  1. Agreed. Obviously a good finisher but there is a fair bit lacking from his game.
  2. I like De Neve. Works hard, bit of pace and seems to be able to nick the ball off opposition players.
  3. I agree, but Venky's are always behind the curve when it comes to Football. Probably still seething from Best, Murphy and Etuhu.
  4. He'll be 30 by the time that 2 years is done. The club only offer 1 year contracts to players over 30 (hence the 1 year option), I'm sure I read that somewhere.
  5. I think we need another centre back, even after McLoughlin signs. Carter is constantly injured and Wharton will take a while to get anywhere near up to the required level. Maybe a loan, unless there is an academy player ready to step up? Otherwise we are solely reliant on McLoughlin and Hyam for the majority of the season.
  6. It'll still go through. He want's to leave, he won't sign a new deal, we are "learning" from past mistakes (apparently) As expected, we'll just end up accepting a deal that see's him leave for a fraction of his value.
  7. Probably about the same time it takes a club to agree a fee for Callum Brittain, who only has 12 months left on his contract and is currently at a cash strapped Rovers, in fairness.
  8. The McLoughlin deal makes a lot of sense. Plenty of championship experience, left footed and we are desperate for a centre back. Taking advantage of Hull's situation as well, which makes a refreshing change, as it's normally us strapped for cash.
  9. Advanced talks means very little as far as this football club is concerned
  10. Yeah, not looking good right now. Even worse when you cast an eye towards the bench. Who's coming off the bench to impact a game? De Neve? Gueye?
  11. With Carter and Wharton being injury prone, that's us at full strength. Are we not at least a little bit worried about this upcoming season as it stands?
  12. The only deals we hijack, are our own.
  13. He'd also require compo if we signed him, no idea on the level it would take but I think we can forget it.
  14. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25314186.blackburn-rovers-transfer-plan-callum-brittain-bids/ From the horses mouth, no less.
  15. Definitely a dangerous game they are playing. Shipping out plenty of championship experience in favour of unknown players from abroad, could end spectacularly badly this season.
  16. As per JDT's remit, VI will only have 2 jobs: 1. Develop players 2. Stay in the Championship Much less money to be made from players sales in League One. They don't want relegation but there is clearly no desire for promotion either.
  17. Yep, agreed. The manager has now admitted we are in a transitional phase, which we were not planning on being in. I think the indications from Brittain's, Tronstad's & Travis' camp have been, we are not signing new deals. So we're now looking to move all of them on and replace with cheaper, younger alternatives.
  18. Was just about to post the same thing. Interesting quotes from the article: So, we have already changed this summers plan and are now, apparently, in a transition period. We want to reduce the average age of the squad. Batth and Weimann were probably never really staying, especially as we re-signed Forshaw, if we are looking at younger players. Tronstad turns 30 next month, so I suspect there is little appetite from the club to sign him back up. As Brittain is on his way out (27) and replaced with a 23 year old, I suspect that the club are in no rush to sign Travis (27, 28 later this year) up either.
  19. Is that holding the club to ransom? I thought he was told he wouldn't get as much game time as he was hoping for, had an opportunity to go on loan and took it? Don't tell me that the club weren't happy to offload his wages for 6 months.
  20. Sign Alebiosu on Thursday and on Friday Brittain has suddenly downed tools, as if Boro had just emerged out of no where. I suspect Boro have been in contact with Brittain for some time, hence why he was "close" to signing a new deal 3 weeks ago, which never happened. The club will have been after a right back anyway but i'm sure they were aware of Brittain's desire to leave, and so moved for Alebiosu as his replacement, once it was clear he wasn't staying. Let's not forget that the club instantly turned the whole situation back onto Brittain by saying he chose not to play. Now the majority of fans (on social media at least) aren't bothered about him going, calling him a snake etc. or "he's only had 1 good season". Job done from the clubs point of view. Might get a loan from the prem later in the window as cover but yeah, Alebiosu is CB's replacement, 100%. Edit: Also, how many times do we sign a player and in their interview they say they've known about our interest in them for a long time. These things don't just happen overnight.
  21. We were "in talks" with Ajax about Sivert Mannsverk about a week ago as well.
