  1. They only bought Duffy in as a quick turnaround to give games to then sell again. Whilst i know we need to be a trading club in certain ways the whole philosophy was wrong for years with a look to polish and turn around for a quick buck mentality. Agents running the show though then and afterwards we end up with a former solid top league center half with an aversion to finding similar to himself managing the show. That's why we are heading back to square one again defense wise.
  2. What we need is the next Eddie Howe like he did at Bournemouth. If Johnson had stayed boss of the U23s or been given a role as no 2 or 3 on the touchline for a few years then maybe he'd have been the man. It was an odd move that for numerous reasons given his stock was so high at the time. He must like the role he does now though to have stuck at it and taken it in the first place.
  3. And our lot knew this but were happy to play along by letting local journos assume we are all but offering them the job.
  4. Who is telling the journo this ? Or is it just assumption based on hearsay ? As usual never any meat on the bones because they are probably getting their information from Nixon. Why aren't they hunting down someone from the club or ownership and asking them direct.
  5. That's the absolute crux of the matter - No Accountability It suits so many down there to just pass the buck or shrug their shoulders and that will never change under this model. Everyone just assumes it's the owners fault, mostly it is but those employed willingly hide behind it. The local media are an absolute joke also as they hold power to try and bring people to account but they never do. They just say oh we've asked and they've not got back to us then they shrug their shoulders. And everyone assumes again it's the owners fault but never call them out either.
  6. Top managers don't fit the club though apparently so no point the owners paying for one.
  7. Billionaires who chuck 15/20 million away per season but simply refuse to hire a top quality manager and his staff. There are no words to describe the thought processes of these people.
  8. Doubt he'll be doubling his wages but he'll probably have a nice signing on fee. Second point i agree nobody is bigger than the club but the timing and nature of some departures can be damaging and doesn't reflect well. Hell some over 60s still harp on about Derek bloody Dougan. My original point still stands those rumours came out a good while ago before interest in the players became public. There's nothing to move on from we know the previous regime had shithouses in it once they knew their time was up.
  9. Hes been asking for an interview with Waggot for months about Mowbrays position and season tickets ! So i wouldn't be expecting much from him in regards to this. The club seem to dictate the LTs narrative these days without any fear of being called out on anything.
  10. Funny how these two who were allegedly advised to get more money elsewhere look set to sign for 2 of Mowbray and Venus ex clubs.
  11. They seem to have trawled around everywhere else wasting peoples time not being serious about anyone. Now the C list present Scandanvian options who are likely to accept less wages and have less expectations than most of the others. Especially the ones out of work or maybe not tied in with big compen packages. 'The flex'
  12. Ayala is a class defender at this level but i'd say it'll be near impossible to get 10 straight starts out of him. Given age and wages as well if there is an opportunity to let him go without having to pay him up it's probably best. However on the back of Lenihen going and no JPVH i'm really beginning to get concerned about this coming season. This new DoF and incoming whomever better have some solid defensive ideas and good contacts. Because they'll have nee brass.
  13. We absolutely presented them that first half they couldn't believe their luck being about to pass it out from the back so easily. Second half we just switched to something a bit more sensible and they'd no answer. I'm really not getting this sudden love in for Rooney on here but if push came to shove he's more experience than Ferguson.
  14. The one hope to cling to here is the DoF situation, nobody threw his name up as i recall and other names were being banded about by media knownowts. Then they pulled what appears a solid appointment out of left field so no surprise if that happens with the new head coach. Not that i'm expecting anything other than dismay but it might not be as bad as it's looking right now. Pray.
  15. Gary Bowyer did similar and i'm sure Pardew would have been quite capable of doing what Mowbray did. He would have seen a club like us as beneath him though and probably still does, thankfully.
  16. Pardew has more about him than Mowbray but like him he'll not do much different with no good budget. They won't appointment someone like that though just to sit in the middle of the division and produce players. They are looking for someone to do that first and foremost that is obvious. They'll want to pay the going rate for that and no more i think that's why they let Mowbray go. Somebody to do the same as him but cheaper is what they are after.
  17. If they are so important and so highly regarded then why not just bite the bullet and put Johnson in charge ? Or at least get in a short term mentor to help them slide into their new roles. Not that for one min that would be my choice but what's the point in faffing around trying to protect backroom staff and costing ourselves a decent manager.
  18. What does it say to any new manager, DoF or players when they are sold on the history, stature of the club then walk out to 8k in a 31k seat stadium ! I cannot believe they are stuffing this up so badly yet again not one lesson learned from last year.
  19. Because they've faffed around courting a few decent names without ever being really serious, same as they do with players. Then they've moved to the B list to see if anyone will work under their terms and been told to do one. So now we are where we usually are, the C list and it'll end up being who pushes who on them the hardest. Under the cheapest terms.
  20. Get Duncan on the phone, the number one choice in some areas, we did all we could to get an actual manager......
  21. It'll have been a factor that's why he was hanging on and still open to Rovers offer. Don't let the usual spin doctors tell you any different.
  22. ' I got 10 grand a week off the wage bill straight away '
  23. Some of our lot need help they really do, this guy whilst not being the best was an integral part of last season. He's an old school much and bullets defender who grew into his role and now some other club will probably benefit from his best years. Ayala is 30 odd and about as reliable as the weather and it's doubtful he's as committed as Lenihen was. For me this is a bigger blow than Mowbray or Rothwell going. He was a rare leader on and off the pitch not just a foghorn like Travis. To see him go to Boro for a few more quid is galling. Easy to replace seems to be the view though in some eyes, we'll see.
  24. Lenihen off to Boro, another great sign of progress there. Nyambe next then BBD, hopefully that ends the exits for now but i think whoever the manager is next season it'll be a tough one.
