January Transfer Needs
islander200 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Who was most likely just repeating what the club(Gestede) have been saying. I can't find it now but I listened to a podcast with Sonny last season and he said he was happy here but the club hadn't started talks on a new deal. Il be very surprised if he ends up back in Norway -
January Transfer Needs

We should be spending a bit of money on a centre back that Is better than any of our defenders. But bringing back O'Riordan will leave us with Miller, Pratt,McLoughlin, Wharton and Carter 6 centre backs. Doesn't feel like they will look to bring in another defender which will be a mistake. Unless O'Riordan is being brought back for us to have a look at him and if we do sign an experienced centre back will then be sent back to Doncaster for the rest of the season. Or if Carter or Wharton are expected to be out longer term. I just don't see them having 7 centre halves registered in the squad and be harsh now to leave Pratt out in favour of O'Riordan -

He has taken off Gudjohnson In nearly every match mid second half. Lots to be critical about but apart from the big spenders you don't see many teams number 1 goal threats being rested and left out For example Derby wouldn't leave Morris out or Pompey wouldn't leave Laing out We would have all been going mad on here if Gudjohnson had started on the bench v Millwall and we ended up not scoring and drew or lost the match -

Not watched the interview. Did he mean he has spoken with the owners regarding the January window or just that he has spoken directly to the owners since he has joined the club? -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Yes but Gestede and Owen dictate to the recruitment team what markets to be looking in. It won't have been the scouts who came up with the idea of targetting cheap players from relegated teams from leagues below championship standard. Mafoumbi or however you spell it came in due to a contact of Gestedes. I'm not a big fan of Waggott but if it had been his choice then I don't believe Ismael would have been appointed.I also believe if Waggott had still been here and had some power we wouldn't have just been signing cheap gambles, more domestic experience would have been brought in. -

You said Preston would bully us over the pitch aswell Trying to predict how games will go in the championship is nigh on impossible Our recent form isn't bad considering the injury issues we have, our last 9 games 4 wins 3 draws and 2 defeats Seeing the squad at the start of the season I expected us to be in the bottom 3 most the season and eventually get relegated.I think we have done alright certainly recently not to be thinking we are going to get beat in every game. Ipswich and Wrexham were both decent performances, we probably would have gone on to beat Wednesday and Oxford was a deserved draw. -

Todd Cantwell - is he off?
islander200 replied to ruggles1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Nobody else wanted him when he left Rangers But there will be clubs looking to pay a transfer fee for him in January after missing months of the season.Cmon lads like he is injured -

Good performance after the first 20 mins or so Thought initially Montgomery struggled but grew into the game and it was a decent performance by him Best game So far by Morishita Hopefully we can start picking up a few wins at home Small looked a decent player for them -

Like I said why ain't Cantwell and his agent kicking up a fuss If he is being left out due to financial reasons? He was available for a modest fee from Rangers yet he ended up here. I think he started the season well but last season he was average not enough goal involvements and I just see a queue of clubs would be in for him, when they would have to pay us a fee and take on his wages. Like I also Said I'm not totally ruling it out, but I think its more likely he actually is injured. -

How can you be positive about? Why didn't it happen when he was leaving Rangers? -

islander200 replied to ...'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm not saying it couldn't be the reason but seems unlikely in this instance to me. Why would Cantwell and his agent be keeping quiet about this? When he left Rangers there wasn't a queue of clubs waiting to sign him and that's why he ended up here. Last season was his form any better than when he was at Rangers? Not really imo .He started this season well but I still don't think he would have a massive amount of interest currently -
Line of duty series 7 confirmed Top show even though I was disappointed with how they ended it in what they said was the final ever episode

Why give him the captaincy in the first place if he was x amount of games away from hitting some target where his money goes up? Not playing isn't going to get Cantwell a transfer that he wants. He ended up here because there wasn't anyone else in for him and he didn't pull up any trees last season. He had started this season well and if he carried that form on then yeah an attractive move may open up for him -
He made 26 appearances in the prem at 21. 24 the following year. A stretch to call him a regular then and he was often playing further forward than cm. My opinion Wharton better at 21 than scholes was
-
Wharton is a better player at 21 than Scholes was at 21 Time will tell if he will develop into a player as good or better than Scholes later in his career
-
-
Nixon saying on his bluesky account that Wharton has to make 5 competitive appearances for England before we are due anything from Palace

Jon Dahl Tomasson - no longer Sweden coach
islander200 replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They reinvest what they sell though I think I read over the last 2 seasons they have spent close to £50 million pounds...the players they have sold deserved and needed to move up a level and had been there a couple of seasons, not shoved out the door like happens here. I think it would be a good job for him ,yeah they are in the bottom 3 but on paper their squad shouldn't be. -

Strange line up if Carter Is fit enough for the bench then should start him and keep 3 at the back and replace Tronstad with Forshaw or Montgomery Hopefully he has got it right -
You mention it every time ...go back and it mentioned multiple times by you . At the time it was being said it was obvious to anyone that could see that Wharton was a world class talent...obviously not when he wasn't getting selected for any underage level nationally until he made his debut for us and it took a move to the prem for him to get under 21 recognition...I get things like big club bias as the reasoning behind that yet Ash Phillips was captaining his age group. And it was so obvious he was a world class talent to everyone , yet only crystal Palace paid the 18 million for him Iv said many times we shouldn't have sold him, said many times I think he was worth more than we sold him for but I 100% believe there was doubts about him at other clubs and he wasn't being rated as highly externally as he should have been.
