  1. Good timing on this, he's just got their lad sent off.
  2. Ipswich down to 10, when was the last time we took an advantage like this?
  3. I didn't realise that Eustace had already made Trav captain.
  4. Carter is indeed injured. Tell me selling Hyam on deadline day, was anything other than financial.
  5. But we're not, because it's all about results!
  6. Is he stood next to Dean Whitehead, about 10 seconds in?
  7. It would be worth it for Vinjay's reaction alone, for Rovers to appoint Phil Jones in some capacity.
  8. He's got a long way to go before he convinces me he's any good. Only 6 wins in 18 games, with 9 losses. He's got his squad now, or so he says, so we will see if results improve. Based on his history, i can't imagine it will improve much. And like Mowbray, he seems to be a streaky manager. What was it, 6 losses on the bounce when he arrived? followed by 5/6 unbeaten.
  9. As it stands right now, we are weaker. We've allowed so much championship experience to leave and replaced with hardly any. As the season progresses and the players get more and more games under their belts, the gap should start to close but I think we'll only know for sure by the season end. We'll see how the new boys cope when the games are coming thick and fast.
  10. Has anyone pre-ordered this? I'd really like to get the book but I don't want to of it paints Venky's in any kind of glowing light.
  11. Can any championship club "afford" wages, most will be in significant debt and running at a loss, surely? The club would have had very little problems in getting all 4 on a new contract if the club paid the going rate in the championship and showed some level of ambition but as we do neither, it's no wonder they all left. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to seeing how the new players get on but we all know that none will be here beyond the length of their contracts, or even within the last 12 months of their contracts, as the new norm is to sell anyone who has 12 months or less on their current deal, and none will sign an extended deal because our salaries on offer are too low. As @Tomphil2 says above, it won't be long before our players are leaving for Preston and Oxford because they will have overtaken us.
  12. Our self imposed wage cap has already seen us lose Travis, Hyam, Dolan and Brittain. 4 players who would be starting here every week, 3 of which went to other championship clubs. We'll never retain any good players, as they will always want to leave for more money. So the results on the pitch will inevitably get worse as the quality of the squad is constantly reduced.
  13. No, it's a great example, that was the first thing I thought of when I read your previous post. Sentiment can't stand in the way of progress in football
  14. Szmodics, who would walk into our starting 11, was on the bench for them in their last game. Which shows you what we are up against. I think we'll get beat 0-1, but we'll push them all the way.
  15. Do you not see with this self imposed wage cap, we'll never progress as a club? Our better players will always leave for more money and it's not to clubs in the Premier League anymore, it's Boro, Derby and Wrexham. This set up will inevitably lead us to another relegation to League One.
  16. That was more my angle, both teams have invested a lot or money. There isn't good backing without the expectations that they will do something. How long do you leave it? 10/12 games is a quarter of a season, which is a lot of ground to make up if you leave it that long. Wrexham might be looking at establishing themselves in the division this season but I have no doubts the Birmingham owners have an eye on the PL.
  17. At least the club have now finally admitted the contract offers weren't great for those players. I'd have to watch it again but the interview with BBC Lancs sport he said there was a payrise on offer for Brittain but Travis and Hyam were just offered a 1 year extension to their current terms. So no real effort made to keep our club captain, or our CB who played every minute of last season.
  18. I think both Birmingham and Wrexham will have expected better starts than what they've had. Birmingham in particular will have had an eye promotion, don't think they'll leave it much longer if results don't pick up. Neither will be getting sacked just yet, as both have a lot of credit in the bank but one to keep an eye on for sure. Sheff Utd can only be a couple of losses away at best, before they bin Selles.
  19. How long before Sheff Utd, Wrexham and Birmingham all change their managers? All 3 performing way below expectations, surely?
  20. One outstanding cross field pass (straight onto the foot of the on running Alebiosu) aside, he brought nothing to the game. Corry Evans MK2: 5 yard passes, no tackles, jogs about a bit.
  21. I don't think Taveres and Tronstad work very well as a pairing, as they're both defensive midfielders. Assume Hickman, and later Baradji, were brought in to break up the pairing but you'd be putting Tronstad in ahead of Taveres as it stands right now.
  22. In other news, Weimann has scored for Derby.
  23. Proper weird sub, leaving Tavares on and taking Tronstad off. Fucking hell Vi
