I thought Thomas was ok yesterday but again it's our style that doesn't get the best out of him he puts good balls in but nobody gets near them. He did tail off badly but the first half became a nervy affair all round. Right changes at half time and we looked better but they also started attacking which opened it up a bit for us. Brereton i though played well when he came on. As for signing Thomas he's not someone i'd be paying good money or big wages for mainly because i just don't think he fits JDTs style. It's good having a proper winger in the squad though but no point if he isn't going to be used enough. -

We know all about 95th min goals but we are never the ones scoring them we're too busy with 5 at he back. -

That's the whole issue with Morton though isn't it. He isn't bad he's a neat footballer but he gives it away too much, wastes every set piece he takes and has the strength and battling qualities of a cardboard straw. -

I can see this top 6 race going to the wire or near as damn it so anything from this game is massive. The players though will be physically and mentally on the floor after the last week and this is the worst possible game to pop up now. They'll need all the support they can get but sadly the clowns running the show have ensured it'll just the the usual hardcore support scattered around the stadium. Maybe that will help though as at least those turning up should be under no illusions. Rovers 1 Crowd obsessed Small Time Hypocrites 1 15,778 -
Anybody who thinks it doesn't matter to the Burnley players needs to give their head a big wobble and go and rewatch the game at theirs. Listen to their manager and chairmans comments as well as one or two players including that big dolloper Barnes. They know, they've been on the beach recently but they'll be bang up for this we need to set about them and get a goal up. AND if we happen to be winning or drawing this with 10 mins to go LEAVE THE ###### TEAM ALONE, trust them to see it out.

Hedges should have smacked that but just like BBD the other night being offside it's at the other end of the pitch to the goal we are defending. Once again it should have been dealt with there were numerous opportunities for it to be. Once again we pay a price for trying to walk the ball in to the goal at championship level that is ridiculous. And for probably the 5th or 6th time this season the so called defensive subs and going to 5 at the back has contributed to us shooting ourselves in the foot. It's not funny anymore. -
Lancashire Rovers surely !

It's bound to be a source of amusement to supporters of clubs who find huge crowds easy to come by constantly seeing the attempted Burnley willy waving. Fans of bigger clubs tend to have real difficulty understanding the logic of demographics and geography. Burnley fans have difficultly understanding the term 'catchment areas' also but it was ever thus. Point is the real harcores of Rovers, Burnley, Preston has always been very very similar as is the upper limit to what we can all achieve given any success.
-
From my experience both sets of fans are obsessed with each other and always have been. Main difference has always been and still is the 6 fingered lots morbid hysteria over Rovers crowds and away followings completely in ignorance at some of their own down the years. As my Geordie supporting mate said listening to Burnley and Rovers argue over attendances is like two bald men fighting over a comb. They have an attitude of Leeds Utd fans but have more in common size wise with Barnsley.

Needs a stint in league 1 or 2 to get some regular games and match strength under his belt. -

I will be beyond bemused if this head coach doesn't try and set up to play to his teams real strengths again. -
I kind of wish he got in and ended up sat next to me....... then i could have educated him on Burnleys pre Prem days crowds. Mind you if it's as empty as it was near me the other night any interlopers will have no bother 😒

We are due a win and it's not beyond us to nick one at Preston then maybe a draw with that lot. -
Stumbled into a similar convo saying i can't believe they took him off the game swung when they did. Another comment - From what iv'e seen of Blackburn this season both games against us and beyond their issues seems to lie with their managers in game decisions. Hard to disagree.

From a distance up in the JW he did look to me like he was tiring badly and maybe would have cramped up. I don't think it was a forced sub at all though and as we know JDT is all too eager to throw the other lad on. Problem is they are such different players and A Wharton was at the heart of everything that was good last night so inevitably it backfired. Pity Garret wasn't on the bench he'd have been more suited to seeing it out last night. -

Right about the keeper although i don't recall Pears having much to do until the end. As others have mentioned though we are ridiculously shot shy we did get into some great positions but nobody pulled the trigger they stop and look for a pass or make the wrong pass. Trying to score perfect goals at the end of bouts of possession yet when we do score it tends to be the end of a good quick.move from back to front. The over cooking it in forward positions was the most frustrating thing and the source of numerous Coventry counter attacks but fortunately our winning the ball back was in the most part the best it's been for a while. -
Well if the Villarreal thing doesn't materialise it might be Stoke after all.

I actually enjoyed last nights performance all that was missing was a second goal but the way it ended has clouded everything again. -

There's barely a tackle in Thomas at the best of times and if you want to stretch the opposition and give them something to think about you don't throw a winger who can't tackle at right back. Of course there were options across the team it consists of 11 players not just the bench. The logical thing to do up top was move BBD into the more central position and Dolan wide. Then he was stretch them and close down in a way Brereton was struggling to do and JDT was on at him all second half...or as should have happened hooked the fooker off. You said it yourself we constantly invite pressure on and central to that has often been Tomassons use of subs and change of shape. Agree on Sammie and their goal it should have been cleared by someone or commanded by the keeper even if he had to deck theirs just get in the way of the guy. It's obvious when a keeper comes up he's just there to launch himself at the incoming ball. -

This is where the in game management nous comes in and i already explained my points there were other options to shore it up. It's not necessarily always who you put on but where you put them and what you tell them to do. -
Whilst agree with some of that he is playing in the same positions Mowbray played him and he always has, ask him and he'll tell you that's his position. It's also where he has scored most of his goals from. He should have been hooked last night but seeing as he was having such a mare on the left the sensible thing would have been to move him more central after having to lose Gallagher. Is he though definitely trying not to get injured or pull anything and that means he is a liability.

But... Putting on a winger at full back, installing traffic cone Morton who only has instincts to stand on the edge of his own box and putting a 5 ft player in place of a 6'4" one, asking him to do the same job, are collectively all counterproductive to whatever he was yelling i'm afraid. -

As a coach i'd expect him to be on the pitch for 20 mins pre match like other teams coaches seem to be. He appears to do less than Venus and that's saying something.
