  1. Aren't Venkys the owners of Blackburn Rovers including Ewood and Brockhall? I never actually said sell Ewood by the way. My point was that several clubs owners have 'sponsored' the grounds for astronomical fees.
  2. Poor post that mate. Nobody is 'arguing' merely having a different view on something that might or might not happen. If you can't accept that you need to stop reading and posting
  3. I thought the Forest and Derby deals were sponsorship. My understanding was that the Indians already owned Ewood hence the CVA attained by the Rovers Trust. Forest have bought and sold but pay excessively high wages.
  4. It's a policy that is built on sand in my view. Therefore it's a roll of the dice. Selling your best players, as we have seen in the past is not a good policy. Derby and Forest (albeit with smaller gates) have circumvented FFP with some imagination.
  5. I think the notion of what you are saying is pretty much correct but for me there are far too many variables in to football to plan ahead like that. Loss of form, injury, falling out with the hierarchy and other things could seriously affect any player and see their value plummet. Of course the converse is that having a really good season could see values increase. I really hope that we are not planning for FFP by effectively rolling a dice.
  6. After a horrible journey up in what resembled a cattle truck (thanks to TPS) we had an enjoyable day and the game was one of the better pre season matches I have seen. I was looking particularly for the passing game that Mowbray seems keen to evolve but in the first half that passing game pretty much only involved Bell, Mulgrew, Lenihan and Bennett as they passed it to and fro to each other. The real impetus and change in tempo came with the introduction of firstly Travis quickly followed by several more youngsters. They ran with the ball, turned players, came inside and outside and generally ran Rangers around. A draw was probably a fair result although Rangers had the better of the chances. I know it's still pre season but with the old guard in the first half we looked a million miles away from a high intensity passing team that Mowbray wants. The youngsters gave me some hope but I'd be stunned if he plays any of them ahead of some of the older, slower players.
  7. I have just seen a Dyche interview from yesterday when Hart played in the second half at Port Vale. He said there have been no offers for him. It appears that one can be put to bed.
  8. Just keep posting mate. It appears to be a minority who are questioning you, the majority seem fine with your information. And anyway it doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, it's a message board of which a few are losing sight of.
  9. It's officially called Arcadia green although that does sound like its something to do with a pension stealing billionaire.
  10. I would have thought though John that cash flow was at its strongest at this time of year through season ticket sales. There could the money from be up to 10,000 supporters flowing into the coffers. I don't really believe that there is too much evidence of saving money by buying late in the window. Last year we signed Armstrong and Rothwell for what I believed were realistic prices but in my opinion we massively overpaid for Brereton in what appeared to be a panic buy. It's an aspect of any transfer window that I've never understood when the majority of clubs leave trading until the last knockings and run the risk of being held to ransom or indeed missing out on players who could make a real difference. This summer's case in point being Raya. Sold for decent money a few weeks ago and now with two weeks to go we haven't signed a replacement. If I was the agent of any prospective replacement for Raya I would be asking for silly money knowing that we are getting desperate.
  11. But there wasn't a problem last year John when we bought Rothwell, Armstrong and Brereton. The vast majority of transfers are settled with staged payments so the reality is that it is likely we have had to pay instalments for the aforementioned between the end of the season and start of the new one.
  12. No need to apologise for the failings of your Marketing Dept.
  13. Perhaps but I honestly find it a touch insulting. I am proud of my club and our blue and white shirts are synonymous with our heritage. This is the other end of the scale for me. As I said I would like to know who (if anybody) at Rovers gave their approval (you missed that out of your cherry picked quote). ?
  14. It's described as Flint Stone grey. Kind of sums it up to me.
  15. Why did we need the money? We have been told the budget was similar to last year. Will you be happy to start on August 3rd with Leutwiler in goal and Fisher on the bench?
  16. All eventualities have to be covered and the obvious thing to do was bring a replacement in then sell him. He was under contract and would have had to abide by that. I don't rate Raya and think we can do better but starting with Leutwiler is a backwards step for me
  17. When you say Rovers who specifically do you mean? I'm not putting you on the spot by the way as your information is usually good but it would be interesting to know who is dithering.
  18. I wouldn't normally comment on kits as I can't usually get worked up either way but that is abhorrent. There is no contrast with the colours and the bits of the Umbro diamond just demean the whole thing. If anybody connected with Rovers has sanctioned that then they should be accountable and explain the rationale behind such an obscene garment. Waggott et al should be questioned at a Fans Forum to find out why our club is forced to play in something that frankly is disgusting. I think Umbro will deservedly catch a cold with sales of these.
  19. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/july/boss-impressed-with-young-full-backs/ Mowbray talking about Hart and Rankin-Costello. I read it as Hart going out on loan but interestingly no mention of a loan for Rankin-Costello. I wonder if we will see him start the season as right back or wing back.
  20. How will we replace Grahams goals and hold up play? In my opinion it's another frustrating aspect of Mowbray where he complicates things by (his own admission) over thinking. Half of our squad couldn't pass water and he wants to turn us into a total footballing team. Nearly everybody could see our major weakness last season and he appears to be overlooking this now in favour of a major change in playing style. In my book it's madness.
  21. I have said many times a player is only worth what somebody will pay for him. If we were prepared to pay the alleged £5m and think it represents value that's fine but to compare that to what Zohore went for isn't comparing like for like to me.
  22. It looks like they are wearing sashes. I actually thought there was a regulation regarding the dimensions of advertising. This either exceeds it or certainly pushes the boundaries.
  23. I read something about them not having a safety certificate for Gigg Lane and the likelihood of getting one in time wasn't too good.
  24. Thanks Parson. I was I just intrigued about the benefits of joining.
  25. Is there any financial benefit in joining the away travel club Parson? For example is a trip that costs £20 for an occasional traveller cheaper in the complete package for a member?
