word comfortable is not one I would associate with a a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. This lot have been unlucky and the new manager has given them hope. And they are fighters. I hope Leeds or Sunderland Rovers turn up not Bristol City Rovers. I think it may be 1-1. And we might end up happy with that after a close shave. -
I tell you what. We have signed some wrong’uns in our time. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/12288180/anthony-stokes-celtic-jail-ordeal-hibs/amp/

From Sunderland AFC News “As much as there’s pressure on Dodds and the players to finish the season on some kind of high, there’s arguably even more pressure on owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and sorting director Kristjaan Speakman. The pair have arguably landed the club in this predicament with some poor transfer planning and managerial decisions. Sunderland lack quality across the pitch and experience overall, and with a manager to hire in the summer, it’s certainly making for a critical pre-season on Wearside.” FYI The owner has a 64% ownership. Oh and he is 26. Probably thinks he is playing 3D FIFA. -

Fine result at the perfect time for us. Attackers have confidence and defence playing well. We need that winning feeling around the dressing room. Confidence fuels momentum. Hope we can give some of the hopefuls a run for their money now. We were a hopeful this time last season.
