  1. Past hour
  2. She does have a right to have her say but saying Iโ€™m glad weโ€™re out doesnโ€™t really say much. Why are you glad your out?
  3. Then have your say - don't put out cryptic "glad we're both out of there ๐Ÿคช" posts on socials. That stuff happens in every walk of life and in every walk of life people move on for other jobs - as Brittain et al have done. A select handful have called then snakes, but then a select handful emailed the GM of the Miami Dolphins and wished his daughter died of cancer - so, y'know, there's nutters everywhere.
  4. Amorim's post match interview sounded like a man who has given up all hope. Implied the players weren't playing for him. Personally think it's nonsense when a manager at that level is tied to one system and can't adapt.
  5. Well, I don't know about bitter but footballers and greed go together like cheese and pickle. I don't know if we'll ever get the full Trav story BUT if he did refuse to train and play then that was bang out of order. He was under contract and being paid sums most of us can only dream of. He might have been pissed a new contract offer either wasn't forthcoming or wasn't very good but it works both ways. Like loads of other footballers he can then choose to run his contact down and leave on a free. All the power is with the players these days as far as I'm concerned.
  6. Itโ€™s wasnโ€™t contextualised it was downplayed a start for me is your first win - does the 3 points away to hull not count?
  7. I've said it previously, but I certainly wouldn't be commenting on it publicly, nor would I encourage any friend or colleague to do so. I've been in companies with toxic cultures, with CEOs with God complexes, and been there during mass layoffs and when people have been forced out. It's not pleasant, but my advice has always been the same - keep your head down, keep your mouth shut, negotiate your best exit, and make yourself look professional throughout. If I were now considering a client and saw that they were publicly criticising a former employer? It would be a non-starter for me. I don't care if they were right; I'd want nothing to do with them. If anything, football isn't enough of a business because you'd be making yourself unhirable in most industries with this type of behaviour.
  8. The downgrade argument is a bit ridiculous at this stage. Need at least 10 games to even entertain making that call. Of course the players brought in MIGHT turn out to be, but people are talking with absolute certainty about players they either haven't seen play or have seen a couple of times. Mcloughlin a slight exception but he's done pretty well up to now (better than the bloke he replaced at Derby). I'll admit I'm concerned about DeNeve but can't completely write him off, yet. Miller/Alebiosu have the biggest boots to fill as Brittain set a very high bar. Travis, time will tell on that one. Didn't want him to leave but there wasn't a huge queue waiting to sign him. Pretty much universally liked by our fans due to his length of service and work ethic. The thing we will miss most though is his shit housery, not sure any of the new signings bring that? Dolan divides opinion. Again would have liked him to stay but nobody can argue he was remarkably inconsistent and he doesn't leave a 20 goal void that can't potentially be filled. Weimann, happy for him to move on. He did a job but was creaking and will spend a fair chunk of this season sidelined, already getting stick from Derby fans. Batth as it stands you would label McLoughlin a slight upgrade but it's very early days. Buckley and JRC, sorry but neither will be missed. I wouldn't describe the window as exciting, but I'd rather have unknown gambles than guarantees plodders like Woodrow!
  9. More like โ€œare you Rovers in disguiseโ€ aimed at the collective Derby lineup?
  10. The Liaison officer has embarrassed herself with that stupid message on social media. Like a bitter girlfriend who got dumped. Im sure she was paid well to be really nice to them.
  11. Contextualising a result isn't downplaying it. They were horrible and apparently had a virus running through their team that week. Beating Norwich would be a real start.
  12. I can only speak for myself. As others have said maybe the time is ripe for a new approach. I'm not naive and can see this is intrinsically linked to reducing the wage bill but irrespective of that I'm liking some of the the signings and the energy they give off. The performance against Hull was really promising. More performances like that and we'll win more than we lose. Some have countered by saying Hull were poor, maybe so, but you can only beat what's in front of you. It's ultimately all about results and RG and VI will live or die by theirs. It's nothing to do with a 'swing' towards them, not from my perspective anyway. This season could be chicken shit or chicken salad, let's see how we go. Finally, would I still like new owners? Absolutely!
  13. So, let's pretend this isn't football. You're being treated badly at work, you are a popular member of staff, made redundant and then (allegedly) replaced by someone close to a member of senior management. Not think they've a right to have their say? Or even, people not being paid what counterparts doing the same job at other firms are, seek parity with their peers, they get said parity only to be villainised. Football is a job to these guys.
  14. It is possible for people on both sides to be wrong. I'm certainly not defending the club and have strong opinions on the culture and people in senior leadership positions, but I also believe that certain players and (former) staff may be taking advantage of that situation. There were clearly people within the club and the team who were happy to sow seeds of discontent. They're not exactly hiding it. Regardless of what else is going on, that isn't good for the club. Not only that, when it comes to highly paid footballers, that's something that I just can't abide by. Look at how poorly the Sheffield Wednesday staff and players have been treated over the last few months. It's on a different level to even our fiascos, but you still had players rallying around, showing commitment to the club, and focusing on improving the situation. I can understand why players want to leave, and do. I can understand why staff feel mistreated. But you should have enough respect for this club not to be openly mocking the club in public. That's all I ask. It's not asking a lot. As I've said previously, what they're doing is foolish. It makes it seem like those in the leadership positions may have been right about them.
  15. Maybe stupidly but I'm fairly optimistic haha I know we've lost a lot of experience and ideally you'd spread that over 2/3 windows but the club won't lose players on a free anymore so if nothing else that is progress. I think it's far too early to judge any of the new signings individually. Id say the west brom game we deserved at least a point. Bradford was abysmal. Birmingham we played well, got caught with a sucker punch of a penalty. Usually we would then fold but instead were on the front foot and got caught on the break. It happens but I'd say thats progress. Saturday we really saw the potential of this squad. I don't care how good or bad Hull played. This is the championship the most unpredictable league in the world. We played as good as we ever did under jdt or Eustace. Id say Travis was the last remaining remnant of the mowbray era. A team that had promised a lot at times but never delivered. A team that never even made the play offs. Stagnent and just rinsing and repeating season after season. We can now spend the season concentrating on results instead of who's going to leave in the summer. Will they sign? Won't they sign? Everyone who wanted to leave has done. So good or bad these new players will be different, hopefully we can go on and play like Saturday because if nothing else it was exciting and entertaining. I definitely believe there are at least three worse teams than us and in this league everyone not battling relegation should have their sights on trying to make the play offs.
  16. They hit the jackpot with this fanbase
  17. Bogey side at Ewood and the ultimate blow hot one min blow cold the next min club. A much sterner test than last week and Brum. Rovers 1 Norwich 1
  18. The not going for the title in League 1 did it for me. Steady pair of hands up to that point but happy with being one of the also rans whilst cultivating a persona that he's a "good football man". Should have gone as soon as we were promoted.
  19. Iโ€™d exclude Dolan from that list he was never signing on here
  20. More waffle It doesn't change the fact I think we will progress, move forward and grow." There's so much self-inflicted pain. Our response to disappointment is so poor
  21. As can happen with performances sometimes but the were unbeaten had went to free scoring and promotion challenging Coventry and got a great draw away from home before scoring 4 themselves in their first home opener could they be awful down the line quite possibly but this early on downplaying a victory is weird
  22. If you genuinely believe the club is going into a good direction youโ€™re a fool, unless the venkys have all of a sudden decided to sell the club that is. It is more worrying theyโ€™re unable to tie down key players for me
  23. You're presuming there. 3 games into the season isn't enough of a sample size to decide if who has been brought in are downgrades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive enough to think cutting expenditure isn't a factor in player turnover either. Let's be honest though, how many players can you think of over the years have left and improved? Szmodics, Lennihan, Diaz, Armstrong, Rhodes, Gestede there's many others I've probably forgotten... All played their best football for us, then left and fallen off big time. Brittain and Travis won't play any better than they have for us. They move on, we move on. At least we move on with younger players with more potential.
  24. Honestly baffling, our fan base are so fickle it's laughable and sad.
  25. So, let me get this straight. It's now the fault of Brittain, Dolan, Travis and the former player liaison officer for being bitter, greedy, or whatever else and not those in charge who've been clueless since pretty much when they arrived, have a plan? This a parallel universe?
