  1. As a smoker from the age of 16 to 70 I have total sympathy with all who try to stop. It is definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I tried patches, gum, mist spray, none worked for me, but never vaping, only because I’d seen too many quit cigs but get fixed onto vaping permanently. That was a personal choice and vaping is one method recommended by the NHS as an aid to stop smoking. I don’t think any method is 100% guaranteed to work, and are they all safe? That’s the $6400 question. I stopped using an NHS recommended product called Champix. It worked and I’ve been a smoke free zone for two years, but Champix has since been removed from the list because it has been found that it may cause cancer in certain people. A double edged sword then.
  2. Scored in the 97th minute added time by a good Lancashire Ref. COYB
  3. We’ll leave it then. I must search out the Catholic prayer room at Ibrox and the Church of Scotland prayer room at Parkhead.
  4. I’m sorry I don’t understand what rule you are asking me not to like. You are the one who said it’s for our Asian supporters, but it’s a multi faith prayer room, so exactly which faiths are you saying are allowed to use it. I will remind you that Asia is home to a multitude of different faiths. I certainly won’t go elsewhere on your say so by the way.
  5. That’s what I said it was. Just don’t see why I would have to remove my shoes to enter it.
  6. No it’s not just for Asian supporters, as can be seen by the title it.
  7. A smart move it include all fans especially the young ones from the whole community, but this is a reminder that it is still not totally inclusive. It’s described as a Multi Faith Prayer Room, so why do I have to remove my shoes. To enter a Mosque then of course, but surely not here.
  8. Too true, football is a game of confidence and ours has just been shot
  9. Dialect can sometimes be a wonderful thing when you find yourself in foreign parts. Many years ago when working in Australia, I was filling up my car in an outback petrol station late at night and went into the shop to pay. There was an elderly gentleman behind me in the queue who overheard me talking to the shop assistant, and he said to me “ Nah then lad, where are you from”? England I replied. I know that but whereabouts? Lancashire I said I’m from Blackburn. I thought so, I’m from Oswaldtwistle he said. I said that must be true because you can say it. He was in his eighties and had emigrated in the 50’s as a £10 Pom, but had retained his dialect of which he was very proud.
  10. This time last year they were 5th and we were 15th. It’s a funny old game.
  11. Exactly. That’s where the fault lies in my opinion.
  12. I totally agree with all of that Den. I am one who always relish Test cricket above all other forms, and the various limited over formats have undoubtedly affected England test cricket. Consider this though, Australia have the Big Bash and India the IPL. I don’t see a detrimental effect on either of those countries test performances.
  13. Can only follow that with…. Robert Zimmerman Like a Rolling Stone
  14. Most Americans that I’ve come across think I’m an Australian. My reply is to ask them if they are from Vancouver or Toronto.
  15. Remind me, what’s the title of this forum? Oh yes “Football Topics”. Just saying
  16. “Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and making yourself available to receive a pass. It’s a terribly simple game” ”A football team is like a piano. You need eight men to carry it and three who can play the damn thing” William Shankly OBE Please can someone translate these quotes into modern football jargon so that the intelligent among us can understand what is being said.
  17. Just heard a new one while watching Manchester v Leeds. “Foden is a master at putting the ball at risk” This from the female co- commentator whoever she may be. WTF does that mean. Should I be ringing The Royal Society for the Protection of Balls?
  18. This game matters very much in my opinion. The time of year where an away win against a top two team would give our lot so much confidence to push on in the New Year. On the other hand look what happened when we last played a top two team, another 7 goal drubbing would be a real killer. A game where there is nothing to lose? I think not.
  19. What!!!! not one member of the Coventrio attending. Looks like a great night and hope all goes well with the money raising and congrats to all involved with the organisation.,
