  2. “Well Mr Vader…about this 2038 bid…can you categorically confirm that Alderaan will NOT be destroyed if they were to knock you out in the last 16..?” ”Well…it shouldn’t come into play…” ”Oh…OK…in that case…Death Star 2038 it is…congratulations…”
  3. I'm thrilled he's representing Nigeria at the AFCON. Yes, it leaves us in a pickle, but any well‑run team prepares for situations like this. Instead, we've been underprepared, just as we have been for pretty much every scenario thrown at us this season. I don't blame him at all; I'm delighted for him because the call‑up is thoroughly deserved. My disappointment is with the club for not being ready. What concerns me most is that as soon as rumours of a call‑up started a month ago, we should have been knocking on his door with a new, improved contract. We didn’t act, and now he'll return from AFCON as a full international (maybe even a winner) and will quite rightly expect far more than whatever we eventually offer. To me, it's yet another example of the club acting too late, or not acting at all.
  4. Its Friday, and still we await a response from those in charge to the Coalition letter....
  5. I suppose the answer to that question (in terms of how many break through) will at least partially be determined by what division Rovers are in in 2-4 years when some of these players break through
  6. Today
  7. Thanks for that, knew I'd left a few out! It does look like a good group and even if only a few of those progress to the first team it would be a proud moment for the academy

  9. Back then at least the regime had some semblance of normality. I.e crap manager they get sacked and replaced with a safe pair of hands (obviously an actual normal one wouldn’t have appointed the clown in the first place and at the very least sacked him earlier). Now? This fella is here for the duration, if that ends in League 1, ah well 🤷‍♂️.
  10. Ignoring Tyjon as he is likely off Atcheson, Michalski, Edmondson, Ball, Leatherbarrow, McCoy would all be in the mix. Doherty always looks useful to me wide (at U21 level at least) Lister, based on the clips doing the rounds (see 2 posts up), has tremendous technique, but is not someone I have seen a lot of But so much more than just ability to take into account
  11. I'm sure FIFA will say its spread the game around the world and no other countries even bid for 2034 world cup. I wouldn't have gone to Saudi for footballing reasons. I would have held solely in South America given its the 100 years anniversary in 2030, then Europe(UK or Spain/Portugal/Morocco) for 2034. Then in 2038, I would look at Japan/South Korea or Australia/Indonesia/Singapore host. A Saudi world cup 2034 is likely to winter one again and wreck the footballing schedule again Didn't people say similar things about Qatar? Did they stop these people attending?
  12. Ha! Had a couple of bevvies.... I don't get out much these days...
  13. I swear there's a sentence in there somewhere if I rearrange the words.
  14. Yesterday
  15. If we don't get 4 points from the next 4 games VI will have a worse record from the same number of games as Owen Coyle... Currently on 33 games, 10 wins and 7 draws. Coyle had 37 games, 11 wins and 8 draws.
  16. Also what are the football reasons for it being in Saudi?
  17. To add to this: If you look at the position we finished in during the 80s were were generally in the top six. There were only three seasons where we didn't and one of those years we won a trophy. Playoffs were only introduced in 87 I think and we were in the mix on more than one occasion. We always ended up falling short due to lack of funds but we were always up there challenging to get into the top flight. This notion that we only got into the top division is because of Jack Walker is just some bullshit spread by jealous dingles and southern media who couldn't stand the fact that a small working class northern town was challenging the big city clubs. We were always knocking on the door and trying to get up there. In 1980 (I think) we would have gone up but for Preston being too shit to win a game. Only under venkys have we been deliberately relegated out of the top division and been deliberately prevented from trying to get back. @SuperBrfcmentioned this in a thread about a year ago and I think it is absolutely bang on. This club is too big for venkys and all their hangers on. Where we are is not our level, it is venkys bringing us down to theirs. Don't support them. Don't give them a penny.
  18. Saudi, where everyone is welcome to watch football, unless you're a woman or a gay.
  19. What species do you think plays and watches football? Daleks?
  20. Agree, but to be fair to that profession - administrators and corporate recovery specialists, like the ones appointed at Sheffield W - they’re very skilled at running distressed businesses and would do a much, much better job than Pasha & co (completely different league - we’re talking Prem vs National League here…)😇
  21. Prefab Sprout - Cars and Girls
  22. Give it resr RF99. Football decisions should be based on footballing issues and nothing else
  23. A catalog of quite frankly ludicrous posts. But not sure you'll find any worse than those.
  24. Sometimes it’s best to keep your thoughts to yourself.
  25. Shouldn't come into play. Separate issues. Football should be based on footballing issues and thats it. Other always want to bring in non football issues all the time into these situations
  26. Should human rights play a part - WTAF.
  27. From Waggots laid back water treading approach to being run as if by administrators is my take on it. The new finance director, the shadowman with complete day to day power now and his puppet are i'd say running it culturally a lot different than normal. And what a job they are doing, relegation fight, a raft of signings who'll never be worth more than the fees paid and the lowest number of people in the ground on match days since the late 80's. I wonder if Suhail is filling the owners in on these facts ?
  28. Yes, a dreadful human rights record should play a part. The biggest football tournament should simply not be going to countries with human rights records like that. Clearly you share a moral compass with the corrupt FIFA.
