  1. Somebody has their ear for sure. I think Waggott and Suhail are so much in their comfort zones as illustrated by Waggott's ambition last season of avoiding relegation. They don't want too much expectation from anybody so insult our intelligence by coming out with ludicrous statements. To him and Suhail avoiding relegation will have been sold to the owners as meeting their targets. Very few people can breach the circle of trust between them two and the errant ones.
  2. It took Mowbray five seasons to achieve his highest Championship points tally and over several windows he was given healthy budgets. Tomasson did it in his first season with a paupers budget. And he bettered anything that Mowbray did in the FA and League cups. His 'tantrum'was because he was misled on several occasions. No real comparison unless you are just being a contrarian.
  3. For me this pretty much boils down to who has the ear of the owners and who has a hotline to them. I doubt whether Tomasson, Silvester or Broughton ever had any direct contact with the owners but Waggott and Suhail do - frequently. There is a lot of ruthless self preservation going on here and it reminds me of the days of Kean, Agnew and Anderson when the owners wouldn't listen to anyone else and the turmoil that followed was inevitable. The full should have started at the very too like any normal business - ask yourself why it wasn't.
  4. I had an email yesterday containing the 1875 newsletter. Interestingly at the bottom they have a link in which you can register interest for joining again next season. They know that it is highly likely that people will join to be certain of getting Burnley tickets assuming they come down. I only joined the last time to ensure we got tickets for Harrogate. I suggested at the time to Fraser Read that the club introduce a loyalty scheme whereby you get points for away attendance ensuring that loyalty is rewarded. It appears that Rovers are once again picking the low hanging fruit and once again rinsing the supporters.
  5. Cheston, Silvester and reportedly Broughton all leaving yet Waggott and Pasha survive. Add to that Tomasson actually name checking them both in his post match interview after his last game. Could it because Waggott and Pasha have a direct line to India and the others don't? Something smells again.
  6. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13396743/Championship-clubs-increase-permitted-lose-three-years-2-5m-following-rise-operational-costs-staff-wages.html Championship clubs have agreed to increase the allowable losses over a three year period by £2.5m. It is now £41.5m. This comes into effect shortly before the new Sky deal kicks in and the EFL have said it is to cover increases such as energy charges. Cue agents of players ringing CEO's today to renegotiate their clients deals.
  7. I watched the first episode of Tattooist of Auschwitz at the weekend. I was mightily impressed by the cinematography, acting and script. It's wasn't an easy watch in parts but I would certainly recommend watching it. It's on Sky Atlantic.
  8. Szmodics was amongst the crowd watching Bolton play Barnsley last night.
  9. He hasn't accepted responsibility but said all processes would be reviewed and another situation false where we missed the deadline to sign a player. Was the review ever done or was it lip service to appease us. Silvester has gone so he undoubtedly is the fall guy but but I am told Broughton is going too allegedly in a cost cutting exercise. Make of that what you will.
  10. Probably £2m in permanent signings and a considerable amount in loan fees to a club like us is a lot of money. Factor in wages and there is very little value for money.
  11. A matter of opinion surely. I don't see either of them as upgrades on Nyambe and Lenihan. It was said by someone at Ewood that the work for Szmodics was done by Mowbray and his team My judgement has been passed on Wahlstedt who I believe isn't as good as Pears although it's a low bar. It's about opinion though and you appear to be happy with Broughton and the work he has done. I don't share that view.
  12. It was reported than Szmodics was already scouted by the previous regime. Hyam and Brittain have been decidedly average. Tronstad I'll accept. What about Telalovic, Ennis, Wahlstedt, O'Connor and the plethora of loan deals which have contributed next to nothing and cost the club a lot of money.
  13. He has failed whichever way you spin it. His signings have contributed very little positivity to the squad, in fact the opposite. Rudy Gestede is the man who the players and club have put more trust in than Broughton recently so I see him as surplus to requirements Broughton accepted full responsibility for the O'Brien and Brierley disaster and said processes would be reviewed so it wouldn't happen again. It did and on his watch.
  14. I see Szmodics as a diluted version of Vardy. Came through via a tough schooling in non league, worked his way up through the leagues and grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Neither have been cosseted in academies and only know hard graft. Szmodics' attitude was exemplified by incidents at Sunderland and at home to Coventry. He went down injured and had lengthy treatment both times. Nobody expected him to play on but he did when many would have bailed out. That attitude is a big part of my respect towards him.
  15. Hopefully just one word from him - goodbye.
  16. 'They met our valuation' was the comment from either Waggott or Broughton when we sold him. What qualifies either of them to put a price on him? He was sold as a fire sale because our owners couldn't fund the day to day running of the club because of their nefarious business dealings. It was the first offer they had I am told and Palace played a blinder knowing they were dealing with amateurs and we were desperate for cash. There are many, many things to despise these people for but giving Adam away is up there with the worst.
  17. For a successful businessman it appears Ratcliffe hasn't really done due diligence on the Rags. The whole squad needs a huge overhaul and will cost hundreds of millions to do that. There isn't a lot of value in the current squad outside of two of three. The coaching team is second rate (McClaren ffs) and that will cost money to get shut of them. Who would want to manage them and essentially have to start from scratch? The theatre of dreamers is falling down and Carrington is in a huge state of disrepair. It's a real mess and the majority of football fans are finding it hugely amusing.
  18. And he then head butts the grille in the confessional box several times 😂. Brilliant.
  19. I watched Boys from the Blackstuff again recently and the social commentary at the time was eye opening. It had everything in it and Yosser was the main character. I'd seen him previously in a series called Fox and thought he was a really food actor then. This was iconic: RIP Bernard.
  20. We both started off with -16 goal difference and a three point gap. Them winning by any score and he losing would have given them a superior goal difference.
  21. I think it was the very first protest match and we went from the Havelock. It was fine until we got to Ewood and walked all the way around the ground. Some of the vitriol aimed at us was ridiculous and nobody marching rose to the clear provocation. I often wonder now what some of those people think particularly after the disastrous fourteen years.
  22. It wasn't said. That was the first I'd heard of it.
  23. I can't remember who it was but it was said on the radio when driving home from Leicester that a clause in Trafford's contract was that he had to play in 75% of the games. If that is true it reflects awfully on whoever agreed to it.
  24. In a day which will be remembered for lots of good things one of the most pleasing aspects was Szmodics receiving his Golden Boot award on the pitch in front of 2000 jubilant Rovers fans. It was a nice touch by somebody to do that and was greatly appreciated by the players, staff and supporters. If he does leave my last sight of him in a Rovers shirt with a prestigious individual trophy in his hands will be embedded in my happy Rovers memories.
