  1. Fully agree - pace for a full back is a prerequisite. For centre backs not quite as key, look at the great Bobby Moore, the first couple of yards were in the head. All four were terrific. If Mike Harrison had had Fergies' heart and aggression, he would have been a world beater - football wise he had the lot and possibly the best penalty taker I have EVER seen. Absolutely - think Brittain is a poor, cowardly defender, a total wuss who you wouldn't want in the trenches with you. The mind boggles on coaching and how they don't address a player's weakness. When I played we used to have 'red sock' sessions where you wore a red sock on your 'weak' leg and then we'd have 15 minute 5 a sides where you were only allowed to use your weak 'red sock' leg. They were rapid and intense where you saw plenty of the ball and it didn't half help.
  2. This window might just end up better than anyone of us thought. Definitely need, on top of Nixon's 4, at least 1 CM and ideally another winger and striker (where Germaine would be very useful and get Siggy out the door). If that little lot happens snd the new boys all hit their straps, one can dare to dream of a top 6 finish.
  3. If the Daily Record article of Pune sign-off for Cantwell required then it really does show how dysfunctional the club is. If Cantwell is seen as a 'marquee' signing then surely you agree with Pune first the parameters of the deal before sitting down with Cantwell and if negotiations are within those parameters then you are home and dry, if not, waste no further time and move on.
  4. Indeed - consumption for the guillible!
  5. We should have closed the deal BEFORE Marseille were even on the scene. Think it's fair to say we p1ssed about once again. Snooze and you lose!
  6. Indeed - your similar scribblings give the game away!
  7. If Cantwell doesn't have medical today then signing not happening. With only 2 days left of window, you process the signings as quickly as possible not only to keep the decks clear for the next one but to stop any possible hijacking of player.
  8. So it's almost certain we will have no new number 1 goalie who is ready to play. Pears will play and I think the odds have now swung even more favourably their way.
  9. Perhaps Cantwell thinks Blackburn is a London suburb. He'll be sure to be disappointed when he learns Cavendish/Peppermint Place and Manhattan Heights are no longer standing!
  10. There are two airports in the NW with Manchester taking flights from all over the world and there are shuttle flights from London to Manchester!
  11. Does seem a strange one when presumably he's Glasgow based at the moment.
  12. You would think Cantwell would be signed only upon completion of a medical. @Scoobydoposted he was meeting Waggott and Wright this afternoon so hardly think a medical has been done and dusted so quickly.
  13. If this had actually happened we would know all about it!!!
  14. 60 hours to bring in the 5 or 6 quality additions needed - not happening.
  15. They have a terrific stadium (30k+) and average circa 25k. Who wouldn't want to go there if your only other option is Rovers. It would be a clean start for the lad in completely pastures new and he would be bonkers to turn it down.
  16. Really? If managers make so many right 'professional calls' why are so many sacked for poor signings and results!? Ask United fans if they thought Ten Hag made the right 'professional call' when signing Antony from his old club for a ridiculous £90million after working with him for 2 or 3 seasons! I'd back Ten Hag's judgement and ability (given the number of trophy's won as a manager) over Eustace every day of the week. So even the best managers don't necessarily make the right 'professional calls' let alone the relative novices like Eustace. Right?
  17. Ryo - as much as you or anyone else on this MB has seen as with Gueye and Ohashi before they were signed. It's all opinion but think Dembele might be well left alone - we do not need players with attitude problems who throw toys out the pram if something just doesn't suit.
  18. Completely disagree with you. Think @unleadedis right. From what I've seen with Ryo, would give us flexibility across the front line, naturally left footed, good in the air, can finish and can hold the ball up. Just wtf is there not to like for a player who would cost relative buttons in fee and wages. Madness to pass up on an opportunity like this. As for your comment "nobody had ever heard of until we were linked in August", who had heard of either Gueye or Ohashi!?!?!?
  19. Couldn't give a monkey's about Toth being in the Hungariaan National team squad - Leo had gone one better and was a full international and we know all about Leo!!! Watched the You Tube highlights someone posted and the one thing that stood out to me was how clueless he was on crosses - this signing will be another Leo and leave us with 2 clowns vying for the goalie spot. From what I've seen with Ryo, would give us flexibility across the front line, naturally left footed, good in the air, can finish and can hold the ball up. Just wtf is there not to like for a player who would cost relative buttons in fee and wages. Madness to pass up on an opportunity like this.
  20. We need the following, all 'oven ready', to improve our dire first 11 - make no mistake, last night showed how poor we really are: Goalie, right back, centre back, left back, midfielder with creativity, another striker and two wingers who can really drive with the ball. We are alarmingly thin on both numbers and quality and as things stand, we are going down.
  21. Not a clue why you would be a 'big fan of Dolan'. IMO, he thinks he's a big time Charlie and he has little ability with very little end product in terms of either goals or assists. To give him a 4 year deal would be idiocy - I remember you posting you wanted Mowbray on a 5 year deal and not too long after thought we needed a change!!! Think Dolan has bee p1ssing Rovers about too long over his contract and he needs pushing through the exit door whilst we can at least get something for him
  22. Dolan doesn't need competition, he simply needs to be out the club. Always looks busy but achieves very, very little. Will come nowhere, nowhere near replacing Szmodics.
