  1. Good game but we really need to start picking up a few points soon. Man Utd imo were superb and could have won 3-1. Sure they have top players on and off the pitch whereas our squad is now looking threadbare BUT their work ethic is the big difference and really is truly remarkable. Time after time they had 3-4 options when in possession whereas we often didn't have anybody moving into space and looking for the ball. The result was as usual lots of unproductive long balls. The match vid should be a great lesson for some of our players. I can forgive lack of talent but I can never forgive lack of effort. It costs nowt. btw MoTD seemed to concentrate on Rooney for some reason but imo we would have got a real pasting if we had swopped Tugay for Carrick before the start! What a player that little bugger is. A move for him really could win em the title.
  2. Looks like I've been wrong about our IndoPak population all along. All the hard work put in by JW and the commercial dept in attracting em as new and valued BRFC supporters must be coming to fruition. For weeks nothing appears to have had an affect but yesterday v Man Utd there were loads of happy smiling brown faces apparent in the Riverside, shed loads in fact. They must have enjoyed the experience too cos their smiles got wider as the game went on. Be interesting to see if they enjoyed the experience so much that they will come again............... before the next visit of MU that is!
  3. Who cares? He hasn't got a tackle in him either and anyway do we not have enough midfielders on the treatment table already?
  4. The solution is easy. Just leave stuff as it is but due to declining attendances shut the now pointless Riverside stand and put up a crowd frieze like the Arse did when the North Bank was rebuilt*. * btw What a waste of money that was trying to keep up with the Walkers.... A few short years later and the new facilities got the ball and chain treatment.
  5. Delay at the East Midlands airport was there Philip? Anyway whilst we are hampered by relativley long term injuries to some of our 'big' players, we really need to adopt a 4-5-1 system and rekindle the 'dogs of war' attitude on our travels imo. Grind results out now cos it gets harder to do so as the season goes on. Start with a point and bloody well keep it otherwise the current freefall will continue and a nervous season is in front of us. Midfield is our obvious weakness with Reid, Emo and Sav struggling with injuries and Tugay, Ped and Bentley with not a tackle between them. We need to pack it with bodies.
  6. After Benni our other strikers seem to be much of a muchness. Good but not brilliant / adequate without being scintillating. I still cannot decide in which order I place them in. I suspect time will reveal Nonda to be last in the line due to his lack of pace.
  7. Less than half empty rtm. 13000+ out af a stadium the holds nearly 31000 for one of the most prestigious games in BRFC history.
  8. The first part of that sentence may indeed be applicable now but the latter part is in the first instance absolute rubbish and in the second pure conjecture.
  9. That is definitely a relative statement Paul which only applies to you. Consider a bit of lateral thinking applied to that statement....... 1. You take your kids therefore it is not a £25 decision for you it's much more. 2. Also you have a family, so imagine the same income with far less outgoings and £25 means little. 3. You take a new job that pays much more than your current one. 4. You live and work in London. 5. Rovers v Spurs at Cardiff..... how much was that worth? 6. You support Man Utd, cant get tickets easily for OT and you get the chance to see em live for £25. 7. Last but certainly not least.......Returned from Krakow with the realisation that I could have bought next years ST for less money than my 3 day trip cost!
  10. Where do you get that daft 'out of the air' figure from ihb? Last night I paid £7.50! As most fans were ST holders (I guess) with a good sprinkling of OAP's and juniors on even less then the av ticket price was prob nearer to £8.00. That means gate receipts of a paltry £104000! Tickets quite feasibly for the level of game at £25 would have meant that just over 4000 fans would have needed to attend to exceed that amount! And imo there would have easily been 2-3 times that number of PROPER fans on.
  11. That in itself illustrates how well Sparky has performed in the transfer market. Without doubt Jeffers has real quality and if he is only 4th in your opinion (btw not mine eddie but thats bye the bye) then just how good is that for BRFC?
  12. --> QUOTE(Ste B @ Nov 2 2006, 11:18 ) 456848[/snapback] Or indeed the stupid twots who in their haste to have a pop at BwD council, forget that the games actually in Birmingham Damn! That'll teach me to take a detour on my way home from work! Stupid Twot away guys. I still stand on though.... street after street of resident only parking areas are bound to turn supporters away and are inherently wrong.
  13. That would mean that Jeffers would have to break both legs Phil cos even with one he'd still be in my team at CF before Gally.
  14. Nobody can deny that this season is proving that really is no other way forward. Burnley flying high get crap crowds, Wigan punching well above their weight get crap crowds, Blackpool forget it, Notlob are seeing crowds down on last year despite being 3rd in the Prem, PNE big town but poor support and finally BRFC ... if we took the turnstiles off and registered one end as a mosque we could not get 20,000 home fans in! There really is NO alternative in the fullness of time CB. Enough fans who care enough to support their club properly no longer exist and thats bloody that! No argument there at all! It p1sses you off and it soddin well p1sses me off too but deep down you know that I am right.
  15. Be honest Rev those people are simply no longer interested enough in football / the club / the town. A passing interest at best. They are only interested in an excuse to give the wife to allow em to sup ale cos the Rovers are on in the pub. Weak characters with no pride or self respect..... thousands of em. They'll all of course pretend to be die hards when on their meditteranean hols etc chatting to fellow guests in the pool bar of their all inclusive hotel with their kids in last years Rovers shirt. Oh btw I'm still waiting to see our citizens of Asian descent descending in their massed thousands now that BRFC represents 'bargain' football. If ever the trem 'flogging a dead horse' applied this is it!
  16. Good show to the 13000 but an absolutely pathetic and embarrassing turn out and a smack in the face for the club! I've got to admit that it's bloody great only paying £20 for two European games for my lad and I! Superb in fact BUT the smart move now by the directors would be to abandon the whole experiment. Blackburn's fickle part timer fans are simply not worth the hassle, and the whole issue is losing the club money big time. I know that'll tick off the pro cheap footy brigade but you've got to admit it guys you were wrong! To the stay aways........It's very apt that it's remembrance day soon...... "One Jack Walker" lest any more forget what he did for you all.
  17. Franny Jeffers obviously reads this board! Plenty more handy hints where that came from Franny so don't be afraid to ask!
  18. More like 30 yards! I must have told you a million times not to exaggerate! I noticed a subtle difference last night from previous sub appearences from the Axe and one which I have been advocating for some time if he is to be used in a 4-4-2 formation. Last night Mokoena came on again for Sav but instead of filling in in Savs roving role he came out after the HT interval and played his more natural deep defensive role which invariably meant Tugay playing much further forward than he normally plays. Mokoena looked much more at ease and Tugay absolutely revelled in his forward link play.
  19. And they wonder why they struggle to sell tickets! Who the flerk wants to get a parking ticket / walk miles in winter or both simply to watch what will be on the big screen in some nice warm pub? Thanks YET again to the narrow minded twots at BwD Council.
  20. You could and hughes prob would but Todd is a better defender ino. Thanks for that Aggy. We need more deep thinkers like you on here.
  21. Doesn't make sense. According to that City had 5000 more than their old capacity on Tuesday Den. Whats wrong with that?
  22. We really need to protect our only two forwards now (until Nonda returns) so playing just one is the best way to do that. Benni played that at Porto I think, and I'm sure that Jeffers could make a decent fist of it too. They are strikers not midfielders so pick one / bench one is the safest option from an injury point of view. The guy behind at attacking mid would be Bentley. Emo right wing, Oijer behind him with an olive branch shared by Todd and Sparky. Rest of the team virtually picks itself.
  23. Agree with all that scottyy but maybe with injuries to 2 of our 4 strikers and a disfunctional midfield it may necessitate a return to 4-5-1 for certain games. Eh? 1. He doesn't play in their position. 2. Why has nobody offered millions for him then? Gally is a one trick pony. He can pass well and after that he is short of pace and power and worst of all he lacks EFFORT. When he is asked to put that little bit of graft in he goes awol. At Lpool he was subbed late on when we were hanging on for a point and for me Hughes could have taken him off and left us with 10 men for all the use he was. If we had paid money and brought him into the team from another club I cannot see people being as patient with him.
  24. Something which will sadly happen around here should we ever find ourselves down amongst the dead men for more than a year or two. It WILL happen here too cos we've seen it all before in the 70's and 80's.
  25. Nostalgic but a pipe dream. It'll never happen fife. The players simply want more bunce that the supporters can afford to give em nowadays.
