  1. Not really no.Szmodic refused to play in pre season, he took part when the league kicked off again.
  2. Or nobody else wants him. We got Gueye and Ohashi done quickly last summer from first being linked in the media to them putting pen to paper
  3. Mowbray had minimal input and say on the transfers at Sunderland. He said as much in a few interviews he has done since leaving, also pressured to give certain players minutes
  4. Sorba Thomas signed a 3 year deal with Stoke
  5. Jdt was asked about links with the Boro job at the sweden presser and he didn't rule it out. Into 4/1 in some bookies
  6. Wrexham will double or treble his wages. We have left it too late to negotiate new deals. Fully expect the quartet of Tronstad, Brittain, Travis and Hyam to be sold. To be replaced by loans or older players on 1 year contracts. Venkys out
  7. Back when we complained about it we believed part of transfer funds received would be put back into recruitment. Gestede has made it clear that the budget is set and it doesn't go up when we sell a player.Id rather these players stayed for the season and leave on a free if the money received for them just means the owners send less over
  8. Yeah but those clubs don't start moaning about not having any money and say they can't spend in the transfer market We leave it to late to start negotiating new contracts no doubt about it,if Dolan had been offered more money with 2 years left on his deal then he would have signed. Travis, Brittain ,Hyam and Tronstad should have been made contract offers last summer and if we couldn't get deals done then look to sell them with 2 years left and use the money on replacements like normal run clubs do
  9. Gestede already said in those podcasts that a left sided centre back would be targeted. We need a centre back
  10. We ain't well stocked. Hyam and forever injured Carter. Wharton has been out injured for over a year we can't go into the season counting on him.
  11. If we really do have an interest in Drameh then that points towards Brittain leaving
  12. Surely they would only put their son in the position if the plan was to be ambitious and try to take the club forward I don't know them but they are hardly going to put their son as their face on the ground when they know the majority of the fanbase want them out and leave him to face the supporters anger as they continue to sell anyone of worth and replace with freebies, loans and signings with a fee no greater than £1 million
  13. We had Derek Shaw before Waggott If it's not Gestede it will just be another Shaw/Waggott. This move to get rid of Waggott is just an attempt to shift the blame onto him and away from Pascha and the owners
  14. Suhail would have wanted Broughton out. Broughton recommended that part of the Wharton fee was used improve the squad. Suhail nor the owners wanted that.
  15. Agreed.Work experience Gestede moving up and still stuck with Pascha and our owners
  16. Sell Brittain for £3 or £4 million and replace him with a kid from Villa's academy sounds about right for Venky owned Rovers
  17. But those big clubs could have bought him in the January for the price Palace did and loaned him back to us like we asked Palace to do. I know football is mad these days and clubs do stupid things but surely if the big clubs your Liverpools your city's Arsenal's etc wanted him they would have come in when they knew we needed money instead of waiting till summer where we might have been in a better position to hold out for more. I think there was something putting them off with him and plus we were struggling last season and even with Wharton I honestly don't think results would been much different so just another few months trodding along with out of form our poor players alongside him. I accept more clubs than just Palace would bid for him in the summer which would have pushed his price up a little but not some of the figures being spoken about Rovers fan or not surely he would have had to have pushed for a move away in the summer especially when Szmodic was sold and we spend peanuts on unknown replacements .We should have been having a push and building around himself and Szmodic .The Whartons are rovers fans they are probably as fed up of the ownership as the majority of us are so for me he would have wanted to move up a level by summer anyway
  18. I'm not missing the point. I was obviously against the sale and its a joke he had to go so early due to us needing the money but I think for the lads own career he would have had to move up the following summer anyway...yeah we probably would have got a couple of million more but not fees like £30 million that's been suggested and it would have been clubs like Palace evertons etc buying him a mid table club.
  19. It would have been paid over his contract, Liverpool City Arsenal Spurs etc etc etc could have put 4 or 5 million on that seasons books without any issue
  20. January or not if the big 6 thought they could get a good deal on a player then they would have been in for him.If they where really rating Wharton and thought 18 million was a bargain they would not have cared it was January. I don't think Wharton was having a very good season ,moments of pure class and quality but in the main certainly December onwards our midfield was being over run and we were conceding a lot and losing I think we would have got a few million more if sold in the summer with other clubs joining the race it wouldnt have been big 6 in for him nor would we have received bids of £30 million like some people here believe
  21. But all the other clubs knew what he was available and none of the big clubs bit, if he was being rated externally as he should have been the big 6 would have been falling over themselves to sign him for that money . They could have done that deal they ain't weren't gonna come in in the summer and pay much more for him He also wasn't being involved at under 21 level yer man from Bournemouth had 2 senior caps and loads of big teams after him, if it wasn't for the release clause Bournemouth would have got more money for him
  22. What we think doesn't matter no club is paying £50 million for Wharton from a championship club. After 30 games in the prem he is worth more than £50 million. The lad Bournemouth have just sold looks excellent and had many big clubs in for him alongside Madrid.None of these clubs came in for Wharton when he was available for a pittance for a player of his quality
  23. It isn't an obsession over under 21 caps it's a valid argument. If he was being seen as the best young player/best young midfielder in the country/outside the premier league he would have been making those squads no question. I can't understand what you don't get here...the under 21s is supposedly for the best of that age group Wharton didn't make one squad so quite clearly he wasn't being rated externally as he should have been. January or not if he was as rated as he should have been then more than Palace would have been in for him at that price. What was stopping all the big clubs taking him?
  24. He has also been capped twice for his country and Is recognised as one of the best young defenders in the country with many top clubs registering an interest. Wharton had only played Championship and hadn't even recieved an under 21 cap.Wharton was never going to be recognised as one of the best young midfielders in the world playing for a championship side.
  25. Didn't gestede say in one of those podcasts that a right back would be a transfer Target this summer Said about wanting competition for Brittain, so if that's the case probably planning on loaning Duru out again
