  1. Depends who the opposition is and depends if you call 10/11k home fans a big crowd. I'd love to be proved wrong but the erosion of ST holders over the last few years is at critical level now and needs intervention.
  2. Correct, they aren't going to these lengths to try and gamble for promotion it's a complete overhaul. Everything will be based around low cost brought in youth and home grown players. The process of that already began last summer the people there had no choice but to go with it or just go. Mowbray mumbled on about it enough times whilst his CEO hid in the shadows taking no responsibility. This is the right way to go for Rovers now but it's no instant hit although you never know. A real opportunity was totally blown last season so it's start again now and hope to see something good in a few seasons. Not ideal but there's no money for big players and wages again yet.
  3. Someone has to do the bibs and cones and put players through their basic drills so it might as well be him. The new guys can concentrate on the team and one to one stuff whilst Benson can go back to concentrating on the keepers. No big deal really now we actually have a head coach and his assistant instead of a manager and guy covering multiple roles and trying to run the whole operation.
  4. That's the impression i got. He's gone into Rovers and thought were are the actual strikers ? Then instantly probably understood why we ended up where we did last season.
  5. I think we always come back to the last few years as the first few were necessary in resetting the club. Aside from the unexpected few months form last season his last few years were largely wasted by his own design. Yes funding had stopped which muddied the waters but looking back on it he still had a strong squad and access to good loans. So for me the biggest factor was the transition to possession with no real plan as to why. That wasted 2 seasons and would have continued imo had he not had the wage bill cut again. Once he'd spent that 5 mill on Gallagher and that kind of money stopped he full on geared everything up for midtable plods. He himself basically gave up on anything else in his own mind and it rubbed off on the whole club. I always said the mindset under TM was always wrong and i 100% stand by that. Until the last year or so i don't think there was anything untoward motivating his methods. He's just an old school stubborn manager whose methods revolve around keeping his squad happy and aiming for averageness with anything else a bonus.
  6. I wonder if the football side of it will almost completely bypass Waggot now ? Manager DoF Suhail Owners That kind of thing ? Maybe he can devote his time to sorting out pricing although the thought of him twiddling his thumbs isn't good. There'll be more cuts, price rises and building schemes being hatched.
  7. Yes that's why he was captain. The days of characters like Nelson and Samba have long gone sadly football doesn't churn out many like that now. For the most part in the last decade our defenders have looked like they are terrified of opening their mouths. Last season we had him, Van Hecke and Wharton all looking like they hated the opposition forwards. A real refreshing change.
  8. 9/10 th i'd say. It's clearly going to be a season of transition they haven't brought this new set up and manager in for a quick fix. Its the start of a new 3 year cycle and we have to live with that. For all his plaudits for the job he did overall Mowbray has left us in nothing more than a stable position, not one ready for promotion.
  9. People wailed about no leaders for years, we finally create one who ends up captain of the club. Then it's good riddance he's easily replaced. Like since when has that ever happened here ? And then they say the owners never learn.....
  10. So we are still looking at 9/10k home fans once they've announced likely equally as stupid match day prices. 9/10 k should be the ST number, it should be the starting point for crowds.
  11. I think he was the one who got those pics put up around the place in his earlier years. Might have been Bowyer but i'm sure i recal Mowbray saying he wanted the players to be aware of the clubs history and to aspire to it. Or something along those lines, just shows how his narrative changed to suit once he'd settled in for the plod.
  12. That's how 90% of the ITKs roll on here so you're in their club now, well no actually you're not because you got it right. You and unleaded stand alone as the elite. Just please don't start sitting down for cups of coffee with Waggot and turn into another of his message board lapdogs 😎
  13. It goes on until we have someone address it by applying the methods Huddersfield, Bradford and now Preston have. Speculate to accumulate instead of squeeze what you have until every last drip has run dry. Sadly the man who we assume is responsible for this is by his own admission in the latter camp not the former.
  14. They don't seem to want to pay any of the assets any more money now by the looks of it. Brereton was allegedly signed under the strap line 'flex' whereby high fee lower wages so he's probably entitled to ask for double his money now. That might take him in line with Gallagher, Dack and co but will he get that ? Unlikely where Waggot is concerned he'll only be interested in grabbing another big fee under his watch.
  15. According to an ex director of ours at the time Lambert was told he'd get the Rhodes money plus another big lump on top. He got Rhodes wages which were already budgeted for and nothing else. Hence him activating his release button. I doubt JDT has been made such bold promises but i suspect it might well all hinge on BBD. If he gets sold for big money and nothing is given back for reinvesting i can't see him being very pleased.
  16. Rovers should be poaching the staff from Accrington Stanley not Hull if they want to make the most of the local market. Like Waggot messing around in huge places like Coventry the things that might apply in cities the size of Hull don't work here. You don't need degrees in marketing and strategy to realize that you just how to do your own local research. And spend an hour walking/driving around the town.
  17. They'll just shrug their shoulders and say well if we start playing well more will come and paying more for POD boosts the income. Now just look how hard it was last season to significantly increase attendance despite playing well for a while. It still took a lot of messing with match day prices to up the turnouts on a lot of occasions.
  18. Ah Blackpool that big club with a budget to get to the Prem and less than 2 hrs from Saltburn.... Full of shit as ever Mr Mowbray.
  19. Where has ANYONE said they want to go and watch Preston Wigan or Bolton instead ? A few have said however they are feeling priced out of watching their team which is the whole point of the 'moaning'. Your kind of post says a lot about your own attitude and i suspect some inside the club i.e if you want to come then come otherwise bog off. Great thinking that is when you are surrounded by empty seats next season listening to 500 away fans yelling your support if effing shit. Maybe you should get a job in Rovers marketing dept.
  20. They transferred the training ground then sold Adam Armstrong so the books could balance.
  21. Excellent piece that he's always been good at putting stuff like that across so i hope he still has contacts who'll read it. Really it should be on the front page of the LT but that lot wouldn't even give it a column inch and upset their paymasters. Maybe they should put their readership first for a change and get the drum beating.
  22. The way it's being set up there'll only be young players brought in and similar to recently probably a ceiling of 500k initial fee. As of the last few years it's going to rest on how they work the loan market as to how competitive we are. Would have been the same had the previous manager remained and it's why there is no Carlos or similar, because there'll be no real budget. Think we have to get used to that and accept it i don't think he's here to launch an instant promotion drive on the back of 8th last season. He should be but it's not how these lot work here.
  23. Add in Luton being just about the only club in Bedfordshire in it's capital town then they should be able to find 10k willing to pay good money. Rovers are at such a disadvantage with that type of scenario so they should price accordingly (Williams knew this) and literally be kicking doors down across the whole area to drive up sales. Like Preston for example and we have a bigger name, profile and - going off half of last season - product.
  24. Mowbray and his clan left us with Gally on a new contract so he's tied to the club, perhaps the only one who'll now never be worth more than his fee. No point shoving him out the door for nothing it would cost a million to pay him up. He's still a handy player to have around imo he just isn't as we all know a winger or even wide forward. It'll be interesting to see if JDT and his staff start using some of these players putting their best attributes first. Or continue down the Mowbray route of treating everybody like a utility man and only sign back ups.
