  1. The summer will have to be very kind to us if he stays put it that way.
  2. I just reckon they are all assuming the budget will be similar to last season but there might be no transfer funds. So the room on the wage bill from departures will be used for new recruits in the form of loans & frees. A scenario we've seen plenty times before, a sale or two might just might put a bit more in the pot. Like i said i think they as well as us are just assuming this probably from the noises being made by the middleman. Of course no one will really know until they've had their summer meetings. Also i reckon the situation in India is playing a huge part in this as there's likely to be no travel out there again. Maybe the middleman has hightailed it back again whilst he's had the chance. So the assumption from everyone will just be carry on as normal unless you hear different. I reckon it's as simple as that, so in reality anything could happen but it really is unlikely anything will. Paralysis and pension funds not pushing on and play offs.
  3. Thinking that Mowbray will let Bennett, Downing, Holtby, Evans, Bell and Johnson all go is fanciful. I'd wager he'll be looking to keep at least half of those unless he's firmly been told he can't.
  4. Who's hoodwinked you into believing that one ? Why would anyone in their right minds let a departing manager under a bit of a cloud start deciding who he wants to keep ? Only way i see that being the case is if they are just rearranging the chairs. He steps aside but stays on in some capacity and Venus and/or Johno stand in the line of fire. It'll be cooked up by him & Swaggo as well not the owners. Just watch and see.
  5. You're forgetting the club urgently needed 10 mill to pay Barclays and stave off admin. That was probably the best option knowing what we know now but Big Chris was shunted to Russia by a super agent. Outside the domestic window but just in time to settle the debt. I'm not sure he had a whole host of options by that point.
  6. How does Assombalonga fit Mowbrays systems anyway ? He won't even play the big forward he paid 5 million for up top unless he's desperate for bods. Just for that alone i wouldn't be surprised if they do something stupid and throw the potential Armstrong money at him. Some nice skimming to be done there no doubt.
  7. Yes they'll get their whopping salaries regardless then the low gates will be blamed soley on covid. When the crowd start to tell the manager what they really think it'll be blamed for poor performances. Perfect storm for these chancers but then again Ewood always will be under this ownership.
  8. Be careful he could be next seasons Wes Brown if the summer plays out like that one did.
  9. At least Pallister is someone he played with not just a name plucked out of thin air like the original viper tongued one. Mind you if Gary was still at Boro he'd be here next season on a 3 yr 20k a week deal set up by HSH. Defenders are coming...via Teeside....
  10. Their plan is 'we pay the bills we do what we want' that's been their attitude all along. As well as expecting everybody to be grateful obviously, they've created a situation that the entire clubs existence relies on their annual tens of millions injection. It's like the badly beaten, abused partner who can't leave because quite simply they'll end up on the streets. Iv'e always said i reckon they'd still do that even if their was no fans at all left. Pandemic has kind of proved that they are certainly capable of doing so. It just doesn't bother them in their own little haven thousands of miles away. If they ignore the club for 3 or 4 months whilst they do other things so what ? It'll still be there because they are paying for it. I assume it's a bit like owning a flash vintage car, you'll take if for a spin once in a while. Maybe even enter it into a motorshow or rally then preen over it if it does well. Then back into the garage whilst you go back to your daily car. You'll always pay for it to be cleaned and serviced though so it's there when you feel like using it. Those tasked with looking after it now are just taking advantage of the situation and seem to have license to drive the car round town themselves. As long as they don't prang it into a league 1 fence or get pulled by the fuzz a blind eye will be turned. Boys will be boys.
  11. He has to rebuild what he's already been building ? That just shows what a clusterfook they've actually made of it yet he gets the green light to go again. These thick hoorahs deserve to end up bust themselves they really do. Trouble is they've invested too much again in a pair of planks. 'Investment signings' - Wages for experience, Fancy young loanees, Drones, pilots, ipads, pass counting staff, tv moniters and staff to sit and watch players. All for what exactly ? mid table then a near relegation scrap whilst the pitch and stadium rots before their eyes. And the answer is selling half the training ground ! Talk about paralysis.
  12. It's very dangerous letting a manager who knows he's on borrowed time, or is leaving when his contract is up, loose in a summer transfer window. No telling what damage he might do whilst looking after people and serving other agendas. Typical of this lot though can't even see this is the perfect opportunity for real change. Besides the first sales pitch to Venkys for this will be 'i need a new contract to convince others to stay'. I doubt one of them outside of the likes of Bennett & Evans really gives a toss if he stays or not. If they've any ambition they certainly shouldn't but if they like their comfort zone i suppose it might appeal. We've had Mowbrays hamster wheel going round in circles for the past 3 seasons. Now it seems the Venky cycle is set to come around again. The peak of those cycles being a couple of seasons championship stability before the inevitable flip backwards and slide away. Great, get your tickets bought for the Moggadon relegation show. Possession is 9/10ths of the law, results are just a sideshow.
  13. Grellayala ... ? To be fair to Vince on the 3 occasions he was actually well enough to play throughout his contract he put a shift in. This guy though looked like he'd rather have been somewhere warm.
  14. They don't seem to realize they aren't though they are just supporting a manager. A paid employee who's making a mess of his job which is, by normal clubs standards, to get results. I doubt many of them have been around football more than a decade.
  15. Unbelievable but slightly suspicious i'm assuming that guy is Irish judging by the name. Funnily enough iv'e had about 3 different Irish guys on twitter in the past month or so coming out with the same stuff. Engage them in a real debate and they can't offer anything other than what he said there and the nice guy stuff. There's some serious fake PR afoot on his behalf, a sure sign they are trying damage limitation. Probably stems from his agents if i had to bet on it. What is undeniable now is the majority of fans who post on various platforms think he's completely lost it.
  16. With half a season to turn it round ? Never, they are deluded and they just love people who feed that by the spade load. Him, them and a loony lump of our fans would still be talking play offs once he turns the 0-1's into 1-0's.
  17. I was convinced of that when GB was here never mind Mowbray, who has taken it to a new level, then doubled it. Quite ridiculous at times and the only conclusion is there must be a lot of appearance weighted contracts at Rovers these days. Add in appearances trigger certain clauses, bonuses and contract extensions as well. Not hard to suspect it's all part of this humanitarians keep em all happy and onside policy. He pretty much did what i predicted last night throwing back in his old favs. Who nearly to a man repaid him with stinkers. Any manager worth his salt who constantly spins about journeys, building and young teams, would be putting the blocks in place for next season right now. Get his players out there in the starting 11 and get drilling the system into them. Great opportunity for that for every game post Derby till end of season. Not this guy though got to look after his favourites in a shop window or get enough appearances in job. Bennett should be nowhere near it now, Evans should always be 2nd choice. It just adds fuel to the fire of the complete verbal crap he spouts.
  18. I wouldn't bet on it i think they've just lost interest again and heads have gone firmly back in the sand. That seems to be the pattern with them so summer brings either as you were or they leave it to the finance men and we have a fire sale and another impending relegation. The review, restructure and genuine attempt to move forwards, since the last one, we all crave and the club badly needs remains a very long shot imo.
  19. I think we could go back 18 months and he was similar then, looking forlorn, knackered, confused. Talking about being away from his family (1.5 hrs away), how he didn't like letting players down when they trained hard all week, how it would be nice to have a two week break etc. All that was mid season when we were struggling again. The guy is done at this level, i think he pretty much made his mind up back then he was just going to plod on without much of a toss and whatever will be will be. Despite some bold words as usual in summer pretty much everything since then has backed up that theory. To be fair it's been a right old slog for everybody with the pandemic but they still had plenty down time. However all the signs were there a few years ago with this fella he's just settled into a plod. Then when his tree was shaken a while back he didn't like it, now he's between a rock and a hard place but the solution is simple.
  20. He's an arsehole that's what he is, a very very lucky one, to have such idiots filling his bank account every month. Whilst he sits there insulting fans intelligence and dragging moral into the dirt before next season. No other club would put up with this, none.
  21. If the development stuff was genuinely true he'd play all our own players from now. He won't though he'll look after the loan boys and give games to the ones he's helping find another club when their contracts here finish. Everything he says and everything he does are at opposite ends of the sales job he keeps pushing. Just get our kids out there and the ones we expect to be here next season. No need nor sense for anything else, that fits the development theme, it'll be shown to be bull again though. Mowbrays benevolent camp he's running here looking after everybody with someone elses money. Doesn't matter where we finish and he says he doesn't look at the table and is only bothered about individuals. Well prove it then in the last games otherwise you are proving your words as fraudulent.
  22. Basically the owners have been underwriting the bills whilst still finding enough room to give this manager and his cronies some competitive wages and funds for transfers. Now though with promotion still nowhere in sight it needs a big cash injection from somewhere above and beyond the millions put in just to get by. This is where Waggot and co have spotted their chance to cook up the training ground scheme. We also need a management set up that maximizes what we do have compared to some others. Not one that cries about what we don't have continually and keeps implying he can deliver but only if he gets this/that/the gate post and the other, only to find something else to then blame his floundering on.
  23. Not listened to the interview but by the sounds of it he went off on another humanitarian waffle when asked about the proposed Super League. Some of what he was saying was probably correct but there's a time and place to start going on about the pandemic again and peoples lives. To me that just sums him up he puts a sob story spin on everything from a football pitch to a simple question not club related. It really is no wonder he has the owners ear he's a walking sermon these days. It's also no wonder he's no ruthlessness in his body or a winning mentality to drill into his players. A career with a white dog collar on awaits him, he'd be good at that. Instead of being intent on dumbing down the club to make it easier for him and everybody to manage, he really really should hand over the reigns to someone who has a decent amount of drive and ambition for a little bit more.
  24. He needs an Indian foot up his own arse, about once a week next season if he's still here. The most complacent manager in our history.
