I dont think we were on the front foot nor did we break with purpose. The goal was very much the exception in a game where we sat back in and very rarely got near their goal. We were certainly far more well organised and defensively strong today and the centre backs in particular were outstanding. Was a smash and grab away performance. I also am not having that Dolan is an "exceptional talent." No questions about his work rate or application, no doubts that we probably will end up with worse on our budget today, and not doubting that he will almost certainly get another Championship club when he leaves. But he is a very inconsistent player who has ability and works very hard but still frustrates more often than not. I think in an ideal world we would have him, Kargbo and 2 new signings next season. As it is, it will probably be Kargbo, Hedges and some random loanee.

Not felt as flat after a win for as long as I can remember. Feels totally worthless but still at least we won and showed good character to hang on. Going forward we played as if we had no game plan and barely mustered a shot on goal, one of the very few was put away expertly by Ohashi. Defensively much better, Hyam and Batth both outstanding and dealt with everything and Tronstad was much better too. Toth is an absolute bomb scare, constantly flapping and missing. Gueye coming on didnt help us at all, his body language was very poor losing the ball a few times and stropping. Harsh red card but Montgomery looks like a young midfielder playing at right back unfortunately. Luton are absysmal, how many times did they randomly slash the ball out of play? Bell hasnt improved either, very poor. They seem destined for League 1.

This has again been absolutely painful to watch. The standard from both teams in a supposedly good league is horrendous, youd find better quality games down at Pleasington. We are absolutely dire. No sign of any supposed game plan so a poor set of players is somehow made to look even worse than they actually are. No pressing, no pace, no skill, one solitary shot which was barely a half chance put into row Z.

When we dont sign "2 or 3 before pre season" it will be be patient FFS other teams havent signed anyone either. When it becomes clear we wont be spending much it will be well you can still sign quality on frees and loans. When we give sub par players an extra year it will be that they wont be playing every week but they can give good depth to the squad. Groundhog day.

Went into this season still needing "a new number 1." Failed specactularly with another no mark from abroad deemed to be even worse than calamity Pears. Still need a new keeper. Went into this season needing a striker who can score goals. Signed 2, one has 7 league goals, the other has 6. Neither get into most teams in the league. Still need one. Went into this season needing "pacy wingers" and also still need some of them. Also going into this summer needing a lorry load of signings with many of the squad either on loan, on short term deals soon to expire or going into the last year of their deals. If this season has been good recruitment then imagine what bad recruitment looks like.

You yourself have discussed the players that Eustace wanted but he was not allowed to bring in. Thomas Asante, Dembele etc. Im guessing the likes of Toth and Gueye werent his idea. Point being, he clearly wasnt happy with the recruitment or the way the club was run hence why he couldnt leave soon enough. And I am sure you will go on to say I didnt personally rate those individual players that much, especially Dembele. Irrelevant to the point I am making about the fact that a director of football structure can lead to disagreements which are much more likely at a dysfunctional club like ours. Recruitment has not worked for a number of years. The squad is full of loans and short term contracts and it will be another summer of trying to cobble together a new team on pennies. Having two different people in a director of football role has not improved anything here, its caused more problems if anything.

The transfer recruitment across the season has been poor. Doesnt mean that every player signed has been poor. But I think it says a lot that the 3 biggest successes are players that were brought in too boost the squad rather than the main areas we needed to strengthen. Both Batth and Weimann have been very useful members of the squad who we had to rely too much on and due to age, both of their bodies broke down and saw them miss big chunks of the season. The same happened with Beck who was brought in to add competition at left back. We needed a goalscorer in the summer. Ohashi has 7 goals and Gueye only 6 and you are calling for another striker in the summer. If you truly believed they were as good as you keep saying, you wouldnt think we needed another. I think we have a fair idea what this window will be like. We wont even have the crumbs of any sales to spend. We constantly get small budgets, why would we get £4-5m? We have a novice overseeing recruitment, why would we have a good window? Do you have faith that it will be one of good recruitment and a decent budget or are you just saying you dont know either way?

To be fair regarding King, we had 2 20 goal strikers ahead of him and when he did play, he underwhelmed bar those 2 cup games, and he was often injured. Not saying for one minute though that Bowyer was a good manager.
