  1. Blimey, Id completely forgotten about that. There were three of them altogether weren't there including Smallwood who were in a similar sort of position and got extensions because good old Tone didn't want them to feel left out. Not quite as bad as giving Gladwin a new deal so he could use our facilities to get fit but still absolutely scandalous.
  2. Followed Furphy to 1st Division Sheffield Utd. Don't think he did much there but ended up at New York Cosmos who at the time had signed people like Pele and Beckenbauer at the end of their careers. Famously there's a picture of him with Pele, Id imagine he's the only ex Rovers player to have played with him! Not sure if any played against him when he was younger.
  3. It is a bit odd.....maybe we know we're coming up short on our other targets (unsurprisingly) Maybe also he didn't stick up for the lady who's left. If he had, you wouldnt have thought Suhail would be stepping in to block it. It'll probably go through with a raft of add ons taking the fee to a sum that "could" reach an eye watering Β£1.5m. If Peterbrough reach the Champions League and Harry gets his 10th Cap for England etc etc
  4. You were right first time. πŸ™„
  5. Impressive if you can deduce that when he's never been given a chance.
  6. Id be quite happy if Leonard stayed, we'd still need one more striker though and have all 4 competing. If Pasha has blocked this deal Mcguire style you can't imagine VI will be all that happy no matter how "aligned" ( fined myself Β£10) they were previously.
  7. Let us know the response. If you get any.
  8. I'm quite impressed by Alebiosu and Mclaughlin so far tbf. The opposite with De Neve and Henriksson hasn't started too well either. A lot will depend I think on how Baradji does. It will be fairly disastrous if we replace our Club Captain and leader on the pitch without someone who's basically unavailable for selection. And I still think we need (a lot) more firepower.
  9. Maybe. Palace will end up doing a Southampton if they keep selling their best players.
  10. Good comparison. The scale of the clear out is very Furphylike. The distinctions Id make are a) Furphy was a young up and coming "tracksuit" manager which was still a bit of a departure in those days. Ismael is a seasoned manager who's been round the block a few times without any particular success. b) Many of the players we've lost this summer were our best performers last season not players who'd been worn down and needed shipping out. Incidentally didn't we get off to a bad start under Furphy in his first half season? I seem to remember us hovering around the bottom 2 (two up and two down in those days) until just before Christmas. He might have been lucky to survive in these more trigger happy/ social media/ Internet days.
  11. Equally, it could be the worst transfer window we've ever had. Far too early to say either way.
  12. Don't think the possibility that Lowe has made a long overdue departure is being queried more the fact that Suhail was seemingly unaware he was leaving or had left and apart from Ismael saying it, all other indicators are he's still employed by the Club.
  13. Down to two strikers in the squad now. We had Ramsey's Wingless Wonders - now meet Ismael's Toothless Terrors!
  14. 3rd time we've agreed recently. 😁 To be replaced by some dollop who ends up to be Telalovic Mk 2 no doubt.
  15. No it wasn't - it was immediately after we got promoted from League 1. Stop trying to twist the facts to try and defend him. That window you're on about I was also told by someone whose source was allegedly Waggott himself that Venky's offered Mowbray a substantial war chest (in addition to the promotion bonuses which were actually published in the LT) which he declined to use. So any suggestion that Rothwell needed to be sold to raise funds that window is nonsense as far as Im concerned
  16. That's obviously why they're doing it to discourage fans from bringing in their own food and drinks and drive people towards the over-priced crap on the concourse.
  17. Disagree, need someone who's got a good chance of hitting the ground running and who's arguably better than Ohashi and Gueye even if it's only a loan. If you're going to gamble you might as well give Leonard a proper chance.
  18. So do we know what happened with the case yesterday?
  19. Wow, is that some sort of pennance for something? πŸ™‚ The standard in the Eredivisie is a lot lower than the PL Id say, is that the same for their second tier compared to ours?
  20. Ah OK. Thanks. Not getting great vibes off that one. Presumably not good enough for the Dutch top flight. Is 6ft 3" though so would fit in Val's Valley of the Giants.
  21. I think you're the one that's getting confused. Im not saying they deserve massive credit for covering losses incurred due to their negligent running of the Club in the past but at least they covered/are covering them. You're talking as though these losses never occurred. It also seems beyond dispute that they've been unwilling to keep putting as much money in since the Court case. Just the bare minimum necessary for cash flow purposes to keep the lights on whilst we sell whatever we can to minimise the overall amount they need to put in.
