  1. They seem to have trawled around everywhere else wasting peoples time not being serious about anyone. Now the C list present Scandanvian options who are likely to accept less wages and have less expectations than most of the others. Especially the ones out of work or maybe not tied in with big compen packages. 'The flex'
  2. Ayala is a class defender at this level but i'd say it'll be near impossible to get 10 straight starts out of him. Given age and wages as well if there is an opportunity to let him go without having to pay him up it's probably best. However on the back of Lenihen going and no JPVH i'm really beginning to get concerned about this coming season. This new DoF and incoming whomever better have some solid defensive ideas and good contacts. Because they'll have nee brass.
  3. We absolutely presented them that first half they couldn't believe their luck being about to pass it out from the back so easily. Second half we just switched to something a bit more sensible and they'd no answer. I'm really not getting this sudden love in for Rooney on here but if push came to shove he's more experience than Ferguson.
  4. The one hope to cling to here is the DoF situation, nobody threw his name up as i recall and other names were being banded about by media knownowts. Then they pulled what appears a solid appointment out of left field so no surprise if that happens with the new head coach. Not that i'm expecting anything other than dismay but it might not be as bad as it's looking right now. Pray.
  5. Gary Bowyer did similar and i'm sure Pardew would have been quite capable of doing what Mowbray did. He would have seen a club like us as beneath him though and probably still does, thankfully.
  6. Pardew has more about him than Mowbray but like him he'll not do much different with no good budget. They won't appointment someone like that though just to sit in the middle of the division and produce players. They are looking for someone to do that first and foremost that is obvious. They'll want to pay the going rate for that and no more i think that's why they let Mowbray go. Somebody to do the same as him but cheaper is what they are after.
  7. If they are so important and so highly regarded then why not just bite the bullet and put Johnson in charge ? Or at least get in a short term mentor to help them slide into their new roles. Not that for one min that would be my choice but what's the point in faffing around trying to protect backroom staff and costing ourselves a decent manager.
  8. What does it say to any new manager, DoF or players when they are sold on the history, stature of the club then walk out to 8k in a 31k seat stadium ! I cannot believe they are stuffing this up so badly yet again not one lesson learned from last year.
  9. Because they've faffed around courting a few decent names without ever being really serious, same as they do with players. Then they've moved to the B list to see if anyone will work under their terms and been told to do one. So now we are where we usually are, the C list and it'll end up being who pushes who on them the hardest. Under the cheapest terms.
  10. Get Duncan on the phone, the number one choice in some areas, we did all we could to get an actual manager......
  11. It'll have been a factor that's why he was hanging on and still open to Rovers offer. Don't let the usual spin doctors tell you any different.
  12. ' I got 10 grand a week off the wage bill straight away '
  13. Some of our lot need help they really do, this guy whilst not being the best was an integral part of last season. He's an old school much and bullets defender who grew into his role and now some other club will probably benefit from his best years. Ayala is 30 odd and about as reliable as the weather and it's doubtful he's as committed as Lenihen was. For me this is a bigger blow than Mowbray or Rothwell going. He was a rare leader on and off the pitch not just a foghorn like Travis. To see him go to Boro for a few more quid is galling. Easy to replace seems to be the view though in some eyes, we'll see.
  14. Lenihen off to Boro, another great sign of progress there. Nyambe next then BBD, hopefully that ends the exits for now but i think whoever the manager is next season it'll be a tough one.
  15. Going to Wigan is an odd move surely that's just as tough a gig as in Blackburn.
  16. Untwist your knickers neither have you. However the THEORY of probability BASED on recent seasons is what i'm going off, pardon me if iv'e missed a pending FFP exemption or recent ten million pound sale.
  17. Mr & Mrs D Balaji Son Babu Advizors/agents Suhail Swag Cheston DoF Head coach Lets hope every decision doesn't have to work its way through that lot. Welcome to the Layer Cake son.
  18. For the fist few years he was here with transfer funds then yeah definitely or even the allowing of wage bill expansion (again) after the spending money stopped. I fear though it' going to be more like recent times with a few signings of 500k now and again and the continuing flow of loans. The real key is reinvesting a decent portion of the BBD money, expect the drive to sell him to hit full swing now.
  19. Think you are jumping the gun there i'm not sure there'll be a massive change with a 1 million annual spend and loans.
  20. Mowbray despite a few obvious flaws has left us in a position where a bit of investment, a decent managerial appointment and some smart recruitment means we can be challenging top 6 again. There's no need for a complete reset and start of a new journey yet i get the impression that's what they are looking for. All this ownership talk of becoming a Prem club again never ever gets backed up yet for once we were/are in a position it could be. The last 5 years should have been another lesson to them so lets hope they heed it, you will NEVER gain promotion on shirt buttons and puppet managers.
  21. Well Venus was doing some of the roles, Waggot others if rumours of him basing himself at the STC are true. Then we had Mowbray more of a club manager rather than 1st team manager and of course a head or recruitment. This guy seems to have experience in plenty areas so he'll presumably dispense with the need for manager and assistant manager running the whole inside of the club. And the CEO getting involved in recruitment beyond just agreeing wages and stuff, if that's what he does. Then there's the academy and it's managers, directors etc. So it's a big job and presumably he'll be there to knit all that lot together so maybe no need for a head of recruitment now or assistant manager. Waggot will probably go back to his 2 or 3 day week and whoever becomes in charge of the 1st team can concentrate on just that. I hope it works.
  22. Decent appointment this seems to be all things considered. I was expecting worse to be honest like another Paul Senior but i reckon this guy could be a good fit. As long as he is allowed to do what he's here to do.
  23. Tennis balls flew at Kean but in ten years no mention of a corkie i'm sure the press and police would have been all over that. There's a bit of a Dominic Cummings scenario to this, Orr was clearly told to speak up for Kean. He got a great opportunity at Rovers and ended up with a new deal on the back of nothing but opening his mouth. I'm sure plenty dots join in terms of his transfer here but now his word is gospel ? Come on... What it does highlight again though is the chaos behind the scenes and how Kean was as useless as we thought. He hasn't really told us anything we didn't already know about Shebby. Not sure what anyone expected though the fella was asked to come in and try and sort things out. The fact he didn't have a clue either was hardly his fault but he did start the ball rolling to get rid of Kean and Andersons mob. Otherwise we'd still be paying their dollopers 30k pwk whilst rooted near the bottom of the league every season.
