  1. I'm guessing maybe a fair proportion of those 2000 are London-based Rovers supporters? Hats off to anyone who travels down for a game that really is totally over-shadowed by the coming fixture at t'Turd. Great effort as you say.
  2. I guess what I'm trying to say is that most of us believe he should have had more chances and think he still has something to offer. But the boss doesn't and there's nothing we can do about it.
  3. I don't remember people thinking we were going to be relegated? We only signed 2 first team players but we took the League by storm---top in early weeks. Admittedly one was Shearer! Imagine how many signings we'd need if we were promoted now!
  4. Its a pointless discussion this one if JDT doesn't rate him, as seems to be the case. I don't understand why he and his partner have any affiliation with the NW though, I'd assume they would settle darn sarf.
  5. I would have given him more chances but I'm not the coach. JDT doesn't fancy him for one reason or another and we have to live with that. Surely he'll have Uncle Tony to put an arm round him in January and we'll get some cash. Probably not much but his wages will help.
  6. Assuming Diaz isn't going of course. If he did Armstrong could replace him. Different type of player I know but Diaz is a real one-off anyway.
  7. Fair enough. Its a results game though---you agree? That game against Spurs at Ewood when we didn't play all day and won 2-1 in the last few minutes with 2 Neanderthal goals from Samba remains one of my most joyful memories!! I laugh just thinking about it.
  8. It would be a nightmare if we lost players to injury on the eve of the big derby so I'm guessing we'll play a second 11. Could be a really embarrassing scoreline though. 😢
  9. He'd sack half the team--we'd start with 6 men!
  10. 5 years would be a fair sentence though?
  11. Your distaste for Big Sam is well scripted but he would have kept us in the Premier League for years and we would eventually have had a team more attractive to watch---home and away. Did you criticise Souness so much when he was on the point of taking us down? We had nothing going for us then. Anyway, as has been pointed out, both were running a Premier League team, a far different situation. Back to JDT----we are way better higher in the League than I expected us to be and clearly the manager has talent and should be given time to develop his team. That doesn't and shouldn't prevent criticism of some pretty obvious defects. We were at home, we are 2nd in the League, we were playing the bottom club, not the top one! Pulling up the drawbridge and settling for 1-0 so early seems inappropriate and potentially very risky. It worked this time, we can't rely on it.
  12. Its good to win but if we continue this way we're going to lose a lot of points late-on I suspect.
  13. In a balanced midfield 3, and not at right-back, Travis is fine. He'll never do any good at right-back anymore than Gallacher will on the wing. he hasn't had a good season but the selections haven't helped him. I'd not be writing Travis off at this point till he proved a failure in his natural position.
  14. I agree but with one caveat. JDT is making some bad decisions especially when we are playing away. As someone above said, we need some stability both in terms of selection and positioning. I'm hoping he grows with the team as the season goes on and that he strengthens the squad in January
  15. Whoops I knew I should have checked that! Somehow I had it in my head that we were on 32 points! A reasonable joke ruined!
  16. I didn't notice the thread was quiet at the weekend. Are you expecting fans not to be happy when we lose in this way and not come on here and vent frustration? Would any other fans be the same or Blackburn Rovers fans exceptionalists in this matter?
  17. Over the moon one day, down in the dumps the next---that's following Rovers in a nutshell. But what gets me most is not losing but the manner of it. Games against teams below us and we simply don't turn up. Its not like were unlucky in a nail-biting 1-0 loss. Precious points there for the taking from a team way below us and in all sorts of trouble and we can't cash in on it. Doing way better than I thought we would but you wouldn't put your house on us finishing even top 6 would you?
  18. I think its impossible to be right or wrong at this point. We'll only know when it happens. Just to elaborate, nearly a year ago I was adamant that we should not sell Rothwell to Bournemouth because it would undermine our promotion campaign! Then came that run of 17 games without a win and my reasoning became utterly redundant! Similarly, I thought we could be in the deep stuff this season after losing 3 regulars for free. Yet we are not and arguably a more convincing promotion hope than a year ago. So, I continue to put forward my opinion but I don't feel as adamant about it as I used to. Humility has come late in life!!
  19. We have to be realistic. If someone like City, Utd etc offered him £100,000 a week and rising, he's off, like we all would. All we can hope for is that he plays well for us for the next 3/4 years and helps us to promotion and we then get a hefty transfer fee for him, hopefully to spend. The key to keeping him as long as possible is periodic revisits of the contract.
  20. Good grief, how would they feel if we played him?!
