  1. You are not a good keeper if you cannot deal with a ball lobbed into your box when you are faced with static attackers and you have the advantage of extra reach with your hands. I cannot see it being anymore suicidal than giving a player a free punt at goal.
  2. You could also say a man on the post would have taken away the shot option. If it plays everyone onside so what? If the cross is played to the forwards, who would be static in the six yard box, I would expect the keeper to deal with it, or more likely a foul to be given to the keeper for the slightest of contact. You have to play the odds.
  3. The good thing is that our problem of loosing late goals, can be coached out. We have the basic skill levels to work with. I would be more worried if we had a squad that couldn't learn because they didn't have the Arte or the Laboure.
  4. Nyambe is good enough for our level, If he was any better he wouldn't be at the Rovers.
  5. personally I am not that bothered about moving from the Darwen end. The attraction for me was the unrestricted seating where you could be near who you chose to be near.
  6. In my opinion one of the reasons we drop so deep is due to a lack of leaders telling their teammates where to defend. I was lucky when I played ( all be it at a low level) our keeper used to bellow at us all the time telling us to push up when defending. if you commit a foul its easier to defend a 40 yard free-kick than a 20 yarder.
  7. An accurate long ball is often more effective than a multitude of short passes. Especially if your team has technically less gifted players.
  8. With our present forwards, I don't think crosses are our main attacking plan.
  9. His recovery, after a mistake is fantastic. But it would be better if he didn't make the mistakes in the first place. His performances have not been anywhere near the top of my worry list. I think he will be a great asset given a couple of seasons more experience, which I would certainly give him.
  10. Nothing so was claimed, but don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
  11. No as I stated earlier, Both sets of fans where chanting to the ref, "You don't know what you're doing". I would take that as a telling sign that the ref was having a stinker.
  12. I was talking about the entire game , not just that one incident. But on his decisions almost 20,000 thought he was wrong. 1 thought he was right. (Admittedly the most influential 1)
  13. Why do you make a big thing of Nyambe needing help. All defenders need help when two on one. I would challenge any defender at any level to cope with two attackers on there own. If that was any managers tactic they would soon show up as being unsuccessful. You state that helping another player weakens the team in other areas. On the contrary I would say that if you win the ball back the team is in a better position to win a game.
  14. Against Bristol especially in the first half, Evans seemed to be helping Bell when Bell was outnumbered, whereas Smallwood gave no help to Nyambe
  15. Except both sets of fans chanting, "You don't know what your doing".
  16. And isn't that turning out to be a fine system.
  17. I think he was pulled to try and introduce more attack from midfield. Most of Bristols threat in the second half came down our left side or from Rovers errors.
  18. Why didn't you quote my full post, as I stated there, from my position about thirty yards from the incident, the Bristol player slipped whilst trying and failing to control the ball. The linesman on our left side had a good view of the situation, but judging by the rest of his decisions he must have been briefed to only indicate off-sides and throw-ins. In my opinion the ref got it wrong.
  19. To tell you the truth, for their free-kick, I thought the Bristol player tried to control the ball and just slipped. It wasn't a foul by Nyambe. My biggest criticism of Nyambe is that he sees himself being doubled up on, but doesn't seem to demand any help.
  20. But I have never known a team do it every week. An example was the so called Arsenal invincibles.
