  1. 100% not true. There is no financial obligation for us to play Morton.
  2. Totally agree with this and it's been the same for me - being born in the mid-80's, Burnley never registered to me. They were always in the lower end of the leagues, whilst we challenged for the Prem title, main rivals being Man Utd. Whilst I appreciate the rivalry goes back much further than that, they've always been the strangely obsessed little cousin to me. I've worked and lived over that way and they take it all so seriously, it's hilarious. Their reaction to this allocation just reminds me of that mentality. They shouldn't care; they'll probably go up this season and this match means very little in the grand scheme of things to them. For us, it's an opportunity to pick up more points as we aim to stay in the top 6. If them having a smaller set of fans cheering them on helps us on the pitch in even the smallest way, the club has 100% done the right thing.
  3. I really liked Cole; we've been so lucky to have seen the likes of Shearer, Cole, Jansen, Santa Cruz, Bellamy and McCarthy - all top, top players in the Prem. He linked up so well with the likes of Tugay and Jansen and was really key to the League Cup win and our league successes, in that era. It's going back a while now, but I suspect my first instinct would have been to wonder if he was still motivated to do a job for us, after his time at United and the way he was forced out by Fergie. But, boy, was he?
  4. But they're not going anywhere, so you lose both ways. Support the team, not who sits in the boardroom.
  5. Totally agree - he's been exceptional since his return. Including his distribution and ball retention, I've been really pleased with how much he's come on under JDT.
  6. I’ve tried to calm down a bit before I comment. Changing to 5 at the back backfired today, but if it had seen the game out for us, it would have been a masterstoke. Agree with a couple who said that we should have bolstered the midfield instead. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that they were having a few chances just before the changes were made, so a change was needed. And Sheffield missed some excellent chances in both halves - like the 1-on-1, for example. But we should have scored 3/4 ourselves and the boys should be proud of this run. And now back to the priority of securing a play off spot. Imagine beating this team of cavemen at Wembley to get us back to the Prem (with a last minute screamer)…
  7. Sammie! Fucking finish! Credit to Morton and Gally, in fairness.
  8. I’m not as hard on Gally as a lot on here, but he’s been mostly dreadful today - more of a hindrance than a help up top. Make the change, JDT.
  9. I’d go with this - and, if we need a goal late on, throw on Leonard. Full of confidence, banging them in for the U21s.
  10. Just said this to my missus now. As (highly) amusing as it is to watch the Dingles getting smashed, we wouldn't fare much better if we get them in the next round. Haaland is an animal though. Honestly think he's better than Shearer at 22, as absolutely world class as Shearer was for us.
  11. The Administration / points deduction thing is quite interesting, as I’ve read that it’s in relation to non payment for players, such as Anel. As Anel has been a huge part of their season and a big reason why they’re in the top 6, if they continue to fail to pay for him, could that not be construed as an unfair advantage over clubs like Rovers (who, coincidentally, would have paid for him)?
  12. I’ll second this - not as a student, but I used to work in the north part of the city and looking after the students was one of the many duties (I was based at Broomhall). To say it’s Yorkshire, Sheffield is alright.
  13. Just came across this on social media. Despite some fans feeling that he’s not had a great season, BBD has clearly been our most effective forward in literally every area analysed. Good to see the stats supporting Trav’s performances also, particularly after returning to the team.
  14. Not sure I'd agree with that. Can't comment on what his situation at P'boro was, but everything I read from their fans suggested that they were gutted he was leaving. As for his first half of the season, he was in/out of the side and had injury issues, but he certainly showed glimpses of his talent - like the goal at Swansea for example. Delighted at how well he's doing now, looks a very good Championship player, at the peak of his powers. Looks to be a very good addition to the side, at a very decent price.
  15. 5 points clear of 7th / 9 points off 2nd. Going to be an interesting last 9 games...
  16. Made it hard for ourselves, but decent performance and huge win.
  17. Almost like JDT knows what he's doing 😉
  18. Big Sam making up for the misses with that assist!
  19. Neither did SG. But either way, the point remains, Gallagher isn't anywhere near the worst striker in your lifetime (unless you're under 10).
  20. Not even close - Chris Brown alone was several shades worse. However, he could have doubled his season's tally tonight. We HAVE to take one of these chances, or we all know what's happening in the 93rd minute...
  21. Think Trav deserves some credit again as well; he's been a different player since being dropped. Should be several up, but really need that 2nd goal. As shit as Reading are, they'll have a chance in the 2nd half.
  22. Sam Szmodics has been good again tonight. Really think he's been quite central to our recent form.
  23. Gally should have had a hat trick this half.
