ROVERS V COVENTRY 27/2/2021
Stuart replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He’s just a walking cliché at this point. As long as he keeps speaking footballese nobody will notice anything wrong. Our game was summed up in the final 30 seconds when we had the ball, it was kitchen sink time and Nyambe and Dack just walked it up the right flank waiting for the final whistle. The draw was more important than risking all for the win. -

You may get stick for some of your flip-flopping opinions but nobody can touch you when it comes to details. -

Tbf, any talk of L1 success is no longer valid when rating Mowbray anyway. All that matters is these last 32 games. And apart from some early promise (against 10 men teams) they’ve been mostly shit. -

Funny isn’t it. In the past, back in the days of sanity, it would be in that order. If the manager wasn’t potted, or it was clear their hands were tied, fans went after the board. If the board were resolute the owners were under fire. If it ever got to that point, change happened. What happens when the first two happen and the owners don’t act and don’t speak? Apathy from the majority and arguments between the rest. Both of which are hugely damaging for the club. We seem to have reached a point where either Mowbray walks or the fans will. -

Tony will see that as a great success. Avoided the six defeat record. Now if we can just find a way to get one of the opposition players sent off early in each match we might have chance. Against XI we really struggle. Awful awful stuff but nothing is going to change while Mowbray is here. “We Go Again” 💪🏻 -

Interesting perspective. So much so I’ve just checked. Played 8 times this season: 1 win, 1 draw, 6 losses. When we beat Coventry 4-0 earlier this season he was an unused sub. That result was sandwiched in the middle of four defeats. Corry played in all four... -

I’m with you SG. I can’t see us losing a sixth in a row - it’s unthinkable. My concern is that the way we set up and play, and the current mindset is that it is going to be an uphill struggle. We are going to have to be really on it and we need people putting their bodies on the line to keep a clean sheet. Are they up for that - especially for a manager who isn’t even concerned about results? Here’s hoping Coventry are not at the races. -
You really need to take a look on Facebook. (Actually scratch that, you don’t - I’d rather put up with you telling me I’m wrong - QED, btw - than subject you to that!)
-
Disagree. Those who believe Mowbray should go focus on exactly that, with a sense of increasing frustration with every passing defeat. Those who believe he should stay focus their ire on other fans, with an increasing amount of vitriol. ”If you don’t agree you’re not a real fan” This has been the way of it since The Kean Problem - which is what happens when at any other club the manager is removed and replaced. Here, partly because of how hands-off Venkys are, these managers stay far longer creating a toxic fanbase. It happened with Kean then with Bowyer, and it’s happening again now.
-
It does seem that way. In reality fans don’t support Mowbray. They support anyone wearing the badge. “Til they die”. As soon as they leave the spell is broken. It would be quite noble if they weren’t so vicious towards fans who actually see the writing on the wall. It has probably got worse against a backdrop of Twitter and virtue signalling tbf.
-
Is this satire? Or are you really offended by jokes about lemon drizzle cake (which are a poke at Mowbray and not his wife)?
-
The very definition of creating an argument in an empty stadium. They (but mainly he) have had it very very easy indeed thanks to lockdown. “We’ve reach Bowyer’s stop. Please alight here or remain on board for Kean Central...”
-
They don’t need to sell land and downsize to invest in the infrastructure and set us up for the next 20 years. They could do this themselves very easily. You seem incapable of seeing this point. If your billionaire uncle offered to buy you a modern high-end electric car you’d be quite pleased but maybe begin to wonder ‘what’s the catch?’. Then when he told you that you he was going to trade in your prized classic one-of-a-kind Rolls Royce (your only inheritance) and he will use that money to do so, I think you’d feel a little cheated. Especially when he is telling you that you only need a two-seater, even though you’ll have nowhere to put the kids. At the end of the day, of course, this is now the Rao’s land. They can do what they wish with it, subject to laws and regulations. But fans have an emotional stake in it and the Raos need to recognise this. When we only find out about it because the news is leaked then, even ignoring history, it leaves a bitter taste and any trust is gone. Then consider that they have the power to hugely change our situation but they won’t even change the manager.
-
It’s a great point but that’s probably only half of the question. The other half is, do our owners wage expectations match his?

My worry is that they know he’s going nowhere. There is no plan (on or off the field - unless you count a land sale) and they will be made scapegoats. No wonder the treatment room is filling up. This apathy might even relegate us. We are in freefall. After tomorrow’s game we could only be two points ahead of Coventry who are currently in 20th place. How anyone can still defend him is beyond belief. If we go down, it will be because of Tony Mowbray. And I fear that we won’t recover. We are literally on the precipice. -
Yet another “interesting” reply. I don’t believe for one minute we are a stable club. I believe that stability is a complete veneer and made up as a defence for mediocrity. A platitude akin to “at least it’s not Kean”. Sadly some fans have deluded themselves into believing that anyone at the club has anything but their own interests at heart. I have to believe that you are not a local fan and are somewhat removed from the reality of watching your home town club be ripped apart by absolute charlatans. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are actually a Rovers fan - if a deluded one.
-
Absolutely right Rev. The alarm bells were ringing when we heard that Waggott had allegedly said Mowbray is here until he decides to leave. A CEO should not be personal friends with any manager. They have to be able to be objective. Football isn’t like a normal industry. Short term contracts are the norm, and players and managers come and go very quickly. They have to be able and prepared to have that conversation.

I read that name and assumed not. He definitely does not “represent” the majority views of this board. -
Life goals! To be so rich that you can stop caring and dare your employers to sack you - knowing you get compo - all the while picking up a huge payslip. Thankfully we are only 31 games into this journey [to be as good as Brentford] and four years is just a number and with no memorable moments or highlights (something we probably agree on tbf). While Venkys are busy downgrading the physical legacy, Mowbray is busy downgrading the emotional one. Any prestige we had has been replaced with being a recently promoted League One side who are punching above their weight whenever we get into the top half - forget top flight! Maybe he still thinks he is at Coventry - hope he goes into the right dressing room on Saturday! Ladies and gentlemen - the man of integrity... Over to you Venkys.

No wonder they do what they like when they think BRFCS is represented on the FF! Some observations though: Whomever is claiming to represent BRFCS is being rather disingenuous. Maybe people are just talking about someone who is always moaning and they just assumed. 🙂 The views shared by this individual are clearly not ‘representative’ of BRFCS, which is one of the more critical and challenging subsections (someone needs to be) A fans forum member who has posted on here in the past said they do not represent the fans but represent themselves (a very odd take on what is both a privilege and a responsibility - “I’m just here for a nosey”) 🤥 -
Interesting perspective. ”I get the negativity but” ”Open minded about the proposal” [in which people who are already billionaires make more money - purpose unknown] “Mr Walker” 🤔 If this is really about modernising Rovers then I will be hugely surprised. So far the downsizing proposals don’t appear to accommodate local planning issues, let alone ensuring Cat 1 status. The appear to be about freeing up valuable land. What in particular about the proposals, and the way it was announced, gives you cause to be optimistic about this?

Just in case that fence gives you any trouble... There would be something very poetic of a defeat to Coventry resulted in him walking away. However, I suspect like one half of Mercer, that it will come down to his severance package.
