He was here over 5 years he was the previous manager there are going to be frequent comparisons on both sides of the fence. The rest i totally agree with but we do have a good home record results wise and if we win tonight yet are still a bit shit i won't care too much. If you want promotion it's all about results, not too long ago we were dominating possession every game, creating numerous chances yet losing by the odd goal and finishing 15th. Winning crap football for me any day over that nonsense. -

Then grow a pair and let the Burnley defeat go for now as the one consolation is we get another go at them this season. The Burnley defeat has naff to do with playing Boro tonight. -

One of the most insipid home games iv'e ever seen v that lot came in the cup under Mowbray so let's not pretend it would have been guaranteed any different. Bowyers teams put up a better effort. -

A plodder will always be a plodder some of us had that sussed 3 years ago, some it takes a while longer to figure out they're being played. -

And it has proved why because even someone as green as JDT can have us in the top 6 with a lightweight squad. It took Mowbray FIVE years to even trouble it for a few months so whatever happens this season the decision was proven correct. -

With Burnley yet to visit and a few others to fleece he'll be passing his 4 million target. Job done. -

The same kind of service Gallagher has needed here but rarely had, crosses into the box at Rovers appear to be banned unless it's a set piece. -

A front 3 of BBD, Dack and Gallagher should be one of the biggest handfuls in the division but instead of playing to its strengths we seem to have a system that isolates them of any service. -

I wouldn't call Markanday deadwood until we've had a decent look at him but if they can't find an upgrade on Hirst they ought to be offloaded themselves. -
The programme thing is complete and utter nonsense they just can't be arsed and have thrown the towel in first opportunity they got. They could get a small local firm to knock up 500 and they'd probably sell out every game, might have to charge a bit more but they'd become something of a novelty so there'd be enough demand off people willing to pay a bit more. Next to nothing in it for the club though so they can't be bothered and that is symptomatic of so much over the last decade it's a joke.

Sustainable model ? Well they never take on a big sponsorship ( we are told they've turned bids down before anyone says who will sponsor us). They even let go a large local company who sponsored a stand. Never sell players when they are peak for selling in favour of letting them run their contracts down or go for minimal fee. Won't make a concerted effort to increase attendances in speculate to accumulate fashion like a lot of local clubs have. Pay for an increasing team of executives and backroom staff and the expanding ladies set up. Yet always seem reluctant to really have a promotion tilt in favour of novice coaches etc. It's a set up that loses 15-20 mill per year and that seems sustainable to their empire almost like they don't need or want Prem income to cancel that out. -

Nobody wanted Carrick and most were ok with someone like JDT over him, the season is only halfway and if we beat Boro we are back on the win/lose/win wagon. -

Wrong thread but point stilll stands Fine lines in sunderland game the stupid penalty given away was when the real damage was done as at that point i really thought we'd grab another before half time. They were poor and looked there for the taking but that was their lifeline and their late subs showed intent to win the game. Contrast our subs which had no plan behind them at all seemingly other than get some off and others on for the sake of it, neither trying to win it nor see it out. Pre planned subs probably. Why not try something radical like taking off Gally and putting BBD in his position, Dack on the left and Markanday on the right. No upset to the formation but just trying something a bit different and giving the option off balls into the channels still whilst defending unexpected late pressure ? Is it beyond the bench full of coaches paid ten of thousands combined to come up with something other than pointless straight swaps ? Then again though our defence would actually have to be told to clear their lines into the space Sunderland where leaving on the wings wouldn't they. -

The one thing i constantly moaned about under Mowbray from right after league 1 promotion was the mindset he seemed to rub off on the players. Never once did it seem anything other than lets water tread and imo it was an issue why he often never got the best out of the squad as a whole or his resources. But seemingly there was never any pressure on him despite some good runs and some of the worst ever. When JDT and GB floated through the door, two younger more ambitious guys it did seem a refreshing change was a foot. Early season form backed that up and i commented on here the biggest change is the mentality and that was needed. Now FFS here we are again with him almost telling everyone oh we fully expect to blow it and it's ok because it isn't in the plan. Well what is then other than the ludicrous put value into players by playing shite unprogressive football then ? Is that it ? Is that why him and his pals are here just to draw a wage for as long as they can sell their 'project' ? What IS the project, what WAS the 'journey' ? We finished 8th after being top 6 most of the season so if the project isn't to better that this season or at least equal it we might as well not bother. -

JDT claims he isn't afraid of big calls and backed it up with dropping captain Travis but we didn't look any better for his absence. So now it's time to grow a pair and drop Morton and tell the DoF to deal with any moaning Liverpool might do or any contracted nonsense. Because this guy is a constant weak link game in game out and we certainly shouldn't need him on there just for set pieces. -

If a club came down and said we don't need the parachute money we have enough of our own so they gave it to Blackburn Rovers what do we think would change ? Would they suddenly change tack and say yes lets go for it for the next couple of years ? Would they say we are on a new journey and spew it on drones and back room staff ? Or would it just magically disappear into running costs whilst the owners still shove minus 20 million per season through the books ? The problem here isn't a lack of parachute money it's far deeper than that. -

I said that When Gary Bowyer was in charge. Since then we've had one finish of 8th place and that was almost by default, nobody inside or outside the club actually made it sound anything other than a bonus. Again i'll go back to the commentators yesterday being surprised by the lack of urgency displayed by both teams for about 85 mins of that game. Until Tony did what he often did here and threw all his cards on the table just for the sake of it. -
