I am one of few who think that Wolves should have kept O'Neil in the first place. Looking at where they are 12 months on from potting him seems like it was only putting off the inevitable. As has been pointed out selling the club's best players and replacing them with inferior replacements leads to trouble.

Rovers's January transfer needs
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
“ A lot of players play better in their position “ Really , colour me shocked. I should have taken my coaching badges then. Going back when you had to clear the dinosaur shit off the pitch before you could kick off the plan was always to find out the players strengths and weaknesses pre-season and design your system around them. Too many managers come into a club with pre-conceived ideas of how to play with predictable outcomes. It looks like Ismael got lucky, but for Cantwell’s injury it sounds like we would have been flogging away at his old system and going nowhere. Anyway I don’t see a problem, just play Cantwell in Henrikson’s place, simple. -

I believe they’re still looking for the ball from the one he put yards over the bar. He was pointing to where he wanted the pass to go, it was a perfect pass, and leathered it out of sight. -
Rovers's January transfer needs

It's very strange that things like that still get trotted out. Loads of Spanish teams have won European trophies or reached finals in recent times (and there isn't a sudden, huge drop off from those teams to ones that are Championship standard). Spain's two goalscorers in the Euros final play for teams currently in the bottom half, etc etc. You'll get loads of decent Championship players who go to a Premier League club, or get promoted to it, who are then in and out of the side but maybe look quite lively on occasion as Dolan has at times so far. It'll happen all the time. Doesn't mean the standard of the whole Premier League is poor. -

Rovers's January transfer needs
KentExile replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Confirmation from Ismael (if it was needed) that the summer recruitment & pre season was based on Rovers playing a back 4. Which logically would mean that January's recruitment needs at least 1 extra centre back, a right wing back to cover for Alebiosu, and a striker "I wouldn't say it was my system I wanted to play at the beginning of the season but you have to evolve with your player, with the feeling." -

As regards January, a lot will depend on whether we ever see Baradji and whether or not he's any good. If he becomes available and does OK I'd only really be desperate to add more firepower up front. Maybe a CB if Carter's injury woes continue. An injury to Gudjohnsen and we're left with two strikers who have only registered one goal between them this season. Two strikers needed imo if Gueye is sold. -

God - people still moaning about Dolan! Who then do you think then has been more effective for us - Dolan last season or Moreshita (who we spent £2m on) this? - Today

Oddly the Wolves fans aren't having the "knows the club" airtight reasoning. Instead they're aghast.

I'm hoping we dip into the Kazakhstani leagues because you never know....

The club will ship a load out in the summer and bring in a load from all over the place, so the whole midfield could well be different. It’s The Model©️ (the latest one).

New set piece coach - Possibly
RevidgeBlue replied to KentExile's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Im not against the appointment of a set piece coach per se but if the game in general is heading down the route of over-reliance on set plays and a return to the prehistoric tactic of hurling a long ball into the mixer then that's regression not progression in my book. What next? Stop fannying about passing the ball around at the back, and invariably giving it away, and get the keeper to launch it long in the general direction of two players up top? Now that's a back to the future change I wouldnt necessarily mind. On a similar note I went to an evening with Sam Allardyce event at Ewood after he was appointed and he reckoned if you could become the most successful team in the League at scoring from free kicks, that would put you tenth on its own. Dinosaur,or ironically now the way some trends are going, ahead of his time? -

On the Bristol match thread about the game: "In the last window they bought in Jalil Saadi, Dilan Markanday, Jake Garrett, Jack Vale, Sean McLoughlin, Ryan Alebiosu, Dion De Neve and Tavares." Anyone wanna tell them?
