  1. Past hour
  2. Arguably, the most naturally gifted footballer in our current squad (not saying much) but is it the end of the road for Buckley at Rovers? He has a few years on his contract, I think, without checking, but things have never clicked since the days when he was touted for the Premier League. His best brief spell was probably as a false 9 with Reda Khadra creating space with his pace (the rare days when the team had pace). He also had a handful of end of season games as a CM under Mowbray when he scored a long-range goal or two and looked to be finally cementing his place. At Sheff Wed, on loan, they stuck him out wide and then on the bench, in a desperate team near the bottom of the league. When playing well, he has fantastic passes in his armoury. However, he just hasn't developed (arguably, like other academy graduates, like Scott Wharton or JRC - though, they have injuries as a mitigating factor). For me it's a dilemma whether to keep or move on. Ismael's not a fan, it seems and even Montgomery was moved ahead in the order, it seemed (unless Buckely was injured at the end of the season). For his career, I think a move abroad could do wonders. A less physical league where he can get on the ball might help him. It's a shame, because in natural passing ability, he was/is close to Adam Wharton. Though, lacks in most other areas, perhaps, most importantly, in some aspect of mentality.
  3. You’ve more confidence in them than I have then!
  4. I don’t think we can complain if we end up receiving circa £35 million for him. We certainly can complain about how little (if any) will be reinvested in the squad.
  5. It's appalling the way it's gone. It is now the norm for promoted clubs to have managers or players taken off them. What chance would we have had back in the day if Duff or Dunn were sold before a Premier League ball was kicked, after promotion? It's also notable to compare the top scorers in the second tier back in those days - Louis Saha, Michael Ricketts, Matt Jansen, Lee Hughes, Mikael Forsell and on.
  6. I would assume that there will be other redundancies and restructures that mean those three roles cover the responsibilities of multiple people.
  7. Dean Huijsen has signed for Real Madrid from Bournemouth for £50m. That's over double what Palace stole Adam Wharton for and he too is 20. He has played 30 Premier League games and a handful of senior games in Italy.
  8. Yeah but that's apples and oranges, no way can Rovers ever compare to the mighty Livingston. Nobody would buy this club, get real man.
  9. Today
  10. So we’re going to pay three people to do the job of one?
  11. So the restructure is really just paying people off whilst they have a few quid left in the pot in order to save money in the longer term ? Or has she taken voluntary ?
  12. For all the ‘pea brains’ who are in denial about Rovers ever being taken over, Livingston have just announced Calvin Ford becoming the majority shareholder there. He is the great-great grandson of Henry Ford and said to be worth ‘billions.’
  13. Again TV broadcasters only interested in their own schedules jostling for the match without a care for fans or traditions.
  14. FA Cup final during the season feels wrong. Probably because it is, tbf.
  15. BBC wanted 3pm kick off but ITV wanted 5/5.30 pm kick off.
  16. It was my first thought too tbh, but it's such an easy rule to get around, the NDA for starters will have a clause in it about unfair dismissal. It's such an easy rule to get around, I doubt even Rovers could stuff it up 🙂
  17. FA Cup Final today, at the ridiculous time of 4.30pm. Gone are the days when the English and Scottish cup finals were on the same day and at the traditional time of 3pm. One used to be on BBC, the other on ITV (or vice versa) and I used to flick from one to the other for scores, updates etc. It’s difficult to want Palace to win anything, any time, for obvious reasons but I always opt for the underdog. I detest Citeh with both their oil money and obnoxious, Neanderthal support and with the added Wharton factor, it’s Palace for me.
  18. Feels like such a weird redundancy? I can't get my head around it.
  19. Far more athletic and talented though.
  20. It's not, it's been split into 3 roles so they're fine.
  21. If she has been made redundant then her job can't be advertised as the same job as what the law used to be. Don't know these days
  22. A post by Travis saying she'll be missed and Rovers advertising her job isn't enough confirmation? She's gone...
  23. Has it been confirm Lesley Fielding has left the club or just a rumour at this stage?
  24. I know how you felt given I used to work there until 14 years ago after 8 years of service when I was made redundant, but it was probably time for me to go but try new experiences and jobs. Still have few friends who worked there until they were made redundant by Fraser Group only last October/November they left.
  25. Not prem, but that Messi fella did alright, same height as ACD. I don't think ACD's issues all stemmed from his height, he just came across as a bit of a pussy without much of a football brain. He may well improve but he was an absolute flop here.
