I said at the time, Dack on for Morton and drop Szmods back to play as the midfield carrier. Dack playing as a False 9, bringing the two wide lads into play. The draw is on the manager, as it should be - he made the call to change formation. But to suggest we should be sacking him is absolutely batshit crazy. Take a step back and look at things objectively; he's been the best thing to happen to our club in a LONG time. There is no doubt that we are massively better than we were at the start of the season (performance-wise) and I'm encouraged by JDT's ability to coach and develop players. Couple of good signings(!) in the summer, and we'll be a very handy team next season. -

It wouldn’t be accurate to say we were abysmal. Defensively solid and midfield were fine, just nothing in attack. This changed with the subs at HT, both of whom were upgrades on who they’d replaced. Just needed Hedges to do anything other than what he chose to do, with that late chance and we’re sitting 5th, with a game in hand. -

Fully expect this to happen. Not sure my ticker could cope with the final game at Millwall though… -

Come on, we’re all gutted at the late goal, but let’s not be putting tin foil hats on. -

On for Morton, drop Szmods deeper and Dack as the False 9. Szmods as the midfield carrier. -

Hedges has been really good since coming on. And I think a Tesco carrier bag would have offered more than Dolan. Good changes, but we need to put one away. -

I’d have kept Thomas on, but getting Dolan off was the big one. -

I felt he was good on the ball, some nice sharp passes, particularly in the first half of that half. No progressive passes, but I thought he looked a lot better than his recent (albeit poor) standard. -

Thought Morton was very good that half, to be fair. Wharton is a superstar in the making, absolutely no doubt. Dolan horrific again, more damage than good with him on; BBD has to replace him at HT. The lack of a striker is January is what’s killing us, yet again. -
Just read his interview in the Lancs Live (Here) and it was good to hear the real reasons of why he wasn't in the squad until recently, directly from him. Injuries combined with having to work on certain areas of his game, as opposed to the weird conspiracy theories about falling out with JDT. Sounds like he's grateful of the development work he's been subject to this season, and feels he's a better player for it. We'd have all liked to see him more this season and I've said plenty of times that the 'fallout' stuff was a load of guff, but hopefully he stays first choice in that midfield for the rest of the season now.

Agree with all of that, except for Brittain - thought his first half was good, more average in the 2nd. Really hope we start with Leonard, but suspect it'll be Dolan or Dack (or even Szmods) in that false 9 position. -

Such a shame, after a good first half. Unless Wharton took a knock, I do not understand taking him off - he was running the game and would have been invaluable in those final minutes. But if you can't beat the likes of Coventry, you have to question if you deserve a top 6 finish. -

I don’t think that’s fair (or accurate). Wharton has had injury troubles this season, but JDT has been honest in saying that Wharton needed to work on certain aspects of his game. I think he’s an incredible talent and would have loved to have seen more of him so far this season, but we have to trust JDT’s judgement on this; he sees the boy every day in training. -

Good first half. Great cross and great header for the goal, happy for both players involved. Started with a smart pass from Brittain, who has also been very good this half. Mention for Wharton also; he’s a joy to watch, makes the game look easy. Results currently going our way… -

If Dolan, Thomas and A.Wharton had started today, I'm positive we don't lose this match. -

Just not good enough. I’m a big fan of the work JDT has done so far, but it worries me how often we fall short in the big matches. Thought the Norwich fans made a lot of noise, but other than the odd ‘City’, I genuinely could not understand a word they were singing. I know it’s bit weird down in Wherever-folk, but it’s like they were speaking a foreign language. Thought Wharton showed more in 15 minutes than Morton has in 15 games; the lad has to play regularly, if he’s now fit. Final point, a bit random, but why do a handful of fully grown, adult men (in their 50’s or 60’s) feel the need to shout ‘tactical instructions’ to the players from their seats? Like, genuinely, what do they think they achieve? One was at it the whole game in the JW lower today and it’s embarrassing beyond much else I can think of. -

100% not true. There is no financial obligation for us to play Morton. -
Totally agree with this and it's been the same for me - being born in the mid-80's, Burnley never registered to me. They were always in the lower end of the leagues, whilst we challenged for the Prem title, main rivals being Man Utd. Whilst I appreciate the rivalry goes back much further than that, they've always been the strangely obsessed little cousin to me. I've worked and lived over that way and they take it all so seriously, it's hilarious. Their reaction to this allocation just reminds me of that mentality. They shouldn't care; they'll probably go up this season and this match means very little in the grand scheme of things to them. For us, it's an opportunity to pick up more points as we aim to stay in the top 6. If them having a smaller set of fans cheering them on helps us on the pitch in even the smallest way, the club has 100% done the right thing.

Andy Cole Appreciation Thread
Andy replied to SuperBrfc's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I really liked Cole; we've been so lucky to have seen the likes of Shearer, Cole, Jansen, Santa Cruz, Bellamy and McCarthy - all top, top players in the Prem. He linked up so well with the likes of Tugay and Jansen and was really key to the League Cup win and our league successes, in that era. It's going back a while now, but I suspect my first instinct would have been to wonder if he was still motivated to do a job for us, after his time at United and the way he was forced out by Fergie. But, boy, was he? -

But they're not going anywhere, so you lose both ways. Support the team, not who sits in the boardroom. -

Totally agree - he's been exceptional since his return. Including his distribution and ball retention, I've been really pleased with how much he's come on under JDT. -

I’ve tried to calm down a bit before I comment. Changing to 5 at the back backfired today, but if it had seen the game out for us, it would have been a masterstoke. Agree with a couple who said that we should have bolstered the midfield instead. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that they were having a few chances just before the changes were made, so a change was needed. And Sheffield missed some excellent chances in both halves - like the 1-on-1, for example. But we should have scored 3/4 ourselves and the boys should be proud of this run. And now back to the priority of securing a play off spot. Imagine beating this team of cavemen at Wembley to get us back to the Prem (with a last minute screamer)… -
