  1. Presuming there'll be a budget in summer and he will need replacing anyway why not do the smart thing for once. Instead of worrying about a piddling few million we might get for him and significantly weakening the team for the rest of the season whilst we have a fantastic once in a decade chance of finishing in the top 6 ? Simply get this new DoF and crack team or recruiters to pull their fingers out and get someone in now with a view to sign perm in summer. Someone who will strengthen the squad and can be used with BBD and put a bit of pressure on him whilst easing his way in. This is what an ambitious organised club whose owners don't desperately need a cash injection would do. People need to think logically about this instead of as if the money was going into their own pockets. The clubs immediate future doesn't rest on the sale of BBD, we are ok at the min with FFP and the money would be a small fee in instalments that would just disappear into the void straight away. BUILD a side for a real go at it whilst we have a shot.
  2. Considering how long it took BBD to look anything like a footballer i'm not sure i'd be looking to do a similar deal ever again. Also he'd be off his marbles to go back there now if he finishes this season strongly.
  3. Which is where the parents come in, get up get out of bed and get to work. Perish the thought anybody might do that.
  4. Yes i can well believe that will be how it pans out which worries me greatly and not something i'd be doing. We've gone from Bell to Edun to Mola now and they all seem exactly the same in that position, not competent enough. It's as if they keep trying like for ;like players just hoping one clicks instead of getting in a proper operator in that position to duke it out with Pickering. Mola to me is every bit the defensive mid who'd probably end up a centre defender in time although whether he'd be up to it at this level remains to be seen. Middle is well stocked though and Garret will obviously be the fiesty one they turn to first but we'll never know if Mola might be better if he doesn't get the chance.
  5. Let's see Mola in his proper position he seems like a lively player we often need to be closing down quicker in midfield. He certainly isn't a LB or LWB that's obvious and i'm no fan of shoe horning players in anywhere just to see how they cope. JRC is a good example though of how sometimes after a tough start they just click when they get a bit stronger and more used to it. I know he was awful against that lot but for me that one is on the head coach.
  6. We have a highly regarded recruitment guy now and an expanded backroom operation all working under a DoF. So lets hope they come up with something although identifying is the easy part getting them over the line isn't. They'll need some sort of room in the budget and wages otherwise Vs are paying people for bugger all again.
  7. If we had a hands on chairman or DoF or even half interested owners his arse wouldn't have touched the chair in the office after that. He'd have been booted straight down the corridor, mind you the time for that was the 0-7 v Fulham although that did in all intents and purposes give everyone the jolt needed to shape up for a few months.
  8. Yes, although we aren't second with points to spare and don't look as convincing as we did at times last season pre Jan we are the best placed we've been in a decade. New regime, unhappy sulking mob long gone, not much pressure because no one expects us to do anything except slide away. So hopefully this time they have a real go at it, some good fresh blood in the team instead of squad players and experiments could make all the difference. It would be nice to see a guy in charge of the team who actually wants to go for it regardless and doesn't look to hide behind the finances 24/7 !
  9. When will we see the money ? Because it certainly wouldn't be this window. There's no secret war chest at all just an outside chance that once every 5 or 6 yrs somebody can get some extra money for an investment signing.
  10. He's been a useful squad player and that is why he was here, we don't pay good championship players as back up.
  11. I think he might be angling for a move back down there so if this goes through i reckon that'll be him done at Rovers.
  12. I've always thought Edun is a handy squad player to have around although i don't like him starting at LB or LWB His best games have been midfield and cameo appearances and in typical modern Rovers fashion he's never really had chance in his best position. As mentioned he's got some decent youth pedigree and i'd expect him to shine if he drops back down a division. For those thinking it's good he goes i'm not sure there'll be an overwhelming replacement more like another young loanee or GB shoving another kid into the squad.
  13. It's simple really if we get at them on the front foot and try to dominate the middle we'll score first and probably win. If we sit back or allow them to press us high whilst losing the middle of the park they'll beat us by 2 or 3 goals. Mix up the football, press and counter and we're in with a 60/40 chance of winning, sit deep play about at the back at snails pace and invite them on the odds are 70/30 the other way. Rotherham 1 Rovers 2
  14. Only issue i have with Morton is the first name on the team sheet stuff because of the loan agreement probably. He's a good player with more potential but like other kids he's inconsistent, lightweight and a passenger at times. So he should be treated as such but he isn't he's guaranteed to start no matter how hes played previous. That's not on imo especially when we have our own champing at the bit in those positions.
  15. Couldn't think of anything more underwhelming than a cup tie against them or any game against them in fact. As Englands second city club they should be at least a tad glamorous but they are the most pointless club in Britain. Says it all when Rovers fans see Forest Green at home as a higher profile game than Birmingham City
  16. just shows how sometimes even at the best clubs a change, almost any change, is so badly needed. Ironically i think Sun'land have progressed in the FA cup for the first time in years.
  17. A mutal all round agreement that depended on Ipswich i'd say.
  18. He was thrown under the bus when we had a sticky patch that was 100% obvious by 'saint' Tony. When there was arse covering to do he was no different than any other manager. Real bollock dropped with this lad although admittedly he needed to iron stuff out of his game but he needed a good keeper to compete with. He was at the time training with Steele who was shit and a rookie keeper coach, no wonder he wanted out.
  19. That's the way it should be just like most other industry. A select few will probably end up in the higher echelons earning big money for nothing one day.
  20. Van Hecke will make it at Brighton i think, just needed a chance to show what he can do. Was never coming here whilst he was on the books of a Prem team unless they wanted rid. Not sure Rovers can be criticised too much in not getting him it was always a long shot. Although for a club who claims it wants to follow the Brentford model i'd have been testing them with a hefty bid it was obvious he's a star in the making. As for Khadra no thanks, let's see what Markanday can do. What we need is a proper striker - not a false nine or wide forward but an actual striker and some beef in midfield. We'll get neither my bet would be on another couple of young multi positional squaddies.
  21. The old saying 'where there's a will there's a way' doesn't apply down there it's just where there's a wage there's a suit.
  22. Listening to Waggot at the time you can only draw the conclusion again that they couldn't be bothered. Not millions to be made so can't be arsed really looking into it, nobody to franchise it to and get a lump sum down payment so can't be arsed.
  23. Both the travelling fans and the competition know exactly what to expect. Sadly traditions in the cups now have all but disappeared and that started two decades ago it isn't a new thing. Fans just have to get with it and accept it and when your league season is alive with potential top 6 then that comes first and should do in all eyes of clubs with such limited means. Footballers now need managing and wrapping in cotton wool at times, not saying i like it but that is the way it is. In days gone by we'd be taking 7/1000 to this at 10 quid a ticket. Fact there'll be less there than the league game which was live tv tea time kick off tells its own story.
  24. He was top drawer and tailored his game as he got older and slowed down. You could play off him almost as good as an Alan Shearer.
