If the rumoured fees are to be believed - not certain it has been cheap. Totally agree on the gamble bit though - Gestede and VI (and our season) will hinge on whether these gambles pay off or not - as there isn't enough experience in what remains of last year's team to keep us out of trouble if they don't at least partially pay off.

Agree and as much as pears started strong last year he's too unreliable for me. Silly mistakes, head in hands clearances, certainly had us peeping through our fingers at times.

Expect a forward and centre midfielder in. Don't expect loans in. Think Pears contract will be terminate before the deadline. More direct football in lge 1 more physical stuff in the box so he'd need a very good defence in front of him. Everything else i agree he should be fine though i'd never rate him as good in the Champ he's bang average but a good number 2. If he stays he should be put back on the bench it makes no sense having a rookie on there whilst paying Pears probably 5 times as much for nothing. As others have said if he goes and we find ourselves in a relegation scrap with only the rookie as cover it's one of the stupidest things that's gone on at this club and that really is saying something.

When we did get £15m to spend on the 3 strikers, the squad we had before was one that had dropped into League 1, having been totally wiped out in the summer leading to relegation. So even that money wasnt enough to build that to a squad to get us promoted. But had Tomasson been given reasonable money on top of that, and had Venkys not repeatedly denied us the chance of selling and reinvesting, then the platform was there. But Venkys didnt seem arsed about pushing on, quite the opposite.

Im not sure hes a good Championship keeper. But hes reasonable back up. Ismael seems to be cutting his nose off to spite his face.
