  1. Too early to know if the new set up is "proper" but that is beside the point that our owners allow "time and patience." History shows a mixture of managers given far too long or given barely any time at all. @Tyrone Shoelaces is bang on regarding the owners. No matter how competent Broughton and Tomasson turn out to be, with the owners overruling on decisions they will continue to have any impact limited by the negligence of the owners.
  2. It is always busier on here when the transfer window is open.
  3. Strange side again. Hedges at right wing back over a right wing back he at least oversaw the signing of. Szmodics again over Dack, presumably as a false 9? Morton over Adam Wharton?
  4. If the point is that Boro have had success from appointing first time managers, then we will ignore Robson's relegation with a very expensively assembled side, Woodgate overseeing a dramatic slide down the table and Southgate taking Boro down.
  5. Thank god we give managers "time and patience" at our well run football club. Steve Kean will testify like that, he had a job until he quit years after the protests started. And Mowbray, allowing things to go nice and stagnant before an unnecessarily sour departure. Bowyer was given too long too. And Berg and Appleton who got plenty of time and patienc...oh wait.
  6. Whilst I am not saying that a continuation of the borefests of recent weeks would cause a reduction in interest, surely a more reasonable conclusion to the above would be the closure of the transfer window?
  7. I don't think that there is any chance of him being sacked even if we decline due to our terrible owners. But every manager says the same stuff, ultimately he should have to prove that a plan is coming together as we go to continue with it.
  8. Why? Makes no sense that the only definition of backing him is giving him almost 2 years as a clean slate without judgement.
  9. The standard of the Championship is being displayed tonight in QPR v Reading. 3rd v 4th and absolutely shocking.
  10. Yet when a manager is new, those same lines are refreshing to many whereas after a while people get fed up and critically analyse every word looking for hidden meanings!
  11. If that guess is true then it would be a baffling decision to see Dack miss out to a number of inferior players. My point was one of surprise that you only described the window as "decent" based on the opinions you have previously stated and repeated here. Surely based on that analysis, a more suitable description on your part would be "incredible" or "outstanding" and at least 9 out of 10. Maybe the players aren't capable of playing quick, passing football, that isnt what you grasp, instead patronising people into thinking that they "dont understand." Ayala, Travis, Gallagher, Brereton, Dolan, even Hyam, Szmodics and Hirst, are any of them technically stand out at this level? Some are very good at this level at other things but the question is, does our squad suit such a style? Patience implies that it definitely will happen in time.
  12. How can a "manager" with 2 or 3 games as a caretaker fit a mould of manager?
  13. All managers regurgitate the same spiel in press conferences, I am unsure if it is the modern day, social media driven culture but people seem to pick apart and analyse them more often than ever before. It is in a managers best interests to say whatever he can to try and request more time in employment. There is validity in saying that a "plan" wont come together so quickly but the ones that get to see their contracts through on merit should be the ones that display consistent signs of progression of that plan.
  14. No one has suggested that they expect instant success, its a myth portrayed by some to make anyone displaying any doubts/worries to be irrational. I think that the main cause of the worries is the clear attempted change to a dull, slow passing style from the back that many would argue doesn't suit the players and hasn't worked in the past.
  15. I hope that I am wrong but I can see this being another borefest. One team playing slow, ineffective football across the back line against another who will come and sit in, I will say nil nil. Also @chaddyrovers you describe the window as only "decent." You were over the moon when Brittain signed, have praised Hyam, have repeatedly put Szmodics and Hirst in your predicted teams and defended them, have echoed the comments from inside the club about the Morton signing, have repeatedly defended the decision to reject bids for Brereton, have applauded the contract renewals. Mola aside who has barely been given a mention, how on earth is the conclusion of all of that praise merely "decent?!"
  16. I was there and wasn't impressed by Morton. Would I be right in thinking that you are very happy with the signing and the choice made only to loan Morton into central midfield with your opinion exactly matching Broughton's methodology?
  17. Tomasson said amongst his usual cliches and management talk that Mola and Adam Wharton will be in the squad tomorrow, interesting to see who drops out.
  18. The amounts may underwhelm but they are more valuable than one season of Brereton, yes. Morton wasnt that good at Blackpool, he played a suicidal pass near the end that nearly led to a goal. The rationale given by Broughton isn't reasoning that I agree with. Not only is Morton not experienced but he hasnt looked particularly good.
  19. I am quite open minded towards loans in general as I am totally against the idea of writing seasons off as transitional. If a loanee is better than one of our own players then he should play. That being said, we were particularly in need of experience in midfield I felt and I dont rate him from when he has played to be honest.
  20. Have these hours never gone into recruitment in the past?
  21. Its not as simple as saying "end of." If the focus is on years 2 and 3 of Tomasson's reign, which as I have explained previously is illogical considering the nature of the Championship, then I didn't feel as if the choice to essentially loan Brereton for close to if not an 8 figure fee for that transitional season was not aligned with that thinking. Nor were loan deals in particular the one with no option to buy in Morton's case. I get that we would have liked more for Brereton ideally of course but we still turned down a hell of a lot of money (and for those who turn to it at every corner, a lot of FFP room to manouevre) for him to stay for one further season. He explained his thinking on Morton but I didn't agree with the decision before or after he said it to only loan in a kid in midfield, that isn't IMO what we needed and he has yet to impress. You seem to have fallen into the trap again of thinking that if someone at the club says the reason behind a decision or decisions made, then they must be the correct ones based on that reasoning.
  22. Just to clarify, Broughton coming out and explaining his reasoning doesn't invalidate or change my opinion. We have essentially paid 10 million to loan a goalscorer in a "transitional" season. But going onto Tyler Morton, why loan him if it is a transitional season? The idea of a transitional season at Championship level especially with the reliance on loans throughout the league and the high player turnover is foolish anyway and its just regular management speak. Also, you was expecting 10 changes to the playing staff? You spent all summer repeating that we only needed 6. I think there was a video when he was appointed where he said that it is pronounced "Yon Dale" IIRC.
  23. "Rovers recruitment department would have done better and more research, scouting, etc than you." I guess that there is no point in ever commenting on our opinions of players and signings again. Rovers have done more work on them and presumably as a result all will be successful.
  24. Seems hypocritical to dismiss people who doubt him due to a lack of game time, only to then praise the player based on that same limited game time, although throwing in watching youtube compilations of his best bits which surely only further distort opinion. Would make more sense to be either of the opinion that all players should not be judged until x, including the more successful signings, or alternatively allow both, not picking and choosing which approach based on what makes the players look better.
  25. If this season is just a transitional season then why are we making any short term focused decisons, such as keeping Brereton and loaning players in? There has to be positive evidence that the transition is ongoing to warrant that second year. I personally think the target should be to beat 8th but there would be scope for keeping Tomasson potentially even with a lower finish than that if there was a suggestion on the pitch that a plan was coming together. It shouldnt just be a write off that this season is for adjustment because we need to be able to believe that a plan is coming together.
