  1. Fair play for finally upping the standards in terms of some cheap no marks not being up to it and demanding some money spent and making it clear that if not, we wont make the play offs. But we are not solely a striker away from being in the play offs. Not good enough out wide or in midfield, they need addressing too. Youve been very keen to stress that its all about this season but now you are showing concern for a lack of assets. Is it Elliott Jackson that has caused this sudden u-turn?
  2. Have you ever seen these players play?
  3. He scored against us but hes not a particularly good Championship player. Another plodder.
  4. St Johnstone fans would seemingly drive him down. Thankfully not the most reliable of sources!
  5. Amazing how context less emojis from anonymous twitter accounts get people so excited.
  6. Obviously quality is the thing you have to prioritise. Im just saying that timing still has some importance aswell. We have some other non performers in there who I would happily sacrifice if it meant getting what we need. And obviously its about what anyone does here.
  7. If we signed a random player in Serie B would you not be concerned considering you have echoed that Eustace wants Championship experience throughout this window that it clearly wouldnt be a Eustace signing? When you have such a limited budget and prioritise domestic experience then you are likely going to get someone who is sat on the bench and/or past his best. Bamford wont be coming here as his wages are extortionate. Players like Thomas Asante and maybe someone like Jacob Brown would also probably be beyond us but even if you got someone of that ilk, they arent natural goalscorers and struggle for game time at clubs lower down the table. Riis seems to be second choice to Osmajic and has struggled to score many goals since a serious injury and Robinson will be too important to Cardiff. If we go for a young lad on loan it is a bit depressing. Danns has barely played senior football. Scarlett has just been recalled having found it impossible to play at Oxford ahead of a striker who hasnt scored for ages, he would be bottom of the barrel. If we have even a couple of million, the choices are to go for someone like BTA/Brown (not necessarily those 2) who isnt going to score that many but is an upgrade on what we have and you know what you are getting. Or take a risk abroad where you do then have a chance of finding someone with a higher ceiling but also know theres a chance he could flop. So risk and reward. The first option is 3 on a dice, you could roll a 6 or a 1 if you think outside the box. If we go for a young lad on loan on top of a Serie B winger (who has struggled to replicate his Serie C) and/or fail to also get someone in to help to cover the Tronstad void, then we clearly arent serious and wont have the capability to be in the top 6 reckoning. It will all come down to money and it is hard to have any optimism that we will get what we need. Buy a striker, buy a winger, loan a midfielder and loan a left back should be the order of the day.
  8. If we lose at the weekend with our depleted squad, it would further highlight how its not just a case of getting the right players in. It would be 3 losses on the bounce.
  9. Have you seen much of Aasgard as you must have mentioned him 100 times? Theres no chance of this happening by the way.
  10. Parma are interested in him on a free.
  11. "I'm not aware of anything imminent or being on the table." The usual line again. Mentions wanting a left back as Pickering is out until March. No mention of a midfielder even though Tronstad is out until March so we are going to have to put up with sub standard midfielders in Buckley and especially Forshaw until then.
  12. When is Jed Wallace being announced?
  13. We were told that Forshaw was signed as an attempt to save resources for the attacking positions. If a player from Serie B who has not replicated his form in Serie C is the primary buy and we also dont bring in another midfielder then that would be a predictably sorry state.
  14. I doubt it is £1m+, and I cant see us signing 2 strikers. Bamford is a non starter due to his wage and the fact he is injured.
  15. The choice is on the owners and their willingness to provide a reasonable budget.
  16. It sort of does. Otherwise you could just sign literally anyone and say that. He might be a hidden gem, who knows.
  17. Elliott Jackson confirming talks with Kargbo. Clearly not what the manager wants having repeated that he wants Championship experience so @chaddyrovers you might struggle to say otherwise. Track record hardly says ready for a Championship play off push. All very underwhelming
  18. Also, they scored just after half time and it never felt possible that we would get back into it.
  19. Not a clue. Its very difficult to pick a team, and hard to see anything but a home win.
  20. Its flawed logic to say well Szmodics and Brereton started scoring as if you can sign anyone and it might happen. They are the exceptions to the the rule. And even then, Brereton was very young when we signed him and it took years for him to do that and Szmodics whilst he had never scored anywhere near as much as he did had seasons where he had scored quite a lot albeit in League 1. Obviously you dont know how many goals any signings might score, one who rarely has in the past might score loads and one who had scored lots might be rubbish in a Rovers shirt. I know yeah. I am saying that there has been a lot of talk in this window about Championship experience. I am saying that if you limit yourself then its a smaller pool and a more congested market.
  21. What a frightening team. Cantwell and Weimann as central midfielders. Hedges and ACD as wing back and Beck at centre back. And no goal threat despite essentially having 7 "attacking" players.
  22. Can you remember one thing Hedges did in attack of any use? As I have said. I am aware that squad players wont be of the same quality as first team players. I am saying that our squad players are not good enough even as squad players, when the likes of Buckley, Forshaw and Hedges come in, they are nowhere near good enough. When someone like Baker came in, he was a downgrade on Travis, thats normal otherwise he would be playing instead of him. But he was still a decent Championship player, it wasnt as if the quality fell off a cliff. I am not saying that our squad players should be as good. But they need to be good enough as to not significantly weaken the team when they come in. If its Buckley and/or Forshaw in the team for the next 6 weeks, we are significantly weakened.
  23. Ive never really subscribed to the idea that Championship experience is a must. If you limit yourself, especially on a limited budget, you are fishing in a limited pool with most other teams. Our wage budget will be lower than most so players currently on Championship wages will be a struggle to afford. And the ones available (aside from kids on loan or punts from the lower leagues) will likely be ones that have been sitting on a bench not good enough to play for their current side. You look at someone like Thomas Asante who is now likely beyond us, its perhaps a safer bet but you know barring an unlikely sudden improvement that hes not going to be prolific. Or you look at players like Wallace, Bamford, Schlupp etc, once very good at this level but past their peak and on the wane. If you have some imagination and some competence in terms of finding the right players further afield, and we dont. Then you have the potential to find someone in a less crowded market who of course could fail but equally could be at a lower price with a higher reward. That being said, this Kargbo seems to have struggled with the step up from Serie C to Serie B and has had a very nomadic career at the age of 25.
  24. Deckchairs on the titanic, it doesnt make much difference when those pricks are our owners.
