v Coventry (h) 19/4/23 @ 19:45
jim mk2 replied to Sweaty Gussets's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The Coventry away match was one of the worst Rovers experiences in decades of supporting and there’s been a fair few of those this season. Their supporters didn’t expect to win and were surprised at how poor we were. Will it be any different this time ? Unlikely. This fixture also has echoes of 1966-67 when Coventry shaded a crunch match at Ewood late in the season that effectively ended our promotion hopes. Not a good omen -
Tomasson does not want it. This season has come too soon in the project.
-
Big boost for Rovers this result …,, now watch us fail to take advantage tomorrow
-
Good old Tone. Always looking for a problem that didn’t need solving
-
Ryan Giles playing well for Boro - only the great Tony Mowbray will know why we didn’t sign him. Lenihan instrumental too.
-
Come on Bonny Boro. The rain might win this match though
-
S Wharton was a liability when he was last in the side. I don’t see any reason to bring him back
-
No reason at all to recall Gallagher and Scott wharton doesn’t deserve to play ahead of Carter

Play-offs - Can we do it? (POLL)

No from me We’re not quite good enough and too many difficult games - eg likely nul points from the Preston and Burnley matches It’s a project -
Wasn’t Bobby Bell the player who pulled out of a game because he cricked his neck washing his hair?
-
Ken Knighton and Allan Hunter were signed that summer IIRC. Two superb players who would walk into the current team. How did we manage without a “director of football”?
-
Tough end to the season and this on paper at least is one of the “easier” ones. So yes, this is a must win and no excuses or playing well but drawing as at Huddersfield. A scabby 1-0 win is fine
-
Have to say I like the cut of his jib. We need "leaders" on the pitch and his competitive streak and demands for the others to do better marks him out as captain material - possibly better than Travis? Still not sure what his best position is though because he's certainly not a right back

Another pleasant day in the Emerald Isle spoilt by this inept manager and team -
Keith Newton and Ronnie Clayton lived close to us in days gone by. Used to love seeing them pottering about doing the chores
-
Really annoyed about that result. Don’t have any love for Leicester but I’d like Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic to go down. Their presence along with the likes of Brentford, Brighton etc in the top flight is irksome
-
It’s as good as any. From what I’ve read about yesterday though if the players aren’t motivated and in the wrong frame of mind if doesn’t matter how we line up

Colin has got Huddersfield buzzing. My goodness what a good manager he still is even well into his 70s. Twice in the past decade we had the chance to hire him and we flunked it both times - poor decisions that made no sense and with his record possibly cost us promotion. Although Rovers have a history of pulling out unexpected victories it is difficult to see anything other than another defeat -

Glad to be away at the weekend and enjoying some Irish hospitality than having to endure today. To judge from the comments on here, and if we continue in this slump and looking at the remaining games we might not get another point this season. -

Fucking useless and so predictable. Sitting here in a beautiful restaurant in Dublin. Thanks for spoiling my day -
Bonkers post 1 Leicester and West Ham might not be PL clubs very soon 2 Both of them would be stark staring mad to appoint him anyway given his rubbish track record as a manager 3 West Ham fans despise him because he deserted them for Chelsea as a young player
-
Bournemouth, Southampton and West Ham would be the perfect trio to go down and replaced by 3 northern clubs. I think Leicester have had it though. They looked like a relegation side against us
-
I hope Reading go down - I've been 4 times and we've lost every time. Plus, Paul Ince is the manager, and we all remember his glorious reign at Ewood Disagree about parking at Reading though. There's some business units just a 5 minute walk from the ground which have free parking on match days - alot of Reading fans go there. And Reading is always a place where you can just turn up and pay. But I won't miss going there
-
It's not looking good for Adam Wharton He may be talented but if his attitude is all wrong and he doesn't apply himself then he won't have a career and ultimately Rovers will let him go. Maybe he doesn't like Tomasson and they don't get on. Scott Wharton's form has gone right off as well so maybe both brothers have problems with the manager. Who knows? Either way, his parents should be telling him to knuckle down and work hard; otherwise we could have another David Bradford on our hands, another talent who never filled his potential

I found myself sitting next to Edun's family at the Coventry away match and had a chat with his dad (nice chap). He said Edun's favourite position is left midfield and that's where he's played most of his career including for the England age groups. Sadly, it doesn't look like he has a future at Rovers.
