If the manager believes 3 CBs is the best formation for us, why would he allow us to end up with only 4 CBs in the squad, two of whom are highly injury prone? -

It is one hell of a good argument, if the worst happens and we get relegated. All the other teams got stronger, as well as us but they got even stronger than us. It was a much stronger league overall and as we over achieved last season, it wasn't our fault that we under achieved this season and went down. Next. -

The wage budget has been cut. This isnโt any kind of alternative master plan. Itโs simply the only thing thatโs left open to Gestede and company. They have to let the higher earners go and just hope that somehow they can get around it. In other words theyโre all lieing to us all. Time for a few truths from the owners. If they were to say that they couldnโt continue funding the club at the previous levels then we would all have to accept it. We might not be happy with it but we would accept it. but then rightly, they would be urged to put the club up for sale. With a wage budget seemingly at the bottom end of this league the chances of success are virtually nil. It happens sometimes but it hasnโt happened here for 15 years. The teams with the highest wage bill tend to be the teams at the top of the league. Weโre on a downward trajectory with no signs of it changing. -
Konsa has to keep his place. Livramento looks the best left-back option. He's very good defensively and got a good engine. On the left I'd like Grealish but the pace of Gordon is a good foil for kane. I think the shirt is anderson's to lose now though I think Wharton could easily do a good job. The great thing is we have bags of options
-
I agree with your certain to start list, it's how to fill the rest that will cause no end of debate. In central defence Konsa is probably the favourite. He's always played well for England. Burn should be binned. Colwill won't be fit in time. Stones has been creaky but is a class act if fit. Chalobah? Another who Tuchel knows from his Chelsea days. Who else? Left back has options without any of them being at Ashley Cole's level. I'd prefer someone who is left footed so Hall, Lewis-Skelly, Tyrick Mitchell, and at a stretch Luke Shaw. Although he may not be a regular for a dodgy Man U team that plays a back 3. Everyone on this board wants Adam Wharton in central midfield but his injury record is hurting him. Anderson did well but is new. Henderson may get a squad spot but isn't suited to a holding position. Angel Gomes has disappeared started games under Carsley. Gibbs-White, Rogers, Curtis Jones play further forward. Left wing will be difficult. Rashford has so much talent but has had a wayward year or so. If he stars for Barcelona he has a shot. Grealish has a chance to be the man man at Everton. He's started well. Foden is probably on the outs. He is a bit of a John Barnes for England and has also had a disjointed 12 months. Eze will be playing champs league this year which will help him. Can Cole Palmer play there? As I'm writing I realised that Arsenal have Saka, Madueke, Eze, Nwaneri, and now the young lad Dowman (who by all accounts is a star in the making). All of them could play on either flank.

Something shit... -
yeah I tend to agree I think. In which case we'd probably set-up like this... Pickford James - ??? - Guehi - ??? Anderson or Wharton - Rice Saka - Bellingham - ??? Kane Wouldn't want a natural 10 shoe-horned onto the wing like you say, so probably Gordon / Madueke (although he's usually on the right) for that spot. Lewis-Skelly for LB and then either Stones / Konsa for CB depending on fitness and form. Hoping we don't see Henderson, Gallagher, Jones, Gomes in that CM spot now. Anderson had an impact, and Wharton is worth a few goes when fit. Those two can both play forward passes which the 'Rice foil' has always struggled to do historically.

You don't gain promotion magically you gain it by building strategically year on year and improving your weakest areas. Yes you'll lose the odd player but if the club is funded properly a lump goes straight back into some quality potential. Have a root and branch clear out at a club that has finished just outside the top 6 and WOULD have been in it with the right backing at the right time is beyond odd. It is only being done for financial and control purposes and anyone thinking any different and expecting some kind of revolution is not only kidding themselves but also swallowing the latest propaganda from people who are only here to line their pockets. History under Venkys shows exactly what will happen. -

No, we're a one contract club now. Sign a 3/4 year deal when joining and then sell 2/3 years into that deal. Rinse and repeat until the end of time. -

I thought my comment was fairly obviously slightly tongue in cheek. As for your second paragraph - agree that's fairly unlikely, the atmosphere around the Club isn't convivial enough for a civil conversation let alone that according to most accounts. -

Yep. Push on to "mid table" next season. One after that should be looking at "top half" One after that should be looking at being "in play off contention" At best nothing whatsoever will happen, and the protagonists sail off into the sunset with their pockets stuffed full of cash. Rip it up, start again on another "project" or "process" - rinse and repeat. -

The plan will be different next season. Unless something dramatically changes, Tronstad, Cantwell, Carter, Wharton etc will have to leave.
