Utter rubbish. Options - go to pub, turn tv off or keep watching and open a red to numb the pain! -

We are getting bullied. Madness not to start with Gueye. We badly need a big physical presence. -

Pears treating ball like a bar of soap! Could cost us tonight. -
I agree - my comments were really directed at Potter's response to being questioned about potential opportunities with United and other clubs
-
Listening to Potter on MNF, very clever and diplomatic. Would bet the house on there being ongoing dialogue between him and United. Think it's a toss up between Howe and Potter for the job. Mckenna needs another season or so in the PL whilst Tuchel, IMO, bottled it in the summer
-
Coyle - that comment is incredibly childish Chaddy. I've met the guy on a number of occasions and despite his disastrous spell at Rovers he is good company as is Nicko who you revere. Southgate - the players loved him because, I would suggest, he was a pushover. Charity Shield - come off it, a non event. By the way, I was there in both 1994 and 1995 (where were you in 1995!?!?). Mckenna is a woderful up and coming manager - may well be the next big thing. I would trust his judgement over yours! Finally, stuck £20 on Eddie Howe to be next United manager at 50/1!
-
You simply don't get it - the mention of Coyle is to underline the paucity of Hag's management! Southgate would not be a good option. Negative, boring football. United fans just do not want him. RVN won the Dutch 'Charity Shield' and FA Cup - you are not seriously classing the Charity Shield as a trophy! Hag won trophies in Dutch football as also did McLaren - enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Delap has made the step up to the PL and his form this season, not just yesterday, has been very good indicating he will be a great success. I think you will find him in the full England squad before the season is out. You said he was shite during the summer transfer window and it seems your judgement is as bad as Mowbray's who seemingly rejected an offer from City to take Delap on loan in Mowbray's last January transfer window with Rovers!
-
When we were all debating what the fee for SS should be, @chaddyroversproclaimed 'Delap is shite and Ipswich are paying £20million for him'...................Looks some player to me and looks a snip at that price especially when Spurs paid £65million for Solanke! What are RVN's managerial / coaching credentials to take over a club like United - absolutely none, would be a disaster. Southgate - you are having a larf. Would be the most underwhelming and unpopular appointment United could make. Arguably, had the best crop of England players in the last 50 years or so and blew it! for me, would be either McKenna or Tuchel. So what? No identity and over £600million spunked up the wall. With Arsenal, Spurs you can see progression and even Liverpool and Chelsea with new managers have a clear progressive identity. United are just one big mess after over 2 seasons with their 'Dutch master'. Owen Coyle would do a better job and that's saying something.

As others have posted, only debate is around the offensive four. Given Coventry's poor start, we need a fast, positive start and for that reason, I would start Cantwell and when he tires he can be withdrawn with Rovers, hopefully, in the ascendancy and a goal or two to the good. Would also start Gueye for his physical presence and menace and look for the others to capitalise. My offensive four: Weimann, Cantwell, Dolan / Gueye. Gut feeling is it will be a draw to keep our unbeaten run going. -
Even acknowledging we were up against 10 men in 2nd half, Cantwell was the catalyst for the transformation - he was a joy to watch with his vision, technique and passing ability. The lad is going to be a big player for us. Travis needs to be more selective in his aggression, carries on like this and he will soon be banned for 3 matches. Beginning to wonder about Gueye!? Some question marks against a number of players today, however, a win, a clean sheet and unbeaten after 7 and hopefully, onwards and upwards! Confidence and momentum everything in this league and can take you a long, long way.
-
Absolutely dire. Has to make changes. Inspiration and creativity needed Need ACD, Cantwell and Gueye on.
-
Our set pieces are so awful
-
Aye, that's the man.
-
Not me who's the Whiteman fan. It's another poster who's mates with the family
-
Baker and Dolan are shite and need hooking. Time for Gueye and Weimann
-
Eustace needs to change this quickly.
-
Poor start from Rovers. Preston look like a Heckingbottom team already. Bowler looks tasty - we should have had him. Badly need Gueye on. What's the purpose of Baker? Need Weimann's guile.
-
Mainly through family, I've a few connections with PNE and despite the usual pre match bravado, I sense they are bricking it. Their midweek cup match wont have helped and Keane is also out. Don't know where their goals will come from and I just can't see them being able to handle our offensive play. Rovers' win at 7/4 is a terrific bet.

Three matches at Deepdale stick in the memory with a few thankfully erased following woeful performances. The first one was shortly after we'd been relegated from the old 1st Division (now PL) and we went there and thumped them 5-3 (might even have been 'bonfire night). Pretty sure 'give us a goal Barrie Hole' netted at least one. We had Blacklaw in goal and familiar players involved at that time included class personified Newton, Billy Wilson, the man for all seasons Fergie, the mercurial Rogers and the powerhouse of a winger Harrison (Clayton and Douglas were still about but time was catching up with them). It was like a war zone on Preston's Kop that day with at least a dozen fans covered in blood passing me by in front of the West Stand Paddock. The second one was in Howard Kendall's 2nd season when we could only manage a 0-0 draw towards the end of the season and a win there would have meant back to back promotions and that would have been a miracle given what little resource Kendall had to work with. The sitter Marshall Burke missed at the Town End in the 2nd half still haunts me. The third one was the memorable occasion when Souey's team secured promotion back to the PL in 2001 led by the indomitable Flitcroft - wow the offensive talent in that team, Dunn, Duff, Jansen, Berkovic etc. It was particularly poignant given Jack's very sad passing just months earlier.
-
Won't be easy. Derby games can be so unpredictable and there are signs Heckingbottom is getting a bit more structure and organisation into their game. Beck MUST play ahead of Pickering - as a full back, he's way ahead of Pickering in all facets of the game. Big question is what Eustace does up front. Gueye would be terrific in a game like this. Can he accommodate both Gueye and Ohashi? Would be harsh in the extreme to leave out Ohashi who was signed to score goals and has delivered in style. Confident we will have too much for PNE and we will run out winners by a couple of goals.

Football is a simple game with too many, including some posters on here, getting hung-up with sexy tactics and notions in the fanciful belief they can replicate Pep. The bottom line is JRC's best performances for Rovers have come when he has played as a conventional right back and been able to get into the opponent's box 'under the radar'. It's my belief that is his best role and he should be played there instead of the, IMO, cowardly bag of wind Brittain. Simple as. -
Like you, not my cup of tea and if truth be told I couldn't wait for the bloody thing to end when I sat through it! As for Burnley, I honestly think Parker has done a cracking job there so far. I was talking to both a Burnley 'diehard' (who follows them home and away) and an ex Burnley player last night and both admitted they faced the season with some trepidation but are now very confident they will finish first or second. TBH, I don't disagree.
