  1. A lot different but using Lancashire ccc as an example they sold memberships pre covid but once it became apparent there would be no cricket they offered either full refunds or asked if people would be prepared to donate their membership fees to help the club tick over. Not sure how much membership fees actually help but I decided I’m in a position where for the sake of whatever it was they could have it. Do my tiny bit. Rovers could do something similar but I think there’s so much ill will towards the owners I doubt many would donate a penny. I know wouldn’t. I believe lancs have even sold a fair few since Covid in the full knowledge there would be no cricket as they also offered stuff like % off next years, % off club shop, priority window to purchase international tickets for England V India next year, thank you diner with a “legend”etc. Now none of that is of any interest to me but they’re thinking outside the box. Rovers just aren’t capable.
  2. I suspect Waggott and his management team are still burnt out from having to make a decision on the cardboard cutouts. Give them a chance for some r&r for gods sake. They’ve also got to come up with sound bites about why defenders didn’t come and why the must fabled European scouting network is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Then there’s the pre season vs barrow to arrange. Thinking outside the box with season tickets when they need cash flow, various Covid scenarios. Come on please be realistic.
  3. Scraping the barrel even by talkshite standards.
  4. Certainly not my experience when I learnt as a kid. Initially the golf swing seemed unfathomable to me. So many little things had to remember. Weight over balls of feet, knees slightly bent, arse out, left arm straight, cock wrists, head/legs/body still, transfer the weight, follow through straight, etc. Or something like that. As I used to think what bit comes next it was too late. My grandad said to me it’s not like driving a car golf takes practice. ?. Everyone has their own style I suppose if I replicated Jim furyk’s swing doubt I’d get the ball airborne but the best advice I got was on the back swing if ends up with right elbow tucked in and hand like carrying a tray won’t be far away.
  5. Perhaps in the minority but I think pre seasons are more important than people give them credit for. There was an era when players would finish the season go on the lash for 2 months then they were simply about regaining fitness before the season. These days with increased professionalism their fitness should be unchanged and looking to sharpen the edges giving us the extra percent. I think more can be learnt chasing shadows losing 6-0 to a side like Liverpool than beating Barrow-in-Furness or Rochdale reserves not getting out of 2nd gear. I’m sure it’s not a coincidence between the quality of oppo we usually play and the poor starts to the season.
  6. I think Rovers are even more hopeless behind the scenes than on the pitch. I really don’t know whether it’s the staff (such as Wagott) that aren’t up to it or whether everything has to be run through India and then nothing happens. Clitheroe fc a pub team by comparison are selling season tickets for £50 and seem to try hard to get folk in. With the depressing inevitably of the transfer window and dithering over season tickets might give them 50 quids worth if nothing is announced at rovers.
  7. A good player for standard we found (find) ourselves in. Grateful for his service. I’ve got one of these complete history of Blackburn Rovers books in which there is a chapter designated to each of the “100 star players”. If a similar book was to be written tomorrow would Danny Graham make the list. ?‍♂️. For my money probably not.
  8. Well we’ve not done a Huddersfield. Personally I’d like to have seen more of the kids start considering the shift they put in last weekend. Oh and I’d rather play a mannequin found at the tip than Walton but hey ho.
  9. Travis to Coventry, Armstrong to Wigan, nyambe to Stanley, Dack to Wycombe. On the face of it it’s a joke but we know if anyone stumps up the readies there’s little logic to the Venkys thinking. How can you second guess owners that aren’t interested in success or balancing the books.
  10. My personal favourite is using another clubs failure to somehow justify our own failures as success. Well Bristol city have spent millions and we’re ahead of them long live Tony.
  11. Clearly there’s a lot more at stake for Luton than ourselves but after Huddersfield/Wagner gifted Birmingham points when we were relegated I hope we honour the spirit of fair play and try. That said I hope we do actually play a lot of the kids mainly because I think we have a better chance of winning. I’ll be gutted if revert to Bennett and keep playing bloody Walton. Although we have an inability to play vs relegation threatened sides as the dead rubber world champions Luton will be in for a game. Plus if Luton win and it results in that scouse dingle Cook going down or the big club. Sweet.
  12. He may be 35 but I reckon could do worse than David Marshall at Wigan. Jonathan Bond at WBA has been mentioned, as has Darlow at Newcastle. But as with most transfers Mowbray has an inability to get them over the line so not overly confident
  13. Since the restart there has been an overriding sense that a shot on goal equals a goal. Exactly what happened today. If we tied a bag of spuds in the middle of the goal it’d be as effective as Walton and wouldn’t make as many mistakes.
  14. This is true although it was a pretty feeble attempt for stokes goal today.
  15. Defenders are coming. Have been for 7 transfer windows. Just need a little patience. Plus with the much ballyhooed European scouting network it’s a done deal this summer.
  16. Can’t believe Eeyore scored.
  17. At least it’s Walton’s penultimate game he’s up there with Bennett for errors.
  18. The dead rubber champions
  19. I’m getting myself wound up here but from past interviews and at the end of that article I think he truly believes that rovers fans disliked the owners and took it out on him. If I ever see him in person (god help me control my anger) I will let him know in no uncertain terms that it’s him I hated for being him nothing to do with disliking the owners.
  20. Re that original article “I slept on it and realised that I had to be honest. So I told him the truth. There is no point trying to fudge these things or paint it a different way.” Had to be honest is he for real. I think hate is a strong word to describe someone and believe it but I hate that guy.
  21. No danger of a new manager or new signings then. The last thing the club would want is fans wanting to buy a season ticket and having the conundrum of choosing who gets to go. For the good of social distancing they should stick to what they’re doing and no one will want to go anyway.
  22. Or the highly likely 3rd option. Nothing changes everyone happy picking up a decent wage under no pressure nothing changes and we limp on towards next season.
  23. Can we not kidnap their Bennett and leave our one behind for compensation
  24. Nah. Often the most obvious explanation is usually correct. So it seems clear to me that Tony being fond of choccy biccies was caught romancing some sort of Victoria sponge American pie style. Bennett seeing this filmed him on his phone and is using it as a way of leveraging himself into the team as captain. Obvious really
