What would a 1 or 2 out of 10 require the players to do? -

Our attackers didnt do anything. Your standards are so low. You speak as if we were away to a Premier League team. -

Your opinion is usually whatever you heard last from either Jackson, Ismael or an official club statement, so that fact he gave most of the team an 8 out of 10 is probably why you did as well. If those players are getting an 8 I would be terrified of what a 5 or a 4 is, presumably scoring several own goals or shitting themselves on the pitch like Lineker did. You don't seem arsed that we have managed 3 attempts on goal in 2 matches. You're talking about how we nullified Birmingham as if we were playing Liverpool. In the championship you're supposed to try and beat every opponent, especially if you're the home team. You're talking about us like we were a plucky lower league team going away from home against a big club. We should have been creating chances to score goals, we were not doing that, so how can it be a good performance? -

But the players you list there, except Cantwell, are defenders. I don't think anyone would suggest it wasn't a good defensive performance (apart from the very, very poor errors in the last 10 mins or so). But in terms of attacking play, chance creation, and goals, we look a very poor team and it was another unimpressive performance, in that regard. That has to be a concern for everyone, as should three goals on target in two games. It isn't just a stat for which no monkeys should be flown. It is a basic, important, and meaningful indicator of where the team's definicies lie. Unfortunately it won't resonate with our owners so I guess it doesn't matter, but any supporter unconcerned about this major flaw in the team must be facing the pitch but not really seeing. -

If we’d have won it 1-0 I’d have said foot solid performance the kind which we are going to have to put in as we won’t score a lot of goals. Defensively and shape-wise we were solid. The problem is we got undone due to lack of quality / depth, which is something we are going to have to get used to because some of these lads are going to struggle at this level. As I said earlier, Travis is first choice midfield. If we are to ‘replace him’ as Val said, then it needs to be someone who is also first choice starter. That’s replacing him. Not ending up with another backup squad player. -

Agreed once the injuries start to hit in Nov/Dec we really will be screwed, if you take some of the players who are more probable bets for a few weeks of treatment out of contention for the 11, it then is one dross team -

1st half, we stopped them playing and creating chances. If you watch them against Ipswich, they had chances after chances. We never let that happened. Until the penalty incident, Birmingham created nothing of noted. Gray, Anderson, Stansfield and Kyogo did nothing all game. Our defending for the penalty incident is very poor and no way should he get in there. Of course that was good performance, well drilled, organised and playing to plan. Birmingham created nothing all game until Laird got the penalty. Even then we were pushing for the winner, Birmingham wasn't until that poor corner and how we defended it. On Cantwell, I thought that was good performance from him. Elliott Jackson and Rovers had his the player of the match and Elliott Jackson gave him a 8. Same as I did on here. Hyam, McLoughlin and Alebiosu were also very good. I couldn't give a flying monkeys what a neutral, stats don't tell you how the game went and what happened during the game. I think anyone who didn't think that was good performance and players playing to plan is bonkers and their seat must not be facing the pitch -

Not much to get excited about these days. We might grind out some results but it's not going to be pretty, and all over a side full of average joe's. Poor substitutions. -

This. If we had lost at Albion last week and at home to Birmingham today but we had been regularly testing their keeper, hitting the woodwork, carving out chances, all that good stuff, then you hold your hands up and accept that's football and that anything can happen. The reason we didn't put in those type of performances, rather than what we have actually offered up so far, is why everyone is so pissed off. Our squad is cheap, cheerful, thin, inexperienced at this level and in some parts clearly unhappy at off the pitch issues. Recipe for disaster. -

It was never in doubt how good he is at pressing and helping out his full back, it’s just that he’s near useless once we go behind. -

Elliott Jackson gave 6 of our starting 11 an 8 out of 10 mark. Only Tavares failed to get above "par" and he played major roles in the concession of both goals. Talk about low standards. -

So, overall the real kick in the teeth is the manner of the defeat, not the fact of it. Brum are most people's choice for a top 8 spot, whereas we're predicted to struggle or at best be mid table; in that context, losing to them is no disgrace. First half was a non event really; they bossed possession but only really created a couple of half chances. We looked to hit on the break & Cantwell spurned a glorious chance to put Kargbo clean through. 0-0 was fair, neither keeper was really troubled. 2nd half we started well, looked livelier & faster in the press & turned the ball over well. Cantwell scored a great volley. That proved to be the high point, as so often is the case. They built up a head of steam, but again didn't really create much. We missed a great chance you go 2 up when Kargbo crossed for Hyam who somehow headed it back across goal when it looked easier to aim for goal, & the chance went begging. They continued to press, they made some changes & we responded. Their player thdn somehow got passed 3 of ours, went down & got a pen straight away, which was put away v confidently tbf. Then the 11 minutes came up. After that I though we were excellent, really pushed for the winner. Gueye made a great header but was denied by an equally good save, we thdn continued to put pressure on with some long throws, free kicks & a couple of corners, & they were scrambling to keep us out. However 1 corner proved our downfall. We naively went too gung ho & left ourselves exposed. The corner was poor & suddenly they broke on 5 to 1. Tbf I thought we'd survived it, but thdn a missed tackle saw the ball fall to Dykes & he got in a shot that trickled across goal & into the corner. Gutted is not the word. We should never have been in that position. We lost shape through the subs, albeit were unlucky as most were enforced through injury. But we also lost discipline & positioning & both their goals were gifts really (again). Was their penalty fair? I thought at the time it was inevitable he'd go down with 3 players around him, but maybe I was wrong in that given some comments on here from others on here. What wasn't fair was other decisions the ref gave. Ohashi was fouled countless times in the first half but got nothing for it other than a talking to from the ref for trying to stick up for himself. At 1-0 they got a free kick, ref told the player not to take it from where he'd placed the ball, but he did anyway and lumped it 60 yards, only for the ref yo pull it back. But no yellow card for kicking the ball away??? But my main gripe is the non penalty at 1-1. It was quite innocuous really but their defender clearly played the ball with his arm as it dropped from height. It was clear as day, but nothing given other than the corner that ultimately led to their 2nd goal. Imo that's now 3 penalties not given in 3 games this season. Yet the ref couldn't give theirs quick enough (in front of their fans of course). It's certainly something to give pause for thought. Game management was poor today, & I don't think the subs were at all right. Hopefully this shows what further work needs doing before the window closes. I'm not going to go too OTT about today, or about losing our two opening league games as it's a tough schedule. But VI & the players really need to learn from today, as do Gestede & Pasha about signing some players with guile, creativity & a proper eye for goal. I won't hold my breath. -

I'm so angry at everything that is going on at the club. The performances in all three matches so far this season have been unacceptable IMO. Some people very carried away with pre season results. These three matches have not passed the eye test. I will not get on the players backs at the matches, I don't boo or jeer them. I do not think there is a lack of effort, there is a lack of organisation and actual ability in the squad and a general rot setting in throughout the club. We're level on points at the moment with the two Sheffield clubs. I wonder which one we'll be closer to by Xmas, Easter and May. -
